  1. To be honest the next statement i'm gonna say,I have actually no idea who originally said it but it rings true to our current predicament this season: "your only as good as your strikers" at the end of the day say what you like about the team Dave Penney has assembled this season bit the only flaw this season has been our goal scoring ability weather that be through injuries (yes I know that DP brought Abbott in who is an injury prone player so ie DP's fault but if every manager DIDN'T sign players who were injury prone then the likes of Michael Owen, Ledley King wouldn't have become as good as they are, sometimes a manager has to take some risks and yes there are flaws in my statement!) or shocking misses ie Kiegan Parker Vs Millwall then the team has performed exceptionally well this season. Gregan has played the best i've ever seen since his loan spell. Dale Stephens has put in a couple of good performances, Danny W can actually beat the 1st man with a corner now! lol So there are definate positives to take from this season and i do genuinely believe we will stay up and that DP is the best man for the job. KTF
  2. Gotta agree with yard dog, its get seriously repetitive, your turning a possibly valid point into useless drivel! seriously mate get a grip
  3. Corp Jones is once slight chance you could possibly contribute to a topic without having to raise the subject of the demise and inevitability of the destruction of OAFC? Any chance at all?
  4. Now i'm only 22 years old so to be fair I haven't had the luxury of seeing the "glory" years. All I've seen is the slow demise of my football club, then it was "saved" by Chris M**re, then after his eventful tenor we were really saved by 3 of the nicest bunch of fella's, I've had the pleasure to meet. Now I'm not saying there perfect, but neither do they and yes they have made mistakes (which they openly admit) and we wouldn't be human if we didn't, but can anyone honestly put there hands on there hearts and tell me that they think Simon, Simon & Danny have made one single desicion about this club without the clubs best interest at heart?? They won't be around forever, which they also openly admit but they are trying to but the club on a level playing field before they do go, and it actually astounds me that any Oldham fan would have the downright audacity to question the motives of the TTA. They say wisdom comes with age, so can the "TTA out brigade" start using some and tell why it would be a good idea for the tta to pull out now without a suitable investor in place to take over from them?? KtF
  5. My link to the "rich" clubs is that they've kept faith in there managers to make them very rich clubs - Fergie is the one who has made the team successful & success brings cups moneys, league moneys and sponsorship moneys. Am I really I 35th time writer, well I never
  6. First time writer, long time reader! I'm not a big poster on here but read the majority of posts and I like most, if not all fans, is disillusioned with the current results we're getting. Lets not forget though the majority of games this season we've been there or there abouts in getting results, its been the players on the pitch who have been letting DP down. I'm not saying Penney isn't completely at fault in any of the results, some of his signings could be considered slightly suspect and tatics at times could be a little off but I do genuinely believe that DP is the right man to take this club to the next level. Great teams take time to create. (the old adage Rome wasn't built in a day comes to mind!) Look at the likes of United, Arsenal, Liverpool, AC Milan - Have kept there managers for long periods of time and been given the opportunity to create there teams and build them into workhorses and passionate for playing for there team. We need now more than ever to KEEP THE FAITH in our players, owners & manager EDIT: Seems I can't spell our own gaffers name! Dave Penney - woops

  9. Sara this forum is a collection of completely useless titbits of information that you'll prob never need to know, but is still highly entertaining! This surely is now the longest thread on OWTB, surely??
  10. Well getting to grips with the offside rule is probably the hardest rule to grasp. you were in one of our national newspapers today! The Sun - http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/...see-Oldham.html
  11. Just read the entire thread from start to finish, watched every video! Funniest thing I've ever read in my life but brilliant! KtF girls (by god you'll need it) Loving the Offside video you put up girls!
  12. Few clubs managerless at the moment. Think any of them can tempt shez? Barnsley?
  13. My apologies, Mr Shankly but Sky Sports was fresh out of Latics stories at quarter to twelve at night!
  14. eferee Tom Henning Ovrebo has revealed Uefa have imposed a gagging order on him from speaking on Chelsea's controversial UEFA Champions League exit to Barcelona. Barca's progress to the final was overshadowed by the angry reactions of a number of Chelsea players to Ovrebo at the final whistle of the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. The Norwegian offical was confronted by John Terry, Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba after ignoring a number of penalty claims from Chelsea during the game. Ballack appeared to place his hands to Ovrebo after he turned down an appeal from the German in the dying seconds when his shot looked to have struck the arm of Samuel Eto'o. Drogba, who was substituted in the game, had to be restrained by club stewards as he tried to approach Ovrebo with the Ivorian being booked for his protests. Ovrebo admitted he had been informed by Uefa not to make any comment on the furore with Europe's governing body expected to look into the actions of the Blues players at the end of the game. "Because of the circumstances after the match, Uefa has asked us not to comment to the press," Ovrebo told Aftenposten. When asked if he knew when he could speak about the match, Ovrebo said: "No, I don't know." Report Reports suggest Ovrebo was smuggled out of the country by police on Thursday morning after receiving a number of death threats as a result of the controversy. Uefa have confirmed they will wait for the referees' report before deciding whether any Chelsea players will face disciplinary proceedings. A Uefa spokesman said: "We will see the report from the referee and match delegate before deciding whether to take any action or not." Ovrebo was widely criticised by Blues boss Guus Hiddink, but Uefa have refused to comment on the official's performance. "We never comment on the performance of the referee," added the Uefa spokesman.
  15. Does anyone know how to use the editor on this? Can't seem to find one?
  16. The same Jim Gannon who took Stockport from 24th in league two to 8th in league one in just over two seasons. The only reason they are 13th now is because they're on the verge of administration and the players have lost motivation. Yeah clearly dreading his appointment!!
  17. I have to disagree, now I admit I currently am an irregular visitor to BP on matchdays through work but the TTA basically allowed shez any player he wanted and prob over stretched there budget this season. They are trying to run a business and are pumping a lot of there own money into the club. What happened the last time we tried to compete with the big boys of the league??? We all know what happened there. As far as I am concerned the TTA are doing there bloody best to get us up with out destroying the club.
  18. As I said I don't go often put prob more than you! lol. I will hold my hands up and say I am wrong if the majority of ppl on here agree with you but in my opinion he has been a very impressive centre half. I will agree he has been caught out on a few occasions for goals but he is defo up there as one of JS best signings, very impressive.
  19. I work most Saturday's so can't attend a lot of games but I am there for the one's I can. From what I have seen this season we have in principle a good squad and I do think JR is the man for the job at the moment. I think even if he does crap he's previous exploits will keep him as a club legend. The squad should not even contemplate a lap of honour, they have let themselves, the club, the fans and the town down. The team is a GOOD one but consistency is lacking. Usually most seasons I have a good idea who should stay and who should go but this season I really am flumexed! Allot is a good player but does he really link the attack and defence as well as he should do?? Whitaker pretty much the same as allot but has got better under big Joe Eardley is in my opinion a really good player has had a few :censored: games and has had a lot of ridicule off fans but I think has also got better under JR. Hazell in my opinion is player of the season, has been class in the games i've seen this season. Think Gregs should be offered a one year deal but shouldn't be capitano. New LB required. Taylor Class enough said really. 2/3 new strikers required, the only one i'd kepp is allessandra. Smalley again should be kept
  20. Although I agree with the majority of your points raised I must disagree on the Hazell thing, Rueben Hazell has been by far one of the most consistent, impressive players we have had all season. He's has been top notch and easily in contention for player of the season.
  21. Hiya m8, Got HP Notebook and the screen has gone dead. Done it a few times before, but by removing the battery and other little tricks its not been a problem but now it has gone Kaput for good! Anything you can do? From my limited knowledge it seems as though its over heating and it could be down to that, my big worry is that the over heating has fried the mother board or summat similar. Cheers, Matt
