I was pro signing Hughes. He came out, talked to the family of the person he killed, did plenty in the community, and genuinely seemed remorseful for what he'd done.
Evans hasn't shown an iota of remorse for his actions. He sounds very much to me like he thinks he can treat women however he pleases without consequences, arguably the most vile product of 'Lad culture'. His crime was appalling, his conduct since almost as bad.
I don't subscribe to this nonsensical view that we should give him a break as he might be innocent either. I believe the phrase is "innocent until found guilty" - well he's been found guilty, and that's what I'll believe until such a time that the conviction is overturned!
Signing Evans would be driving me away from my own club, as I sure as hell won't be stepping foot in Boundary Park as long as he's playing there.

First game this season (typical that I time it in the middle of this run!!). Could definitely see glimmers of the team that went so many unbeaten, particularly in the first half. I don't think we deserved to lose at all, could have been going in at Half Time 2 or 3 up with a bit more luck and a bit more clinical finishing. I think they threatened once the entire half resulting in a heroic goal line clearance.
Second half was a little slower but we were still on top - red was absolutely blatant, not sure about their pen as I was in the Chaddy. George's goal seemed to take an age to go in but was thoroughly deserved. Still raging about their goal - it looked an absolutely blatant pen for the tackle on Mills which left him in agony on the floor. Even if it wasn't, the game frankly should have been stopped for him to get treatment! That being said we did seem to stop playing and perhaps a little more concentration would have stopped them before they even got to our half.
Possible pen at the end as well - their lad almost pulled his bloody shirt off!
Decent performance, lack of cutting edge, frustrating afternoon - but hardly the end of the world. Another day we'd have won that 4 or 5 nil, especially if we'd gone in ahead at HT.

Brilliant website for lower league stats, definitely worth following, and this one is an interesting read. Hadn't realised how well we were doing at recovering points after going behind, second only to Bristol City!

I don't think it's a booking. The officials should check equipment prior to kick off and substitutions and not allow any player to enter the field of play without adequate equipment. If he's playing without shinpads then it's the ref/lino/fourth official who have made the mistake.
Still a booking, officials should notice but it's the player's responsibility.

1) MK Dons - no matter how much we hate ManUre at least they never stole their club!
2) United - always disliked but even more so around the sacking of Moyes - all this talk about "The United Way" of doing things as if they were some bloody godly entity, a plane above the mere mortals of the football world - not even just the club but the bloody fans as well, pretentious :censored:s!
3) Leeds - the club genuinely made me think twice about going to study in the city - however not on the same level as the above two really for me.

15th June - would appear to confirm the Sports Direct deal then?

Thought a lot about this - this plan is nonsense and would add absolutely nothing. It would be relatively easy to sort out the English game as I see it:
- Announce now that starting in 2020, 7/11 of the starting XI for all Premier League clubs must be eligible for selection by England. This would force them to immediately put some of their big bucks towards youth systems.
- Put proper investment into grassroots - maybe a tax by the FA of 1% on transfer fees to cover it?
- For God's sakes stop putting children on full sized pitches. Refereed many an U12 game that ends up about 13-8 because the goal is 8ft high and the goalkeeper is half that! They just end up shooting from anywhere!
- Maybe further reform the youth game - no 11 a side leagues till 14? Play small sided stuff till then, on appropriately sized pitches
Not a chance in hell they'll do it, would likely ruin their precious profit margins...

"Most blatant you'll ever see" I've told you a million times not to exaggerate. He was being fouled and shrugged their lad off, their lad flattening Wes first half was a gazillion times more of a booking. Wank inconsistent refereeing.
Granted I was in the chaddy so some distance away, but he's needlessly and petulantly pulled their player over - a booking every single day of the week. You're right that it was a booking at least for the assault on Wes though.
-
2nd booking was the most blatant you'll ever see! Missed the first but makes sense if it was for dissent, he'd been arguing with the ref all the way through. Shame that he's let himself down, had an excellent game otherwise.
-
Disagree that it was a massively bad performance, quite a few chances made - just need someone on the end of them! Consistent striker could see us top 10. Personally feeling optimistic now, new stand looks fantastic, atmosphere was great, onwards and upwards!
-
Disadvantage is that you can't sit in the stand that you bought an ST for.
Those fans who got a discount on the ticket for the alleged inconvenience?
-
Obviously a extreme example but it shouldn't be too much to ask that the club start thinking about its own supporters first and what they want rather than trying to save/pinch a few quid at every opportunity.
Do you honestly think that a single Latics fan is going to miss out on the game or in any way be disadvantaged by this?

Well I'm coming back from Uni for my first game in forever with my brother so that's another 2 ;-)

Montano's was good to be sure, but I certainly wouldn't say it's the best... 2 or 3 better out of those for me! As for the best, has to be Harkins' for sheer class for me.

No chat today?

Is it? I thought it was below the elbow...
Anything up to the point of the shoulder these days as below

Upper arm is still handball.

An easy solution is to ensure that every player who goes off with a head injury has to complete the short assessment they have in Rugby before they can go back on, keeps genuine ones safe and stops non-genuine ones.
Good idea for the professional game but frankly I wouldn't trust the Under 14s coach to conduct a thorough neuro exam at the level I ref at!
-
Neither of tonight's head injuries were genuine.
What can be done to stop this blatant abuse of the requirement for the referee to stop the game, without endangering players who have a genuine head injury?
Oh, and if we want to compete a drop ball we should be allowed to do so.
As a ref, if I even suspect a head injury I'm going to stop play... Much rather break up play for no reason than have a guy lying there with a genuinely injury without treatment for a second longer than he has to.
And there's no Law saying that teams can't compete drop balls, just considered good sportsmanship so most teams comply.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Bet you're regretting that now!! ;-)

Yeah LP is on! Ridiculous that it's not on TV - still as long as United are on, eh?
-
Hmmmm you might want to rethink to be honest.
They will play hoofball, and we wont cope....
Just my opinion like,id be happy to be wrong...
Why do you bother following football? It's like you actually get off on loosing...
What happens next?

Absolutely fine by me! No doubt whatsoever that he works his socks off as a director (as much as I disagree with some of his decisions), but he clearly isn't suited to the job of fans' representative any more. Became clear to me earlier this season with his ridiculous anti-fans statement! He's pushing his own agenda with regard to Evans rather than the fans', and that's just not on...
