  1. Everybody's favourite moaner of old, Senor_Coconut.

He promised to be positive for the rest of the year if we got our planning permission (think that was it), and to his credit he's managed it (mostly) amidst some fairly severe provocation.

Jerzy, if as you say your views are genuine I respect that - don't usually agree with them, but I'm more than happy to debate them with someone who's honest about it. It's those who tend to do it for effect (and there have been one or two) that I can't be doing with.

If you want to talk about a player who could cross a ball then look no further than a guy who played for us in the late 80's early 90's.(i'll give you a clue,no that youd need one,he had a left foot)

now compare that with what taylor delivers(and yes the player was pretty young when we signed him so we wont be having any of that 'taylor is only 20'malarky) :)

  2. Taylor is far from perfect, but then if he had already realised all the potential he was showing when he initially broke into to the team I think he'd have moved on by now despite his love for the club.

Right now he's one of the few players we have who can genuinely inject a spark, and I think his game is evolving and improving all the time. He's bulked up a bit (needs to do more but without losing his pace), and actually I think his tackling/keeping the ball is much better than it was. Definitely a player to keep. And the fact he's a fan is also a factor - he's unlikely to leave unless it's a chance he can't refuse to go up a level.

i respect your opinion although i obviously disagree with it- and i take no pleasure in it,hes an oldham kid who loves the club, but that dont make me rate him-i dont .

  3. Point(s) at Yeovil were far more important than beating Hudds this Sat. The FA Cup is great, and a win could bring us a windfall, but league points matter most.

As for suggesting all the club is interested in is property development, you're either saying that to get a reaction (which makes you the kind of moron we REALLY can't be bothered with on here) or you actually believe it.

If it's the latter, I genuinely pity you - I'd hate to live my life as pessimistic and depressive as you must be.

im not here to get any reaction- sorry if my thoughts have you asking that.

I disagree with your point about the more important game-i guess the gate against brighton and the gate this saturday might go some way to suggesting many more share my opinion.

one other thing, please dont lower the tone with 'i pity you comments',its a very poor way to express your opinion and is a bit silly really.

  4. Sir Alex and the like also have huge squads. Usually treble the size of ours and packed with internationals.

yeh i know that, but im talking about our probably one and only 'diamond'who knows where the net is.Id have gone with wolfenden against yeovil and lets face it,if that would have happened we wouldnt finf ourselves in teh ridiculous situation we are in now- ie with one decent striker available for the biggest game of the season.

I dont get the arguement against what im saying, dont wash with me.

  5. Oh dear , dont tell TTA  or the .... will be hitting the fan

Dont want to lose trotman-he looks the business.

taylor on the other hand utter gash.He cannot cross a ball to save his life, when your a winger its kind of a must really, bit like a forward not being able to find the net.Secondly he spends half his tinme crying to referees, its embarrassing.Thirdly somebody needs to teach the kid how to tackle.

so we need to keep tortman and ditch taylor imo.

  6. You are priceless aren't you? Sheridan had told him how important it was he didn't pick a yellow up hence his fury afterwards for the silly booking. You don't get away from things like that by NOT playing them, you have a word in their shell and hope it registers. As it was Hughes cleared 2 off the line so we'd have lost that without him.

Its interesting that sir alex and others dont play their 'stars'when a big game is looming, anyway, yes im much happier in the knowledge that hughes saved 2 goals against yeovil, but im sorry to say it doesnt relieve the sorrow that he will be mising for our biggest game of the season.

not sure what the priceless is a bout to be honest

  7. Another day,another blank.

Obviously we have a problem attracting players here,KK pretty much said all that needs to be said,he went to leeds because he has ambition.Lets face it you dont need to be a rocket scientist to realise all our club is interested in is property development, sorry if that irks people but that the top and bottom of it.

Looks like we will play on saturday with davies and wolfenden up top-doen't fill me with confidecne to be blunt.

one other thing, its obvious to me hughes couldnt keep his cool for ONE game.Id have thought Shez has concluded the guy has a lack of discipline so why the hell did he play him?The game on sat is our cup final,we aint going up and i dont think we'll go down.So with that in mind saturday is huge as it has the potnetial to deliver the club literally millions.

i dont know who is the bigger fool, hughes for getting booked or sheridan for playing him........i think i'll ask the audience.

  8. Not having a pop at shez, but he should have really kept his rant to himself on Saturday. Just makes everyone think something is iminent wen it obviously wasn't. So the threat of changes is just nonesense and the under performers from last week will breathe a sigh of relief..... Oh well 6 points it is?

shouldn't you be on the doors eddie

  9. Great post!

What is scary for me is that this "then they can whistle, i aint paying stupid money to a club with no apparent ambition-unless your into property of course" attitude indicates only the tip of the iceberg that represents the Oldham public who lost the Faith many years ago.

Maybe time will convince them........................maybe they don't want to be convinced. :disappointed:

ERM,i ve been going BP since 1981 and i can assure you thats a long time. The difference between then and now is i paid1.20 to get in to watch average football, now i pay 10 times that and the football is gash.PLEASE explain to me why i should continue to flush my money down the bog when the club is clearly not even capable attracting third rate players?

  10. It's not opinion though. It's slagging the owners off for no reason by saying that they are only in it for the money. Yes they are eventually but they want to provide a self sufficient club without breaking the bank. If that's all they were in it for, they wouldn't have ploughed millions into the club over the years.

This isn't fantasy football. We need to run the club as a business to ensure future survival. The only way round that is to get a billionaire in who want's to throw the money around and use the club as a plaything.

The thing is though- they are putting a lot of money into the club and have stated there is more for the right people. Then they get accused of only being in it for the money. If I was only in something for money, one things for sure......it wouldn't be a football club! :D

Good job they arent in for the football club then, they were ALWAYS after the land,IMO of course.

  11. Port Vale - Chasetown??? Exactly. You havent mentioned they've lost Rocastle and Willock

Cheltenham - Brooker and Russell are only loanees. Decent one's mind, but even with them - stronger squad than ours at current? 8 points gap and a big goal difference advantage.

Bournemouth - The same Bournemouth we ran riot over? They've no James Henry on loan anymore. Though he is a player perhaps we should be looking to loan now from Reading. They've only got Max Gradel on loan at current havent they??

Teams above us are bringing in decent additions. Certainly not at the bottom - bar possibly the two at Cheltenham who when you look at the rest of the squad, it doesnt pose you much of a threat.

Shez's priority now we are at bare bones is to make sure bigger clubs dont swoop in, ala like they're trying with Trotman.

Not at all. There are mates of mine from games who post on here who think the same. The difference is that they can actually put forward their point better (as has yourself) compared to the other one. That's the difference between being called and actually being able to have a debate on the issue without getting childish.

Well i do believe you started it all with your childish 'ark at her' post,if you dont like it odnt dish it out,end of topic.

  12. TTA have said the money is there for the right players! Do you honestly want us to go back to running the club like Chris M***e? They are paying nearly £900k a year just to keep the club running out of there pockets because Oldhamers want to sit at home and watch Sky. Go and watch United.

    'Go and watch united'?

    You prat.

  13. I've just read most of this thread and I'm beginning to wonder whether I've drifted off onto another planet.

Some of you are honestly more insane than Toon fans, and I thought that was impossible.

It just goes to show there is a section of fans who will never be happy, who are deluded beyond belief, and frankly who would get exactly what they deserve if the owners left and the club died.

    well,

1.i pay good money and am more than entitled to my opinion thanks.

2 the owners WERE going to leave the club if they didnt get their way.as has been posted their dummies came out with the porter saga as well, what was it? oh we might have to consider our future,

    Anyway,time for a rest.

  14. We know the window's open a month, but we're over half way through and it isn't looking good, our record at the last minute hardly instils confidence does it? Let me remind you. Dean Crowe, Delroy Facey, Glombard, Malongo etc, at our level there's only the turds left on that final day, we've proved it year after year. We got in early this summer for once and pulled off coups by getting Davies and Hughes. If we want decent players we have to pay what they want otherwise we are left with scraps that no bugger else wants, I've seen it year after year mate.

Prozac they are absolutely spot on points you make-hopefully some of the lemmings will take note.

  15. Whilst I am grateful to TTA , my gratitude has waned a little due to the constant public dummy spitting over Killen, Porter, and The Council, "we're packing our ball up and going home" type comments can only wash so many times and play on fans loyalty and conscious so many times before tedium sets in. Yes we are grateful but to constantly wheel out the "shut up, they saved us, so you're not allowed to criticise the club's transfer policy" is laughable. Make no bones about it in a months time without quality additions we will be fighting a relegation battle. The parallels with Ritchie's first season and Talbot's season are there to see. The home form is dire, the away form will fade, not even Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea win away every week and the clubs at the bottom are starting to gain ground as well as actually signing players.

As I said last weekend, the only constant at this club is the fans, if we want to criticise we can, constructively of course and I feel it is totally justified given our lack of success in bringing players in (For the 3rd January in sucession might I add) As i said before if they can offer KK silly money do it for other similar targets instead of drip-feeding crap to the Chronicle about wages. The wages are over-inflated, they know that, we know that, the Chron knows that blah blah feckin blah, instead of whingeing lets see some business acumen and wheeling and dealing to get the right players in, that'll ensure my club doesn't face another relegation battle

Excellent post and one which mr bilboa needs to digest

  16. So those who've disagreed with you. Myself included amongst others, have said that they're doing it for the love of the club have we? News to me. No one's that stupid. Though we appreciate what they've done. It's called respect and if it wasnt for them coming in when they did, i'd of probably still been in the rain rattling a bucket. I'm sorry if that gets disguised as 'buttkissing'. I'm not a fan of fruity love for a start.

You say that money needs to be spent, then say if it doesnt you'll do what most other Oldhamers do and go back to watching Soccer Saturday. Great Outlook and one reason the clubs in the state it is.

Of course we need to strengthen the squad. No questions. Though have you ever thought it might be a case of there's no one yet who Shez has spotted who can demand a spot in our side? The Transfer window is open till the end of the month afterall. What's the point in rushing to get someone in just for the sake of it?? Who exactly is there available???

Good post, much better than the original one, hopefully some investment in the team will be coming.(if it isn;t then they can whistle,i aint paying stupid money to a club with no apparent ambition-unless your into property of course)

  17. They're businessmen with no affiliation to the club. Of Course they want to see some cash back for their time here. More money than they put in, even better. Thats the whole point of taking on any business isnt it??

    Dont they deserve it?

We owe them a lifetime of thankyou's. Not a "f***in get yer chequebook out, Corney." type mentality whilst we're still operating at a loss.

Though I suppose you disagree. Darling.

I certainly do respect the fact that they have put their hand in their pocket, but im not kidding myself that they are doing it for the love of the club-they are doing it to get a return.End of.

And i'll pass on the butt kissing or a lifetime of thankyous as you put it thanks.

    xxx

  18. 'Ark 'At'Er

Yeah, That's a clever idea. Tell the owners who've saved us from the brink and ploughed millions into this club as it is and still are on a weekly basis given that until the club regenerates the stadium, we'll always be operating at a loss.

ARK at her??? wtf,i think yer names gone to yer head petal.

WRT the owners, are you that naieve?surely not,the owners want their money back sweetheart, thats why they spat their dummy out when they thought they werent getting their land, like i said, naieve.or simple?

  19. Mr B, in my humble opinion the only time this becomes a serious issue is midnight on deadline day. The players Shez wants will be trying to keep their options open, and you can't really blame them. If we sign nobody then it's an issue, but up until then no worries.

Thanks for a sensible reply mate, well yes and no is what i'd say, players are moving but not here-the longer its left the more desperation will set in and we'll end signing gash(like thompson for example)

  20. Its a joke.If no players come in as im beginning to fear then that spells disaster.Whats the problem?Forward thinking club building a new stadium, just had a nice windfall from the cup with the very real prospect of further progress and more cash.

I think somebody needs to remind the owners that this club is going nowhere unless we get out of this horrid division,if theres no investment in the team this time they can go and whistle for the extortionate prices they charge-i'll watch sky sports soccer saturday like 90% of the rest of oldhamers.

    rant over.

sorry mods it says topics merged so i reposted it here.
