  1. I'd have no real problem with us sharing a ground with Rochdale at Stakehill as long as it was jointly owned with no club having control over it. To do it, it would have to be fair, like this.

The fact is though, that only two teams can play on one pitch so you couldn't have the two rugby clubs as well. Therefore, we might as well share with the rugby, as share with Dale

  2. The breakthrough T-shirt was a quality piece of merchandise. I'm sure I must still have it somewhere. Those were the days when Latique sold T-shirts that were of a really high quality rather than some of the more recent efforts which have done well to last 5 washes (allegedly... I don't want Alan taking legal action against this slur)

  3. I just don't get these people who insist on slagging off the same players every game, no matter how they play. I have to put up with it every singe game. I've got a racist cow three rows back who will blame absolutely everything on any black player we've got on the pitch at the time. Then, we've got the other one, who I'm not going to name and shame, but if someone else wants to (Diego, TwentySix, the floor is open) feel free, who is now blaming KK and Hughesy for every mistake by any player on the park

Now, I get over excited, I admit that, and I may have told a couple of players some home truths over the years but I do at least watch the game and direct any anger the right way.

    Rant over

  4. Quality start a poll on here on his greates hoofs and add them on.... No1 Christmas DVD here you come!

I have recollections of a ball bobbling harmlessly out of play when Sean Garnett ran up to it and absolutely leathered it somewhere into the centre of Royton

  5. WTF ??

So if your a season ticket hold you have to go to the civic centre to get the gold ticket ?? Without the gold ticket you cant get first choice ??

If I have that right that is a very below the belt move! There is NO WAY I can get to the civic hall!! That little thing called work!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, when you go to the ticket office, you also need to be wearing your Chris Taylor "I was there T-shirt"

  6. Here's the plan.

Tickets for the cup tie at Everton will be put on sale from the ticket office firstly for season ticket holders producing voucher C along with a special gold voucher.

Next in line are supporters holding ticket stubs from the Luton game on Tuesday + a gold voucher

Gold vouchers are only available from the Civic Centre on 11th December!

That should push our numbers up at the planning meeting

  7. In my letter supporting the regeneration, i quoted jeff at the march

"when you go on holiday you talk about oldham in two lights, race riots and Oldham athletic"

not exactly those words, but thats the shortened version.

anyhow, ive just received a reply from Eileen Hulme, and quite fronkly, she seems like she is being well off.

have a read and see what you think. its below

    Phil

Thank you for your E mail. As OAFC will soon be back before the planning committee I will not compromise the issue by commenting at this point in time. However I will comment on two other points

1 It is a long time since I heard any one refer to the “race riots”

2 When talking about Oldham few people mention Oldham Athletic. Many do refer to the sad demise of Tommy Field Market.

I find it very sad that people keep referring back to the race riots. Most of us in Oldham have thankfully moved on from those sad days

    Regards

    Eileen Hulme

    This makes me cringe.

How are we supposed to reason with these people when they are living on another planet.

How anyone can claim that we are not living with the stigma of the riots is unbelievable. To claim that Tommyfield is at the fourfront of the nation's thoughts is even worse.

The statement "few people mention Oldham Athletic" is nothing short of a joke. Has this woman ever actually left the borough?

  8. Maybe they see changing formation from one that's not effective to one that is as 'unsporting'

Just to clarify, one of their fans shone a lazer in Crossley's eyes and we passed the ball around superbly!

I can see why they thought we were unsporting.

They on the other hand were very sporting because after each passage of play we had in the second half, they seemed to want to kick the ball straight back to us when they finally did get it!

  9. Nowt to do with it - I ended up with 3 lifts in the end (maybe I should have taken all 3 - sure a certain Councillor would have done............. and driven all 3 himself )!

    Just making an observation :D

What happened to the normal Donny Dog? Does that shirt stink? He never seems to take it off. I see him at most England games and he has always got his Rovers shirt on, including when we were in Barca and he was wearing it for three days on the trot

  10. Can I add my plea that people send an email off. I have just sent a detailed mail to Mr Bennet and the committee but even if you are not comfortable in writing something dtailed, a two liner stating that you are in favour and that you think the whole development will benefit the town will do so much good. The more messages in support they receive the better.

  11. Excellent result and very good second half performance.

To be honest, when they scored I thought "here we go again" but we came back superbly.

To those who didn't go, you need to see Killer's goal. A forty yard screamer.

I was delighted for Macca who I thought played well and fully deserved his goal.

Now, lets hope we don't undo all the good work on Saturday!

  12. Have the club expressed a view on this petition? I noticed that nobody from the club appears to have signed it which I though a little odd.

Would it be possible for the club to promote it on the official site and potentially email their mailing list requesting that people sign?

If we could get this into the thousands before the meeting on the 11th, and somebody makes the council aware of it prior to the meeting it could hold some sway. At the previous meeting, Bashforth stated that such petitions are able to influence councillors.

  13. I've gone for other - Benitez for me. He has an outstanding record in one off European games (alright maybe not this season).

The obvious candidate is the Special One but I think he is much more suited to club management. He manages to instill a seige mentality in his players, thus forming a fantastic team spirit. I'm not sure this would be achievable in an international squad due to them spending so little time together.

Wenger would be another superb choice but I just can't see him leaving Arsenal with the crop of kids they have got there. He will believe he can dominate the Premier League for the next few years and he won't want to pass up that chance.
