    Just read over the current rules on double jeopardy. If an attempt to play the ball has been made in the box, it’s a penalty and a yellow card. If the player has not played the ball it is deemed an intentional denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity and therefore a penalty and a red card. I think we are all in agreement that Walker didn’t play the ball and intentionally brung Fondop down. The officiating is mind boggling.

    Tonight was very underwhelming. I thought first half we were ok, had we have been ruthless infront of goal could’ve been 3-0 up at half time. Unfortunately that’s football and we were only 1-0 up so it was time to go again.

    It seems to be a common theme that players drift out of the game in the second half, Green/Dickenson for example. Is it a fitness thing? Thought Hobson was excellent tonight as well as hogan who, in my opinion, has had some unfair comments tonight.

    It’s unfortunate that Lundstram had to come off, and even more unfortunate that Gardner/Ward are injured because Shelton does not complement Sheron’s playstile whatsoever. When Lundstram can play 90 minutes every week I feel we will be a much better side. I thought Tollitt and Nuttall contributed absolutely nothing. I do feel like Mikey would’ve had a better impact on tonight’s sort of game. A dead game lacking aggression, tenacity and abit of quality and I know mikey is very capable of displaying those attributes whereas Nuttall simply looked disinterested. Norwood was disappointing. Sutton displayed some great quality at times and worked hard but too many basic errors for my liking. I do feel like the recent fixtures have distracted us from Thompson’s managerial weaknesses.


    For me the recruitment process should start properly this week as I feel Thompson will be out of his depth come the tougher games (Dale, Alty(x2), Woking, Barnet)

    Willoughby hasn't had a sniff since he came in and impressed through the middle

    Probably forgot some that made me come to that conclusion. 

     

     

    Why fix what isn’t broken?

    Lundstram not match fit yet, and they are being extra careful after ward was rushed back and injured himself again.

    442 IS the way to go. Especially under Unsworth, we were 3rd in the table playing 442 and he has strengthened the squad since then. You have to think a starting XI of

    Norman

    RB, Raglan, Hogan/Hobson, Kitch

    Green, Lundstram, Sheron, Dickenson

    Norwood, Fondop/Reid/Willoughby

    would ask a lot of questions to any team in this league. Yes, I know Lundstram and green were unavailable and we don’t have a right back. But if we stay 442 we have a much better chance of winning. Put Hobson RB (not ideal I know but rhino hasn’t signed one yet). Try Gardner in midfield since we know shez and shelts don’t work. Gardner has bite and creativity on his day, none of which Shelton has. Start Magic Mike, he’s scored 4 in preseason and has looked the fittest. Hope/Tollitt on the right again not ideal I know but in my eyes better than Sutton playing as a rwb. With the squad depth we have, player unavailability is not an excuse for a change of formation. Unsworth set up negatively, 8 out of 11 players were defensive minded. What does he expect against an energetic, adrenaline filled Southend side. These are the basics a manager with any decent football understanding should know. It’s just not good enough. I expect at least 5 changes against aldershot, a change of formation and a drastic change of result.

    Makes sense to give it a try against a side with better quality than what we’ve already played against. Green on the right, kitch on the left. A packed midfield three and the two big men up top.

    That’s great in a way as it shows we’re on the right track! But either we have no issues anywhere else in the team or there’s a bit of a fixation on him. 

    you’re right. The fixation on Nuttall is because today he was our weakest link. Everyone performed at a minimum of 7/10 and there was consistent quality throughout the squad. Nuttall was subbed on at half time and performed at about a 4 (arguably generous). Slowed us down and missed clear cut chances.
