Bill Waddington (Percy Sugden from Corrie)claimed he used to be a regular at BP back in the day, when he was interviewed on TV during the "Pinch Me" season.During the same interview Michael Le Vell (Kevin Webster form Corrie)also said he occasionally went to watch Oldham.

Don't forget, the "King of All Geordies" comes from Burton. :-)

If anyone's memory needs refreshing, this is the Burton Mail's report on the match at BP last time.
I once played for a local pub team that held Burton to a goalless draw in a midweek tournament on the artificial pitch at Shobnall (the local playing fields). Warnock was manager at the Albion and they had a few first teamers in the side that night. The report in the following night's Burton Daily Mail praised us quite a bit. I probably still have it somewhere.

What was the attendance?
I don't know. But I had to laugh when the commentator said that Paul Scholes was leaving early to "beat the traffic"!

Well deserved. I thought that apart from the first fifteen minutes or so we were the better team. Defended well when we had to and looked good going forward. With a little bit more composure in front of goal we could have won more comfortably. Nervy last ten minutes but you could tell the players really wanted it!

1-0 at half time - Kuqi. Should have scored again just before the whistle.
We've played well against a good side.

Staying up/getting up to watch the match. Please could someone PM me a link.
Thanks

Yes. :-)

I was there. It was also a notable occasion because news spread around the ground at full time that C*ty had beaten U*d to relegate them. :-)

Hants lose a 6th wicket.
Don't think it matters though.

The problem is the wife and I work together, and she would not thank me at all for implicating her in my shameless lie. I can still play the sickie. All I need to do is lol around in my pyjamas this evening and watch TV, which is pretty much what I'd be doing if I wasn't "sick".
The wife has just been out for more beer. I think I might be the one throwing a "sickie" tomorrow.

One of those things. It would have been the naughtiest thing I'd done for many a year. I couldn't stop giggling when I thought of it.
Maybe I got old.
You'll still have a lot of explaining to do to the wife and the boss!

It could be the beer talking but...I'm starting to believe.

211 from 30 (is it on the red button?)
There's live commentary here

And hundreds of tweets here

Somerset all out for 310. Hopefully Lancs won't commit batting suicide and go on and get 211 to win.
211 from 30 or so overs. My nerves can't take this!!

There is a Rochdale fan who posts on a Thai football forum. He obviously thinks that a trip to BP is a big deal. Here's his most recent offering.
"Yeah Bury are doing great, unlike the Mighty Dale. Massive derby at Oldham and lost 2-0".

48 teams in it.
32 compete in the first round. 16 qualify in addition to 16 getting a bye.
32 in the second round; then 16; then 8; then 4; then 2 in the final.
If they gave 8 a bye you'd have 28 teams in the second round, then 14, then 7 ... then a problem!
It happened in the Thai FA Cup this season. There were 18 teams left after round three, and nobody from the Thai FA noticed! When it was eventually pointed out to them, they had to add an additional round with just two ties in order to get it back on track.

I remember going on The League Liner to watch Latics play Bournemouth in 73/74.

I'm not sure "I've never heard of him" warrants a thank you, but I'll take it!
I'm basing my whole article around it. ;)

Thanks for those links.
