  1. Would have probably taken a point ahead of time, certainly 4 goals is something to celebrate, including literally one of the best goals I've ever seen an Oldham side score... but hard to feel anything other than gutted with that!!
  2. Sam says Clarke not actually out of Bury on Tues - this was supposedly only his 3rd booking!
  3. Did Roy just start rapping over the intro of this song??
  4. Really good game & cracking atmosphere. Goal was a fantastic pass & finish - so nice having strikers you know will put those chances away! Fane excellent winning the ball, Clarke outstanding in defence as always. Hoping against hope for RW to get the job tomorrow, I really think we've got something resembling a team there!
  5. Just been on the OS to buy tickets online but it's coming up saying there are none available - am I missing something or has it sold out??
  6. Incredibly unlikely, player would have to track back from opposing half to the corner flag and somehow touch the ball before anyone else!
  7. Love this man, gutted it hasn't worked out (personally I'd have given him a few more weeks at least). I couldn't believe the escape he pulled off after DK/DD, to pull it off again the next season was incredible. Hope something works out for him in the future.
  8. Lost his man down the left too many times to count in the first half and din't seem to know where he was meant to be or what he was doing! Much better second half, sure those problems could be ironed out and we might just have a handy player.
  9. I'll talk about health since that's my field - I do think there's something to be said for doing things better & more efficiently rather than just throwing more money at it. As an example, health & social care really does need to be better integrated (currently the former sits under NHS and the latter under LAs) - I've seen dozens of medically fit elderly patients sat around in expensive hospital beds because there's nowhere for them to be discharged to. Having all the H&SC money in a single pot could be a great opportunity to rebalance the system and hopefully stop this from continuing to happen.
  10. Some exciting opportunities coming with this role if played right - DevoManc with devolved Health & Social Care budget could enable the region to set the standard for how things should be run. I'm behind Burnham all the way, think he's got some great ideas (not least the nursing bursary) & the experience needed. Although I will still refuse to say that I'm from Manchester!!!
  11. I may have misunderstood so asking a genuine question, if winning the appeal means he's definitely innocent then why is there going to be a retrial?
  12. Not innocent - just won the right to a retrial! I thought we shouldn't have even been thinking about going anywhere near him at the time, this doesn't change that for me.
  13. Last time we won by more than 1 goal was the Mansfield replay in the cup last November (2-0). Last time in the league believe it or not was Rochdale at home last March (3-0)!!! As far as I can see that Dale game was also the last time we won both halves. When you put it like that it really highlights what a miserable year or so it's been (pre-Shezurrection of course).
  14. Would be happy with Redfearn or Shez who's out of work arm - alternatively could hold on a couple of games and get Mourinho!! ;)
  15. https://twitter.com/BBCMancSports/status/642744210408521729 BBC reporting he's gone!
  16. Starting XI - Coleman, Brown, Wilson, O'Connell, Mills, PhillIskirk, Winchester, Yeates, Dunn, Murphy, Stankevicius. Subs - Dieng, Croft, Jones, Poleon, Cornell, Burn, Turner.
  17. Stone wall penalty? Sat right in front of it in RRE & it looked one of the the most blatant dives I've seen at BP!
  18. Point being? It hasn't been overturned, and I'll be astounded if it is. Until such a time I'll take him to be a convicted rapist. And rapists are not the victims last time I checked...
  19. Vitriol around Hughes never reached anything like these levels. Sure as hell don't remember us being top story on BBC News for the best part of a week! Rightly or wrongly the more connected world of 2015 (Twitter, change.org etc etc) have made this much larger than Hughes' signing. Not to mention that Hughes did actually seem remorseful and willing to engage with the rehabilitative process, unlike Ched "having sex with a girl I've never met who is utterly pissed off her head is somehow not rape" Evans...
  20. Well over the last few days for me it's been pretty much non stop debating with various different people who know of my allegiance to Latics regarding the moral and ethical points of whether or not Ched Evans should be allowed back in to football. I've barely actually thought about it with a Latics head on, but the seeming finality of the decision now has made me do so. Introducing myself as an Oldham fan has always brought me a certain amount of pride. Supporting my local team rather than going the easy route to enjoy unrivaled success of larger clubs on our doorstep, sticking with the team through thick and thin (frankly having been born after the Royle years, it's been a hell of a lot more thin!!), and absolutely wearing my heart on my sleeve when it comes to all things Latics. It's a big part of my identity. I've always taken a certain amount of pleasure in wearing my Latics shirts when walking through the streets in Leeds (where I'm at Uni), proud of where I'm from, and proud of being part of the community of Oldham supporters. This signing has destroyed all of the above for me. No longer when the words 'Oldham Athletic' are mentioned will people think of those famous FA Cup ties against Liverpool and Everton. No longer do they see a young team playing good football for a good young manager. No longer do they see a club with loyal, committed fans. Oldham Athletic now means just one thing - a club who signed a convicted rapist. And that is all that our club will be to anybody for a very long time. Every match at Boundary Park from now until he leaves will be held in a vile, hostile atmosphere. The rest of the footballing world hates us, and our own fans are now split. Every goal Evans ever scores will be reported with the words 'convicted rapist' beginning the sentence. Every point he wins with his goals will be tainted, and any success the club achieve through these points will be hollow. I will not be able to take any pleasure whatsoever in the achievements of my own club so long as he is on the playing staff. This alienates a huge number of fans. No matter the numbers on either side of the argument, who can honestly say that they think a decision driving away loyal supporters in droves is a good one? Only a few posts up, Bristolatic (whose post summed up my views wonderfully) says that he feels unable to continue with Oldham Athletic, many others are saying the same thing. These are supporters who have followed the club through thick and thin for several times longer than Simon Corney has been at the club, and Barry Owen has been a member of the board - how can an action driving away these supporters possibly be the correct course to take? I'll forever be grateful to SC for saving our club, and am always mindful of this when criticising him. I feel he's made the wrong decision, but can forgive him for it. Barry Owen on the other hand, the so called fans' representative, is driving away those he claims to represent! He is an absolute disgrace. I'm heartbroken, I'm angry, and I'm resigned. I don't know how much success or otherwise this will bring it. All I know is I bloody well won't be there to see it.
