I reckon Keith Curle would’ve been a good manager for Tom Hamer. Would’ve got him playing to his strengths and improved him defensively. Agreed he had a big dip in form coping with Kewell’s all out attack style, but a young home grown leader shouldn’t be sold off for peanuts like he was.
In an ideal world, we'd have far more local lads in the team, atleast you'd be assured of them playing for the shirt.

It is quite disheartening to see teams like Bolton and Bradford leave us in their wake having strengthened in the window.
We weakened and staying in this division is now the only goal we can hope for

That went well.
Wouldn't surprise me to see them finish top.
You can't legislate for how easy we made it for em but there you go
We now have to make sure of three points Saturday and the way things are going, it should virtually guarantee safety.

I see Burton scored, end product of a Tom Hamer long throw. Played the whole game at left back according to BBC line up.
Watching Quest highlights?
He had a decent strike on goal aswell, looks settled and with his new found confidence, might push on at the higher level.

It's a bit like thinking that the objectionable Sturgeon and Salmond are representative of all Scots. They're not. Those two really deserve each other.
To think Wallace and the Bruce left a legacy and that pair haven't got a clue, even in this day and age.

Another win and they have crept into the playoff zone today.
Slowly, slowly as a certain person would say.
I stand by my prediction but secretly hope I am wrong. To think they were so close to giving Evatt the heave ho, now look at em go.
Still think we have every chance of knocking them out of their stride.

Not sure even his biggest fans here would have expected him to make it all the way to the England team. Got to give him credit for the graft he's put in over the years, he's got better every season.
I'd have him start for England over Maguire.
I knew that night at Deepdale, he was more than ready for the big time.
Can't understand why United or Liverpool didn't come in for him because from what I've seen tonight, he certainly wouldn't look out of place.

Can he still play centre back?
Just watching Tarky against Fulham
What a player he's turned out to be and some didn't think he could cut it at a higher level

Isn't that the rub. The list of ex-players is pretty long. Gets longer by a whole squad every season.
Some clearly have gone up and away and could never come back. But there are plenty who would/ could have been available.
Surridge has made it- just need to enjoy the memories.
Doyle in my mind goes down as one who could have been acquired.
Matty Palmer, Iverson , Curtis Main anyone?
Could have had a solid core from players who were here and could have been available.
How we could do with a few of em now

Would agree 100% at this except he’s the perfect candidate to be in the youths for pissing in Mo’s cap within 2 months of signingHadn't taken that into consideration when the question was asked but there's my answer.

Right this minute,
JCH for me
No longer the young, rough diamond,
The form he's been on for the last couple of season's, he'd fire us out of this cesspit at the first time of asking.
For the long haul I'd have to say young Sam.

Well, the thread title is "ex players and that"...
Correct and why not highlight the almighty cock up they've made in getting rid of a player who should have started every game

A step up for him. Good luck to the lad.
Testament to Clarkey for making him an attractive proposition to club's of this size.

Having seen the highlights of the Bradford City match yesterday, Danny Rowe’s celebrations at his or teammates’ goals are as understated as they were here. Surely that means he is desperate to get away?
Only thing he's desperate to get away from is a positive covid test

Rowe looks very good for Bradford. Still gutted, will I get over it ? Yeah when we sign a ducking replacement.
Made that finish look very simple and accomplished

They'll be above us the way things are going.

Try and keep up. They have made 4 signings this window. I would say that that is making an effort.
Signed Devitt aswell
Looks like they'll be staying around for another season

Gary Woods loan extended. He’s yet to get on the pitch.
He's Oldhams answer to Simon Mignolet

Agree. Pleased for him. Love the classic line he comes out with too:
"It's a massive club and once I heard about the interest, there was only one place I wanted to come," said the former Linfield and Oldham player.
The kissing of the badge usually follows soon after but good luck to the lad,
He's quite right, Massive club
