  1. It is said that there are 2 types of people, radiators and Hoovers. Radiators burst with enthusiasm, positive energy and get things done. On the other hand, Hoovers destroy anything positive with their constant criticism and negativity. Both Oldham_Scotland and Latics Observer are Hoovers of the highest degree. In fact it seems that the town of Oldham has a very large percentage of Hoover types who moan about everything. Remember, optimists see opportunity at every problem and pessimists see problems at every opportunity.

  2. The one constant in my life has been the Latics (whether they have been good or bad), I could not imagine what it would be like without my (our) club. In many ways we are preaching to the choir on this message board. We need to get the stay-aways to forget their grievances and come back. Latics are in my blood for ever.

  3. I feel very strongly about this. The greedy league are trying to bully this through. They really do want to cut adrift anyone they consider to not be a big club and want to fix things so that none of the so called big boys will ever go down. This will finally kill off football outside the top two divisions. The process was started with the formation of the Premier League and is now approaching a conclusion. The Premier League has not been good for English football, it has only been good for itself and lining the pockets of mediocre players. The day dreams died.

  4. There are quite a few managers in the non-leagues or coaches (or current/recent senior players) in the upper leagues who are looking to step up to a managerial post at our sort of level. Speed is one (doubt we could afford him though), Butt (ditto- unless he buys the club with the other ginger fella), Holdsworth at Newport, Dean Saunders at Wrexham (might not be available though due to his welsh duties), Mini-Shez (though would you come to the club that treated your brother so badly) etc.

Rob Scott at Boston comes into that category, plus he's an ex Latic.

  5. A teacher asked her class how many of them were Utd fans.

Not really knowing what a Utd fan was, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different...again.

Little Johnny said, 'Because I'm not a Utd fan.'

The teacher asked, 'Why aren't you a Utd fan?'

Johnny said, 'Because I'm a Latics Fan.'

The teacher asked him why he's a Latics Fan.

Little Johnny answered, 'Well, my Mum's a Latics Fan and my Dad's a Latics Fan, so I'm a Latics Fan.'

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, 'If your Mum was a moron and your Dad was an idiot, what would that make you?'

Little Johnny replied, 'A Utd fan'

  6. Now over the season even after the second game i've been one of his biggest critics and only three weeks ago i wanted him out, but over the last month he's started to make me think again.

We've won at home a fair amount in recent times, beating Bristol Rovers, Gillingham & Orient in key clashes, while also winning "must" win games at Stockport and Tranmere efficiently.

Tonight it felt as though the "old" Oldham was back with the way we played, and after a decent performance at Huddersfield it's made me think in a way he perhaps can take us forward.

I still don't like his lack of passion and what was suppose to have happened at Exeter, but with the stick he received it could be seen as understandable. If he can get a bit more passion into the players and himself then he perhaps could be worth another season.

Obviously we need to score more, but it seems to have improved over the last month, he needs to make signings in key areas, and work on scoring, more attacking football, which he does have a history for.

Now depending on how we finish this season he could be worth another season despite all the hate.

Unlucky not to win tonight, created a few decent chances, and on another night could have easily taken the points.

A sensible post; I think Penny will be here next season but please not another season like this one. It has been the least enjoyable one I can ever remember. As I’ve said in a previous post, I do feel as if we have turned a corner. “The darkest hour is the one before the dawn”.

  7. Colbeck threw his drinks bottle to the ground as he reached the bench last night. When he was leaving the pitch, the players on the field made a big point in "hugging " him as he left.

MK were there for the taking last night but I'm very happy with a point and would have gladly settled for that before the game.

On Saturday, for the first time this season I had that feeling we would win. I also really expected us to get at least a draw last night. Perhaps a corner has been turned?

Just a word on the seats at MK. Loads of leg room and they were padded. Best seats in the league.
