Gathering dust in the loft after a good few years given pride of place on hung on the stairs and landing, but we're redecorating and no point them gathering dust in the loft - worth putting on ebay? (I've sold a load of other old shirts and got a decent amount but none framed etc…all DIY)

Lovely collection Paul - How much would a 'Buy it Now' be for the Lees shirt framed? I'd be very interested.

  2. I've seen Benji play a few times for Hibs, used as a useful sub on 3 occasions. Didn't do anything amazing but he put himself around and liked the odd trick here and there akin to Morais. Certainly knows where the goal is provided he gets good service.

I'd leave McDonald... not the player he used to be and I feel Scottish football has not done him any favours. Had a shocker for Hamilton at the weekend (admittedly have only seen the lowlights).

  3. Surprised it hasn't been done before now. Would be great to be at the match, on the way to a match (home and away) and read the programme on a mobile device. The opportunity for advertisers to have links to their sites etc is huge too.

The possibilities are endless too once you are in the digital format. Live updates to ensure all team line-ups are correct, substitutions added, unique UGC (photos) specific to each game, half time competitions, the final score on the cover etc.

  4. Give me a week and I'll come up with alternatives - not that anyone 'up there' will bat an eyelid. I came up with quite a few kit designs a few weeks ago that generally received positive reactions. I haven't really posted since but this has made my blood boil. Old men with old views of the modern world was never going to produce anything pretty.

I don't think alternatives are the way to go, what's the point, it's already been decided. The skill and more difficult part is applying the branding onto other materials... posters, mugs, stickers, billboards, bus sides, brand an aeroplane, will it work on a TV advert etc.

  5. Sorry if it's been asked before but I can't be bothered filtering through 23 pages of opinion - why wasn't there some kind of vote? We've had votes for kits in the past which, in my opinion, are far less significant. Genuinely upset with the powers that be. I'da created 10-15 samples on photoshop FOR FREE. Each one would've been far better than this lazy, tacky effort. 'Oh, but the two, yes two shades of blue on the crest represent the hills of Oldham!' - give me a break.

Why not send your ideas to Alan/Simon and volunteer your services for the next stages... taking the branding forward for example? You make the design process sound so simple, especially when the word FREE i used.

  6. No offense, but I've worked in the accounts department in a graphic design company and the only people that really think like this are the graphic designers themselves, and it's this sort of stuff they come up with when trying to justify to potenial clients why they should spend loads of money on it. It might work for McDonald's, Microsoft and Sky, but it won't make a jot of difference to John the Bakers and, I'm afraid, Oldham Athletic.

That's your opinion, but more importantly as a Latics fan, I disagree also.

  7. is a new badge really a big change??

    waste of time and money

Yes, if everything else follows the same forward thinking. A logo/ identity should not be created in isolation. With it should come a whole new tone of voice on the website, new style of imagery, attitude to match etc. If all we get is a new badge and nothing else to back it up then Latics will miss a big opportunity. I think and hope Eden will be trying to implement many of the above as much as they can.

  8. I'm delighted the club have been bold enough to make a big change, and as a graphic designer I can appreciate the amount of work that has gone into this.

I will wait to see how the new 'brand' is applied across other items before I make up my mind. My first impression is I like it but I worry about the size of the type.

For the font geeks out there, I think the font used is Memphis (very similar).
