  1. Blimey!

It is a good job you never used JKL then!

    KtF,

    Derek.

derek,i'll do it like this so its easier to digest!!

hudds will make a million imo because of..

    1 merchandise sales

    2 gate recipts

    3 tv coverage

ALL A DIRECT RESULT OF BEING IN THE 5TH ROUND,there is that better??????????????????????????????????????

  2. Other than TV money none of that counts.

The FA and two competing clubs split gate receipts and media cash only.

Can't really see Chelsea turning round to Nike and saying something along the lines of 'We sold a thousand shirts today but we are only paying you for four hundred because we had to split the gate money'. Can you?

Way to go Einstein, you views just become more and more folly filled.

    KtF,

    Derek.

righto,so the extra money they get from the 'gloty hunters' buying shirts scarves hats wont count then eh derek, yep ok whatever.

and what the hell has chelsea and nike got to do with it???LOL

hudds will make afortune from merchandise gate recpeits tv coverage ALL CONNECTED to the fact that they are in the 5th round so why on earth(not that you are on it) are you bringing up nike,WTF?????

seein as you are so keen to give me abuse and the mods seem happy to let it go i'll have some of that you are smoking.

stop digging derek, the hole is big enough

  3. Ok well here are my thoughts so try to listen. If you don't agree, then fine. I'm more than happy to debate my opinion which is largely based on fact.

As I was at the Council Meeting and therefire git caught up in the emotion of it all so can understand the reaction at the time perhaps. I don't agree with their outburst (leaving the fans on a limb) but at the end of the day, my concern was for the future of The Club. Instead of moaning, I did something about it and tried to see what I could do to help. In the light of day though, they did the right thing. They stayed and fought and in the end, maybe their "threats" helped to overturn the decision.

Again, I didn't agree with their outburst over Porter but since then, despite it hitting them personally in the pocket, they have continued to invest increasing amounts of money into the playing side of things.

You clearly think they are simply here to make money out of the land. So far, they have invested over £11m and are losing a further £750k per Year. The land with Planning Permission may be worth £18m but don't forget, there are Covenants in place to ensure that football has to be played on the Site. So in 5 or 6 years time when all the development is done (hopefully), they may just about break even.

Now for a 10 year investment, if all they were interested in was a return, then there are far more stable and profitable ventures into which they could have sunk their capital.

I'm sure you will trot out the "they are businessmen and so all they are interested in is making money" line. Doesn't apply to football I'm afraid unless you own Man United or Arsenal. The following are all highly successful businessmen but they will never get back what they have put into their Clubs - and they never expected to:- Steve Gibson; John Majewski; Roman Abramovich; Thaksin Shinawatra; Jack Walker; Dave Whelan; Eggert Magnusson; David Gold; David Sullivan; Mohammed Al Fayed; Bernie Eccleston; Fabio Briatore; John Ryan; Simon Jordan and I could go on and on but hopefully I have made my point.

Someone succesful in business was once asked how you created a successful small football team. Their answer? Start with a large one. Regardless of what you may think the land is worth, you do not get involved with a football club to make money. It just doesn't happen. There is too much emotion and fans won't be taken for a ride. Look at the problems Gillett and Hicks are having at Liverpool and of course The Glazers at United.

Since they took over, TTA have always said that owning a football team was their ambition. If you like, they bought Oldham because they could afford to and it fulfilled their ambition. It didn't fulfil their dreams though as they want to grow the Club and make it financial stable. To do that, they need to make the Stadium earn its keep and that is why the Planning meeting was so important. If they were true Property Developers, then they would not have made such naive mistakes and would already be well advanced in seeing the place knocked down.

If you want to believe that their motives are machiavellian, then fair enough. But please expect to be called to task for your opinions and quit the "lemmings" insult.

fair post althoigh you seem to have convieniently ignored the insults from derek to me in your post,is he being 'warned' as well?

  4. Don't you think we are already in that middle ground I mean we are losing 15k aweek which TTA are funding and will still be prepared to give us a little more money fromtheir own pockets again not ours if the right player comes along.

What I will agree with you on is that we do need some new signings quickly as like you I am worried about the quality of the side and like you I think we are seriously short of cover up top Wolfy I don't think will cut it and Smalley I think will but over time with the right nurturing and attitude and probably as a right winger. But TTa have said there is the money available its upto the management team to find that player worth the money.

fairymuff,i think we agree on some points ...

    nighty night all

  5. To be fair, he might not be a million miles away on that point. If Chelsea charge their usual prices and get a full house (alright that might not be too likely) then 42,449*£48*0.45=£916,898.40. Not a million, but not far short.

tv add on's and shirt sales/merchandise,a million easily

  6. Those are facts not views, plus I the added question about you being the dipstick that had a stand up row with Corney and made himself look quite the village idiot.

    So no views there then.

I rarely post views on the games or the players and management on here because I don't like the way the board is run nor the format of it. With the demise of what I think are far superior boards though I have little choice other than to read here to see what my fellow fans are thinking. I take my choices and all that, but if you dig around you will find the occasional post by me on the state of it all as I see it.

By the way, are you the blert?

    KtF,

    Derek.

no derek they are not facts b/c you have no idea how much hudds will earn, they are your views,if you are talking Facts you will know exactly how much hudds will get and the fact of the matter is its your *opinion*,are you taking into account possible tv earnings as well?dont think so!

    blert?no not me .

one other thing, dipstick? thats very brave of you,but makes you look like a complete plank

  7. Threatening to pull out was a message to the council urging them to back the plans or otherwise they had to pull out because they couldn't keep putting money into a loss making business. It worked The council changed their minds and accepted the proposal leaving us with a nice new stadium to look forward too. Yes TTA will make money from this and am sure this one of their intentions when they bought the club, we get a new stadium which will make Oldham Athletic more money and strengthen the future of the club. We could of course just turf them out in the vain hope that someone will come in and be prepared to just bankroll the club forever. We could of course just told them to go away before they got here when the club was on its death bed and then what would have happened?

thats a well balanced post,i respect your opinion simply because you havent been rude or aggressive like others and because you make some good points.

  8. And you don't possibly think that them threatening to 'pull the plug' whipped up enough outrage amongst the fans to get them to orchestrate a campaign against the council and in support of the club, to get the decision reversed?

Of course they are in it for the land deal, but if they can provide us with a state of the art football stadium and a club which is primarily self financing as part of that deal, then what is the problem.

and the dummies out debacle after porter, was that intended to 'whip up'the council?nope, thought not.

  9. A million or more sheckles you think eh?

Cloud cuckoo land laddie. At only 1 place in this country is there a possibility of a nailed on Million pound game with the 40, 40, 20 split (though you may just scrape one at the Emirates). Old Trafford holds a good twenty odd thousand - possibly stretching to over thirty thousand - more than Stamford Bridge. It generates over two million pounds per game at full ticket price. Chelsea holds thirty eight thousand or so, so possibly in the region of 1.5 million gate receipts max at £40 a ticket which weighs in at about six hundred grand after the split.

OK it is not an undesirable sum of money but you are way off the mark.

Luckily though, you are closer to the mark with your erroneous financial guesswork than you are with the rest of your post - which I have to say is utter drivel.

It has often been said when debates get heated that the club don't need fans like you; and I argue against it quite a lot as the club needs every fan it can get IMO. Today though you have taken the biscuit.

You aren't that blert who was arguing with Simon Corney a few seasons back at the fans forum are you? You know, the halfwit who wanted his money back but in all reality turned out to be a bit of a drama queen?

Oh and go on, lemming me too. It's a shame I don't really like this board enough to be bothered posting my views.

    KtF,

    Derek.

well if they wernt your views what exactly were they?(and i disagree about hudds cash-esp if on the tele)

  10. Now I'm confused your saying we should only sign players that are within the budget? Yet at the start of this thread you were saying that TTA didn't gamble enough money last week on signing a player who could of got us into the 5th round?

    lol

im trying to get a bit of middle ground,i understand why some would not want us to 'break the bank'the fact is we have only had TWO recognized strikers for quite a while(im discounting ricketts)so why the hell have we not brought SOMEONE in,pls dont mention smalley wolfenden as they quite clearly do not cut it.

smalley uptop on sat, jesus when i think about it now i should have staked a bag of sand on saturday

  11. Forget that. Try these:-

Who have we sold since TTA took control?

If TTA are only interested in profiting from the land, then why (after already funding the Club for £11m with no guarantee of a return) do they continue to personally fund a Team better than what we could expect off gate receipts/ income to the extent of £15k per week?

If, as you suspect, our owners are plain and simple asset strippers, why would they want to go and sell an asset for less than it is worth?

look, read my last post about tta and ask yourself did they give a hoot about the average latics fans feelings when they threatened to pull the plug TWICE b/c they wernt getting their own way....think about it man

  12. Congratulations go to jerzybalowski for the stupidest post of the season. I cannot believe that when Tottenham said they would be prpepared to sell Berbatov for 30 million quid this january TTA sat their like numpties and wouldn't cough up the money madness! Incidentally where do you get the figure 1 million plus from because we would only get 45% of the gate money. If you have a problem why not buy the club? its heamoraging money out of TTa's pockets to the tune of 15000 pound a week and thats before we get to the cost of redeveloping the stadium and adding to the squad.

One more thing how would a striker have garuranteed us a win saturday we didn't create many chances did we. Would he have scored from one of Taylors crosses that didn't beat the first man?

stop worrying about tta's pockets, they will get their return now, anyway have you forgot they wanted to pull the plug if the development was rejected?

or maybe the fact that they were considering their futures after the porter saga might jolt you into realising they dont give a stuff about the worry and anxiety they caused the average latics fan....

  13. Ok Jerzy (or should you be Billy......or maybe Jester?!),

Is the club in a better financial position now than it was under the Chris Morre era? Yes or no.

What is your issue, with the way in which the club is being run?

Do you think we should be gambling the clubs future away by signing players that we can't afford?

What else should TTA be doing besides funding the £xthousand pounds we are still losing weekly/monthly?

If the 'lemmings are blind', perhaps you'd care to point out to us just what it is that we seem to be missing in our views?

Speculate to accumulate (within your means) or boom and bust?

chris moore was a **** and if i saw him in the street i'd be letting him know.

my issue is that i do not trust the owners as my opinion is that they are only interested in the land(and their disgraceful antics after porter/and the initial council rejection threatening to oull the plug have been conviniently forgotton by the majority it seems)

i have not said we should be signing players we cannot afford have i? the players are stupidly overpaid.

    hth

  14. Did everyone not miss his ill-disguised hint in this post???

Million miles away... however a good guess???

We have our first Citeh wind up merchant. Jerzy - thanks for the entertainment... av a word with Sven to sell micah... and enjoy the losing streak for the rest of the season... also... wouldnt mind that DS on loan... but to be honest, your strikers are worst than ours... you need him more...

oh dear god no i am an oldham fan.

first game leicster city at home 82/83,they got promoted, travelled home and away until 2001,remember the 1st game on the plastic versus barnsley (i think-night match, lots of sand)

lol why am i doing this anyway? im a latics fan alright,i just dont blindly agree with everything that goes on,like some evidently do

  15. The problem is Jerzy, that you come out with ridiculous points and then wait for a response. Amazingly, some people take the trouble to point out the flaws in your "arguments" but rather than add to the debate, you throw the "lemmings" line in. Now you come back later with the "blind loyalty" comment. Another bland accusation aimed at nobody in particular but presumably designed to stir the pot once more.

How about answering some of the questions that you are asked? That way, I'm sure you will prove that you are not just a troll out to provoke controversy. Am I wrong? Well prove it and start debating otherwise do us all a favour and move on.

i have answered questions asked,i think

  16. Used to enjoy looking through the various posts on the message board as the posts were generally well structured debates between certain agendas....Now there are floods of posts ranting on about this that and the other that are frankly quite boring and i know 90% of readers won't give a damn what i think but im moaning on regardless!

SHERIDAN IS IN HIS SECOND SEASON IN CHARGE.......WE ARENT PLAYING WELL BUT STILL MANAGE TO SIT MID TABLE AND HAVE ONLY LOST 2 GAMES IN 18 AS WELL AS HAVING THE BONUS OF SEEING A LEAGUE ONE CLUB BEAT A TOP 4 PREMIERSHIP SIDE......SURE THE TEAM ISN'T UP TO GREAT STANDARDS BUT I THINK SHERIDAN WOULD BE THE FIRST TO ADMIT THAT...

LETS FOR ONCE IN THE LAST 10 YEARS JUST STICK BY A MANAGER GIVE HIM A BIT OF TIME AND SUPPORT, HE WILL LEARN THE GAME AND WILL ONLY IMPROVE HE IS A YOUNG TALENTED MANAGER WHO WILL BRING SUCCESS.

I respect your opinion but the last sentence is a typical reflection of the posts on here, why is he going to bring succsess?Give me on e good reason why you say that?

  17. Getting to the Play-offs and being beaten by the eventual winners, who are now comfortably in mid-table in the championship, who will be major play-off contendors in a year or two is not a bad season, it worked well as we were consistant enough to get to a stage we havent been in for 5 years. How can you say 'out' after 6 bad months which come after an excellent year? How can you say out to a manager who beat Everton and Leeds away? Admittedly, Brian Talbot beat City, but have we been in the relegation zone since we hit bottom early in the season? Dont think so.

i think blackpool made us look like what we are, very average side with a very average manager, sorry if that ranckles but its the truth
