  1. last night he was fantastic, but realisticly wolfy has come on a few times not with the same impact but his hold up play and touch has been just as good, the next time we have seen him he has been poor.

what i am saying is, do not expect to much to soon and dont turn on him when he is not a world beater in a few weeks, he needs time to develop.

its a bit like the team, there is plenty of potential.

  2. Fair enough but, in the interests of healthy debate, you could equally say:

    we don't win often

    we rarely excite

we need someone who knows the game

anyone can build a strong backroom

    he loves Sheff.Wed

he has had a very high turnover of players, especially in the two summers, which makes it very difficult to build a team

oh, and we don't win often, especially at home (2 games all season)

we win away all the time

we have excited on a number of occasions this season

he not the manager of sheff wed

we are a selling club and if people want to leave then they leave , thats life, they have to be replaced, that would be the same with any manager.

oh and we dont lose often, especially away (9 on the trot away)

you cant pick and choose where you wingames and think most of the beef is with the fact that alot people cant go to all the away games, a win is a win at any ground.

next season we might win every home game and lose every away game , i have a feeling people will be much happier and just say.if only our away form was better but shez is doing ok and he will turn it around,

  3. Getting back to the Sheridan debate. People can see the negatives, but what are the positives. He seems to have support on this board but, and I ask this without anything in mind, what are the good points about keeping him beyond the end of the season. I'm not talking about continuity, but what are HIS assets as a manager?

    List please...

    we dont lose often.

we TRY to play football in the correct manner.

the kids in the reserves trust him as he has manged most of them

he is still learning the game

he has a strong staff behind him

    he loves the club

he is building a team (it may take more than 2 years)

    oh and...............................we dont lose often

we have not bought anyone yet , i know it frustating but for gods sake at the start of the month everyone was singing his praises and now people just want to let him leave no problem. it takes time to build a promotion winning team especially with a small budget at a club that is LOSING money hand over fist. we are not in a position to sign just anyone , the players have to be right or we are stuck with them and we cant afford that. we are not a bad team , we are just struggeling to break teams down at the moment but when we give someone a good hiding and think that will be soon, watch the confidence come back to the players.

that is why we should do all we can to keep shez.

whats the motto of the fans oh yeah............................ KEEP THE FAITH.........try not to forget that!

  4. one defeat in 16 league games, i think you are correct, sheridan out , that is just not good enough at any level of football, what a disgrace. games in hand and a young talrnted side still learning the game.

beating everton and leeds in their own backyard not a month ago but we should have scored more against them, rubbish performance boys! wheres the heart?

games in hand mid table , could make the playoffs, not good enough , we should be unbeaten and top of the division and pushing for europe in the cups. if we dont win the premership within the next 3 years i will not be renewing my season tkt, whats the point?

    SORT IT OUT SHEZ!

  5. OK, he scored twice in the last 5 minutes to snatch a point against a Cantona inspired Leeds. And that was about his only decent performance. But it as against Leeds, so that's ok!

The price was far to high 750000 for 1 performance :disappointed:

He played well against wimbeldon when we beat them 6-2.

lobbed one in over a stranded Hans Segers who also seemed to pull his hands out of the way for another olny goal. you know the game, Fashanu scored an own goal.

but hey they were both cleared  im sure Olney looked that good on his own

  6. £750, 000? 1 million pounds? Come on chaps do you really think he is worth that much? Put side club captain welsh international nonsense, how much would you really pay for him? I suggest £300000 tops, or £200000 plus a player would be far more realistic at the this stage in his career.

Hope I am wrong of course and some muggins pays huge amount of money for him.

i know what you are saying, and i dont think he has improved at all since last season.

but for market value you cannot put aside the facts that he is an international and captain at the moment.

look back at the fullbacks we have had over recent years , Holden comes to mind, he is head and shoulders above them and they all went at various times for good money alot based on potential , and thats one thing, i think we all agree on , neil has bags of potential

1 million plus add on's, if you dont ask you dont get!

  7. Wolfenden should start.

He's a good striker. Opportunities have been far and few this season, but he has scored twice.

i personaly would like to see us play 4-4-2 with davies and smalley up front, purley just for smalleys ariel ability, he will provide more a threat than wolfy at the moment.

i fear if we play a 4-3-3 with davies at the point he will drift wide far to often and that will leave us short of numbers in the box.

taylor on the left , allott on the right. its not the best option but at home i think its the best option to get us the win at the moment.

  8. By a different management regime. It was actually a swap for Wellens (happened at the same time).

Shez has publically stated in the past that he's always rated him.

So instead of bleating about taking steps backwards, grasp the nettle. Any idea who we should be aiming for to solve our up front problems?

ive posted a few already, elding at stockport for one, he has been getting good reviews although he has had his problems i know.

i would love to see clarke but that seems to have gone by the wayside.

i am not saying i am an expert on all the srikers around the league but i just dont see vernon doing it for us. (obviously)

anyway its been a fun hour arguing , back to work , ill be back to disagree some more later

  9. Thought Wellens came on a 'Bosman' free?? With Vernon going the other way just coincidence.

yeah , they both left their clubs for nothing, wellens left us for nothing, and now people are discussing bringing back a player who came through our ranks that we let go and now we should spend some of the money that we need to spend wisely on a player not deemed good enough for us last time out.

  10. Because we need a striker who can hold the ball up. Desperately.

A goal every two games. Try and find a better ratio for next to nothing in this division.

You could argue that without Vendog's input off the bench they'd have been just short of reaching the play offs. He's been coming off the bench this season, in a division above and chipping in with a goal or two.

But they are in a division above. And they didn't get rid of him in the summer.

He's older and wiser than the raw version we had when he was scoring that 1:2 ratio I talked about earlier. he's not particularly injury prone and he will add an aerial threat on set pieces which we've been sickeningly short of all season.

No. But it's a myth to say ex players never do well. Aside from players we got back 10+ years after we sold them we've not done so bad.

It'd be like showing a dog a card trick I fear.

maybe they didnt get rid in the summr because no body wanted him, he was not first choice for them last season but he is now good enough for us because the team where he cannot hold down a first team place over a period of 2 years are in the division above. we need a big man, i agree but im sorry if he cant make blackpools first team or ours when he was here last time and colchester didnt want him when they were in our division he is simply not good enough.

its a nice thought that he has improved so much over 2 years without playing regular that he will be great for us but just because you know who he is and have seen him play a few times does not make him good enough for a team with ambition to move up a division.

my point is if we want out of this division we need to be looking at a better calibre of player like hughes, like davies and not people who maybe be good just because thay are a big man who might be able to hold the ball once in a while.

to many fans looking backwards, he is not good enough to help move this club forward.

good bit of business again , get rid for free and buy back 2 years later, brilliant

  11. can i ask , why people want vernon back?

he was not great the last time he was here.

he was not a regular at blackpool last season thay had better strikers that got them up.

he has barley played this season

he is not good enough for blackpool

do people think it is ambition to sign a player back who is not good enough for a team who where one of our main rivals?

he is a big man yes but what else?

it is working with allott but do you think every player that comes back will be better?

im sorry but i cant understand the it, we are now a forward looking club, with a forward looking board!

why are so many of you fans looking back to an unsuccessful period for players?

i dont get it, can someone please expalin it to me.

i appreciate what he did when he was here, the goal against city, he will always be remembered for that, but he will be remembered for being mediocre at best

    sorry to rant! :)

  12. With regards to ambition you're always going to get the fall out should we accept it 'we've no ambition, selling best players'

    You know the type.

selling best players and bringing another old boy back, would show a total lack of ambition, tell them where to go i say.

  13. if we play 442 at home and stick to 433 away , we will pick up more wins at boundary park , at home we have to dictate the play and the 433 does not work, away from home we deal with the pressure and play alot more break away football, its suits us to bring pressure on to ourselves, teams sit back at boundary park and do the same that we have done for the last 10 away games or so. we just need to be alittle smater in possesion, if we can get a big man up front, i think our home form will improve ten fold. as long as another striker like hughes plays directly off him.

people moan at football its part of life, we have them at latics everyone does, in my wyes its the formation thats the problems, not the fans , although some do need to have a word with themselves. i said it before we are a young team and over the next twelve months we will improve even more.

  14. That Adam Griffin shout is a cracker! Plus aided by Eyres that day who set the goal up. Two of the finest displays, backed up by Pogs in net. TBH, sadly, this is difficult as a lot shade into insignificance compared to some of the away performances (Armstrong silencing Joe Cole in the Lge Cup and Hazell at Everton being two of the best I've ever seen from our lads.)

chris waddle for bradford a few years back and for spurs in 87 class player

  15. Oh Mr Palmer you would rather them stand and fight would you? great advert for your family club, and im a muppet am I, Mr im politacally correct when it suits me, Let me get this right, and i,v read your post a few times, you have beef because they would run away if confronted, well it certainly isnt you confrontin em is it? you got a problem deal with it, thats what i do. A MUPPET HHMMMM.

is that Lancs cheese and lemon curd on the same bread or twoe seperate butties?

i have a beef with the way some of them act in general at boundaty park and from what i have read over the last few months on here , lots of people sat in the chaddy do as well. they dont seem to have respect for our own fans, our own players (past or present).

they give a bad image to the club and after what i heard against walsall i would rather they where not there at all! i was just pointing out that they will one day get in to more trouble than they can handle

i take it you do think that the chants are ok then?

i deal with it mate but this is a place to voice an opinion and debate the matters of our club, so that is what i am doing.
