  1. something for penney to read and think about...

"Since I took the job our play has been marked by brave, attacking football.

Sometimes we've been bold and, occasionally, I think we've played audaciously.

It's a philosophy of football. Win or lose I want us to show who we are and what kind of football we believe in. I want my team to go out and be themselves.

Those of us lucky enough to work at this level in our profession must never forget that it's only a sport.

We live in a world where everything is spiralling in cost and many people need to make a big sacrifice in order to go and watch a game of football.

So for me it all makes sense, the effort, the work, the planning, the concentration and the discipline, if you do it for the people.

The manner in which we play is a demonstration of the respect we have for the people who pay for a ticket or pay money to watch matches on television."

  2. What ?! you saying seeing Lionel Messi is better value for money than Lewis Guy?

Ibrahimovic is better value than Abbott?

Xavi is better entertainment than Furman?

    your deluded mate

    its close isn't it!

dearest ticket i've ever bought -£91 for el classico -face value...worth it? course! we won 2-0 !!

applied for a champs league final ticket-cheapest is 90€ + handling charge of 20€ ..its thoses little "extra payments" that piss me off.

but the whole point here is if you consider the price of your ticket..latics/barca/whoever is value, you will pay-no matter what.

latics isn't value for money at the moment...its dull.

  4. FC United, the Manchester United fans' breakaway club, has announced plans to build a new 5,000-capacity stadium costing about £3.5m.

The club said it hoped the council would contribute £650,000 towards its new home in Newton Heath.

Manchester City Council said it was considering funding options but had no defined figures.

Andy Walsh, FC United's general manager, said the new base would be "at the heart of the community".

"What we're hoping to do is develop a modest 5,000-capacity ground with community facilities, a new astro-turf pitch, refurbished sports, a community room to be used by people in the local area and offer other sporting opportunities on the site," he said.

    'Truly community-based'

Manchester City Council leader Sir Richard Leese added that the club did a "fantastic job" within the community.

  5. That's not 100% right Johnny. They ARE looking for outside investment, in the form of partners for the new ground and associated developments, they aren't actively looking to sell the club, much as you wouldn't actively look to sell your house if you still wanted to live in it.

    info from barry.

i'm talking about investment on the field...as all are here.

like i say..they stand to gain more financially by staying put then asking for others to come on board.

    whats their priority now?

staying up and getting a team fit to challenge next season or moving to failsworth?

.." much as you wouldn't actively look to sell your house if you still wanted to live in it."

but wouldn't you be looking to sell if you had a problem/no longer wanted to finance it?

  6. Actually I think we've got too many poor players. I used to be so proud that we had 5000 hard core supporters that no matter what would be everything the red scum fans were not. The Dunkirk spirit that was seen in those dark days of the Chris Moore demise was a pleasure to be part of and whilst I reserve the right for those who pay to show their irk, I am whole heartedly getting sick of the boo's at every game. The ironic cheers at every opportunity. We are Latics ffs lets come on here and vent our frustrations not at the ground.

I think it's time to lobby the board to look for some outside investment, some help they need. If those who are staying away now are only doing so till we see an improvement in players/manager/board and will defo be back once we do, how can you prove it? Why not one game make it a board awareness day. Show them what the crowd could be at BP if it was got right. Every fan turn up to that one match and make our own fun on the terracing and f*** the players to do it for us. Can we the fans mobilise that?

they have said they are not ACTIVELY looking for outside investment or selling the club.

they want to "see the job through"...

    business is business.
