  1. Apart from the obvious highlight that day, I also enjoyed Ian Marshall being given the ball by the ref to pass back to the keeper, before running at goal, feigning to shoot, and finally tapping it to him.

Oh, and the two lads who missed the coach at the last service station break, being welcomed into the stand by the chant of ‘you must’ve come in a taxi’.

    Happy days!

Correlation just based on the evidence we have.

If we had a new data driven system for rehabilitating injured players that all the top clubs were using with varying success, but our rehabilitation rates were not improving. Then it’s more likely an issue as to how that system is being implemented than a fault with the system itself.

I was mischievously suggesting that Stats Bomb is programmed to push certain agents’ players up the list, similar to Google ads.

Much more likely that we had to throw a chunk of change at agents to get deals such as Norwood’s and Raglan’s over the line in the face of ‘huge interest from other parties’.

Another thread where everyone says the stats bomb is wrong without understanding how it works or how we've used them.

I’ve got no idea how it’s used and if it’s at the root of our recruitment issues.

I do think it’s worth noting that the two teams in the division using Stats Bomb (us and York), also spent the most on agents’ fees.

    Causation or correlation?

This seasons agents fees were released today! (Feb 23- Feb 24)

Just over £600k was paid out by NL clubs.

We spent the 2nd highest figure and paid over £82k to agents...

    Chesterfield spent £52k....

    Gateshaed spent nothing....

The teams currently in 2nd to 7th spent £85k COMBINED!

Someone needs to fucking sort our recruitment policy out! £82k to agents bringing us these wasters.

Top spenders by a mile were York who somehow spent £129k and may still go down!!!

Ha, I’m thinking now that StatsBomb is a front for a consortium of agents!

It certainly begs the question whether they receive a kickback from completed deals.

    From the official website:

"Supporters who wish to claim a refund on their match or coach ticket can do so in the following ways,.

If you have ordered online but have not collected your ticket, email supporter.services@oldhamathletic.co.uk by 4pm on Tuesday 23 April and your refund will be processed in 10 working days.

If you have already collected your ticket, please return your complete match ticket to the Latics Ticket Office by 4pm on Tuesday 23 April. The full ticket must be returned as proof of purchase.

Any refund for a coach seat must be claimed by using the email address above or in person by 4pm on Wednesday 17 April."

    Beat me to it.

This is a change from the original communication which said you could simply email the club.

Nope. But a mate of mine has been advised he needs to take his physical ticket back to the ticket office in order for the refund to be processed. Which is clearly idiotic, given the shambles.

I will wait for my reply. I’m certainly not driving a two hour round trip for the privilege of my money back.

I’ve seen that the official site has been updated now to say that if you have the physical tickets, you need to return them at the ticket office by 4pm on Tuesday, 23 April.

I’ve always said it Johnny,  is there better footballers than him- yes. But you can’t escape the fact that several midfielders have been signed after him and none have matched him in consistency, nor do any of them play as much as he does. In fact, he’s the only player to have played nearly every minute under four managers. I would get rid of every single midfielder we’ve got before Sheron.

All true, and a sad reflection on our recruitment since we came down.

So much money spent, so little to show for it.

Nathan Sheron isn’t our biggest problem. Sums it up nicely for me.

Norwood might go (if he can’t be arsed with us, or we get an offer)

Someone might come in for Hudson.

Sheron will be here, and as our third top goal scorer behind Nors and Mikey Id be pleased. Shit players don’t score 7 from midfield. He’s made quite a few look silly in their assessment of him.

Seven goals from midfield is decent. The problem for me, however, is the opportunity cost of not having a baller in there.

I’m sick to death of watching him fluff a 10-yard pass, or mis-control far enough that his second touch is a tackle.

I get it, we’re non-league, but surely it doesn’t have to be this bad?

  9. I came away from Saturday’s game feeling thoroughly cheesed-off. I checked the league table and we were still squeaking into the play-offs though.

So, been wondering why I’m so down on Latics, when we’re actually having, what is for us, a really successful season.

I’m an ST holder who’s made almost all of the home games this season (missed 5-1 v Aldershot, obvs) with a smattering of aways and a few TV games.

Just done the maths and I can see the problem: 22 points gained from 19 games watched. Lower mid-table form at best.

Guess I’ve been slightly unlucky, but an uptick in home form would go a long way right now.

I'm going to call the ticket office on Monday, so will send you a message. I live in the North East so am in the same boat, although thankfully some mates are going and they can get my ticket.

    That’ll be helpful, thank you.

If you need them picking up you can dm me and I can get them and meet you in York.

Cheers for the kind offer but  I’m taking the wife and kids so not sure exactly what time I’ll get there.

I’ll give the ticket office a call when they’re next open to see what happens next.

Orders made online can be collected from the Oldham Athletic ticket office by 12pm on Tuesday 20 February.

I won’t be able to get to the Latics ticket office now to collect my tickets.

Am I correct in thinking that they’ll be delivered back to the York ticket office later on the 20th?

I’ll email the club but response may come a little too late.
