  1. Agreee YardDog, but if ST didn’t want to bring on Kurt for Dickenson then he needs to vary his options on the bench. Hope or Tollitt need to be on there, so if Green or Dickenson have a shocker (like today) we have some width on the bench. And Hope’s best goal scoring season in L2 was playing wide in a front three, so he gives us good options. Kurt was playing more as a CAM today and it’s not his game. I thought he really struggled when he came on and made us worse.

  2. No-one ever seems to mention Hope any more. Tons of league experience at a higher level. Looked effective last season b4 the Chesterfield incident. Can play wing or front three. Works hard, can hold it, can finish. Attitude is apparently good. Looked back to sharpness in recent cameos. Was sub a couple of times but now omitted again. I think he should be an option.

  3. Solihull (2nd) Bromley (5th) Rochdale (8th) Woking (9th) have all played away at Kidderminster this season. Only Solihull won. Only Solihull and Rochdale managed to score, just once. We scored twice.

I’ll take the win and be pleased with it.

Despite all our v.poor performances under Unsworth, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that we hold on to win at Gateshead, put away early chances and win v Solihull, nick a win v Dorking with Kurt’s sitter. Get the late Fondop penalty v Halifax. Fine margins in this league. We could be 8 points better off.

Likewise, there’s an alternate universe where Chesterfield didn’t manage all their last minute winners. Could be battling it out with them in the top 3 without having played any differently. Confidence breeds wins and momentum. Let’s move!!!

Maybe this is the game we give someone a hammering, springboard to then kick on.

If you want to see the net ripple that often you need to go and watch basketball.

Personally, I’d love to see us try the basketball approach that Unsworth looks to avoid. You attack, we attack, open & high tempo. Back ourselves to come out on top with attacking talent. Might not work but would be worth a try as things stand. Feels like that’s how Chesterfield are playing and are getting the rewards with victories and late winners.

He's another player that's been treated badly - in the absolutely convincing post-January run last season, he was fairly influential in it.

Yes he was played much more in that period (where we actually looked like competing). Often started with Nuttall which looked like our best combo. Reid said on the Radio Mcr interview the other day that he prefers to play upfront in a 2 alongside a big striker…

Plucked a number. When did we last need one?

We got very lucky v Halifax (h) when Norman got injured in the warm up. Hudson wasn’t named as a sub that game but the rules allowed Hudson to swap in. That injury happens after KO & we’re screwed. Still lost though.

Bradford (a) a few seasons ago we stuck with an injured keeper which cost us. I think we actually had a keeper on the bench that day but he was an untried kid so we didn’t make the change. Now that was a waste of a sub keeper on the bench.

  7. Confidence is a preference for the  Dorking owner

    Dave’s got brewer's droop
He gets intimidated by the dirty home fans
They love a bit of it

We feed the Norwood, we sometimes feed his teammates too
It gives us a sense of enormous squad rotation

    Who's that gut lord marching?
You should cut down on your 4-5-1 mate
Get some exercise (and some decent midfielders)

    All the piss boils

    So many piss boils

But we’re all still Oldham fans

Oldham fans who think we’re shite.

So no use to us then?

Shez got absolutely crucified for bringing players in of similar ilk yet when Unsworth does it we are bringing in the experience that's needed.

Recruitment has been nothing short of awful and my worry is they are again going to have to recruit given we have nobody to play central midfield next week.

Recruitment has been strange. This time last season, Tollitt & Hope had both scored about 3 goals each and looked our main source of goals. That was with a supporting act of Cooper, J.Clarke, Stobbs etc.

Now neither can get on the bench, but we’re playing central strikers Kurt & Nuttall in wide roles which would be much better suited to Hope & Tollitt.

Unsworth’s only doing this because he’s overloaded with new players and doesn’t know how to use them.

Mad to think that we had Kurt, Reid, Nuttall, Raglan, Freeman, Norman, Tollitt, Hope all available yesterday but could afford not to start any of them.

Yet an injury or suspension to a midfielder and we look exposed.

  9. I also thought we should’ve kept Reid on and brought Norwood on for maybe Gardner. In those situations, chasing the game with 10 men you need some legs and players who can put pressure on the opposition.

Unsworth said on Saturday that he’s never been able to get 95 minutes out of Dan Gardner because of his fitness issues. It was about managing his minutes and building him up with 30 min appearances etc.

Then two days later he plays him for 95 minutes when we only have 10 men !  That to me made no sense. Yes he’s technically better than Sheron & Shelton, but in the situation we were in yesterday Gardner should have come off.

  10. He got asked a question about playing Solihull on Monday and failed to answer it at all and just talked about Chesterfield dropping points v Alty. Was weird & cringey.

On the phone in, part of the argument for keeping him was coz of all the work he does on the infrastructure behind the scenes. If that’s the only benefit then give him a DOF role and bring in a proper head coach that can properly manage a team.

  11. And we must have so many unhappy players in the camp. Norwood will be pissed off. Nuttall gets booed all the time. Reid and Kurt hardly get picked. Hobson’s gone from team of the year to bench warmer. Tollitt’s form has been shot to pieces. Hallam Hope hasn’t made a squad yet this season. John Rooney exiled.

All these players would be pretty much guaranteed starters in most other teams in this league and are being woefully mismanaged.
