  1. i agree about eardley, his problem and lomax's as well is that they both insist on standing inside the wingers rather than being next to them on the touchlines where they should be and marking them - instead they leave acres of space for wingers to receive the ball and by the time theyve got out to them the guys have put in the cross without even half a challenge, this happened again tonight with eardley near the end in the chance where their guy blazed over with an open goal - his positional sense is appalling and that for me is why i dont rate him.

Dont know why tommy and shez cant sit in the directors box a half each and see the game from a fans perspective - they'd have the eardley positional problem spotted in a second!

As for liddell, yes the guy has good experience and good in the dressing room but honestly he shouldnt be at the club anymore, hes hindering the development of smalley and taylor(on the right) i for one hope he doesnt start the season there - i see him bringing nothing to the team anymore and if anything slows the play down, sorry lids!

  2. seems hes seeing which southern team offer him the best deal, doubt hes comin to oldham, i know i wouldnt uproot from living down south to come up north for 1 or 2 years uprootin family/being away from family. However, either money will talk or he may want a change of scene and try to get back into the championship. so who knows...?

personally id rather have westlake - younger, fairly experienced, northern and an eye for goal ;)

  3. There is a post on www.oafc.co.uk from someone with info from a ..ahhmm.. 'very reliable source' which says we are after Ian Westlake the central midfielder from leeds united, if true this seems to suggest that Maher isnt going to sign for us and will stay in the south and sign for swindon/gillingham.

Id prefer westlake over maher anyway to be honest, younger and can tackle and attack and hit a mean volley as we saw last year. Be a good midfield next year anyway thats for sure: Allott, Whitaker, Stephens, Westlake/Maher, Lee? Just wonder how we will keep everyone happy with no reserve league this year, how will they all keep fit?!

    Thoughts?

  5. absolutely gutted to hear the news almost crying. if the worst does happen it will be tough doing a minute silence/applause for the end of someone so young and such a nice bloke, never a great player but gave absolutely everything and one of my favourite players since ive been watching latics.

    keep fighting ernie KTF

    OAFC ALWAYS

  6. that squad was also based on a vastly inflated budget - m**** trebled the wage bill to 3mill a year and that squad wasnt brilliant, had people like duxbury, eyre, d sheridan all hard workers but not what you'd call stand outs ala wellens etc.

hopefully weve got a squad with players wanting to prove themselves and do well with us lets wait and see, shez knows he has to get this years squad right so if we fail to get minimum top 6 on his head be it.

of course we will be in the top 2 but i dont want to go overboard just yet!

  7. andy welsh, mark kennedy, livermore - think we still need a left winger/left back and another centre mid who can create then we're laughin although i expect these may come on loan now, not exactly bought the 'experience' that shez was looking for have we?

seems we can actually declare interest in a player- why dont we mail that we are after players to go to oldham??!

oh and that guy branston looks decent.....

    :D

  8. Donny fan here. Always seems to me to have lots of ability but with Wellens and Stock being so good in midfield he hasn't had much of a chance. Not sure he really likes the 3 man midfield and the workrate that's needed in the role he gets asked to play. When he last started for us against Swansea we got smashed after he was brought in. All goals came down his side as he didn't track back and help Roberts out. Since that he hasn't had a look in.

I like him and feel if he gets a run and works a bit harder he can do a job, sadly I think he'll go. Wouldn't be surprised to see him head to you in some kind of deal for Taylor, most likely a little bit of cash plus Woods in my view. Wouldn't be bad for us or you really as Woods has potential to be very good in my view.

is he an AM or LW, we could do with a good AM! judging by his goals him and allott would seem to be a good combo

  9. wouldnt be too fussed either way to be honest, he's wasted out on the left in my opinion, got the pace but hes easy for defenders to read and we dont really get much end product from him to be fair. Hopefully we will be bringing in a left winger to release him to his natural side which is where he is at his best in my opinion. Id rather keep him than him go to donny dont get me wrong, but if a silly offer was made eg 700k+ and shez will only play him on the left then id be inclined to accept.

All have our own opinions of course....

  10. darlo fans views on keltie:

Keltie is a very good midfielder. He is very creative, likes a pass and is strong on the ball. A lot of the darlo fans just follow the crowd to be honest 413 and for some reason theyve targetted Kelts. I think he would do well in your league, but i really hope we can keep him as hes one of my favourite players.

The Darlo fans have for some reason built up this idea that Keltie is rubbish so no matter how well he does for us it will never be enough. Would be a very good signing.

be interesting to see him in a higher league with a bit more time on the ball, can be prone to some mad wayward passes, but generally a sound player when he keeps it simple. trouble is, if he starts a game badly more often than not he goes on to have a mare, suppose it doesnt help when everyone gets on his back tho

he's played a few blinders and a few stinkers, as do most of the players down this end of the league, its the consistency that lets most of them down.

id have mixed feelings about him leaving, and i dont think any of us really know what the impact would be until he does eventually leave and try somewhere else

    deffo wortha punt tho
