I tell you what a lot of players there would do a job in our team. Barring Leeds signings we could have had any of them most of them being good young prem future stars ie Matthew Mills at Citeh Febien Brandy at the Munichs a lot of good players and you talk about panic buying-panic buying is snapping up crappy players on the last day for a large amount because youre pressured to sign someone cos you have cack all else. Get in early best deals and best players. Its common sense

  2. If what Ive heard is correct Taylor came throught the youth team as an attacking central midfielder. Lets say we bring in this striker we need whoever he may be. Stick davies left liddell/smalley on the right and have Allott sitting and Taylor bombing on from the centre. I feel he could do an excellent job in that position and would add an extra 0 to his value. I think hes wasted on the left because he cant use his best asset his pace because he has to come back on his right foot and wont hit the touchline. Whereas Davies when he drifts seems to manage to beat a man every time and deliver a good ball ( albeit to nobody in the box). It would be worth a try and save us money on a new creative midfielder

  3. Anybody think that forget selling taylor and just buy vernon, could be the striker were after. He knows where the net is can hold up the ball and has matured since he left us so would surely be a better player. I think hes probably one of the best options weve got wouldnt cost much neither.

  4. Oh, and I'll be scouting for talent by watching the games and will pass any info onto Shez, so this thread is Oldham related...(worth a go, admin?)

I hear a lad called Drogbas quite good. Also Samuel Eto seems like the sort of striker that could do a job for us. Be able to pick up these African lads quite cheap Id say and well pay em peanuts aswell.

  5. Its ridiculous that we would even consider selling our young players. Ok lets sell him for 500k now next year hell be worth 6 or 7times that and well get another 300k thats a big loss considering we could keep him as hes a raw young talent who could be key in getting us promotion and being a starlet for years to come. Then we could sell him for more money and hell have give us our reward for signing him training him and playing him AFTER he got dumped by Burnley. Some people dont have any ambition for the club. As a fan I dont give a stuff if we get 500k or 5million Id rather watch him on the pitch as its about entertainment. Whats entertaining about getting beat 3-0 but knowing the chairman has a nice big fat cheque in his pocket. People really do over exaggerate our finances. The 3A arent going to stop plowing money in but any they get back they will keep and we wont get any replacements anywhere near as good otherwise we wouldnt sell in the first place. If Trotman Taylor Eardley Davies or any more young player is sold then it shows there is no ambition whatsoever. Whatever happened to all the money we recieved for Spencer and Philliskirk eh.

  6. this is all complete bull! hes just bought a house in diggle with his wife and kids, hes happy and his kids love it at their new school. Family will matter most to him so i cant see him moving his family for the sake of football at his age now unless a really big club comes in, even then i think he'd remain loyal to latics for what we've done for him.

    NEXT...

I doubt its true also, just because they may have bid i doubt the club would accept unless we were talking million + due to how much we must have spent in the chase for him. I understand what your saying about being settled but Burnley isnt exactly the other side of the country, if anyone would sign him I think it would be a northern burnleyesque club I thought that Preston may have been interested with how gash theyve been recently.

  7. Also if were after a left winger is Hoolahan still playing. On another note Ian Westlake from Leeds scored the winner at our place. Was only a sub then good midfielder and with KK there now aswell will be pushed further down the pecking order, may be worth a loan or free deal. Noticed Horlock went to Scunny aswell could have nipped in but never mind. Any other wingers in mind what happened to that Kazim Richards kid from brighton didnt he end up in turkey may be worth a look also.

  8. Apparently Burnely have made a very tasty offer for Hughes. Not sure exactly how tasty as Ive only recieved a text off my mate saying it but Im sure someone on here said he cant leave due to his parole or something. Apologies if im wrong. I wouldnt let him go just yet though Im afraid and Id be sadly disappointed if he left even more so than Kilkenny not joining. It would be selfish if he did due to the fact weve given him a life outside jail. I sincerely hope he doesnt go as he is our only threat at the minute and a crowds favourite aswell. I love the way he tries to get them going.

  9. . I don't know whether Burnley sing all the verses either

Well besides a couple in the chaddy end we dont sing all the verses only this. It has also been sung since I started going 12 years ago but tbh I can remember reading somewhere and with the rivalry of them 2 clubs its defo their song Id rather sing hate man u and city too. Although any Yorkshire or Lashers song is always good as I truly truly hate them.

  10. I always believed it was no ney never and IM sure a few years back it was in the program I think against city in a friednly just a :censored: little A3 piece of paper with it on. And your right it is burnley and I never sing this as tbh what on earth are blackburn to us. Id sooner sing And its Oldham Athletic OLdham Athletic FC theyre by far the greatest team this world has ever seen. And its defo up the footbal league we go.

  11. I just had a genius thought. As the 3rd choice on the website for the new kit is light blue why not pick that therefore it is likely that we will play in orange more due to still being a kit clash with the light blue. Lets con the system

  12. I had a very heated debate after the game as i said "i'd give anything for a Porter type player at the moment". To which an irate gentleman told me i was wrong to have this opinion. We then had a 15 minute long "debate" on who we would rather have in the team.

Just wondered what everyone else reckons?

I was wondering why on earth you had a 15minute debate with someone in those horrible conditions

  13. Please forget that Porter bent us over, base your response purely on footballing ability.

On football ability POrter would lose to everyone he just tapped anything around the goal in. Id rather have Davies much mor e of a threat than porter davies can create opportunities without being gifted them and his pace is terrifying

  14. An example of criticism for the sake of criticism.

    1) was the goal his fault yesterday or on tuesday?

    2) have we conceded many

Yes he might not have been at fault for the goals but lets be fair who really is confident he will save ANY effort on goal. For me the second time they hit the bar at the RRE summed up Crossley - clueless. He raised his hands as if to say it was easily over then all of a sudden bang off the bar and he didnt know what had happened. Think he tends to camera save to much also couple of easy catches were parried over for no reason creating more pressure. Maybe he can organise the defense but I think thats down to Eardley holding a line and to be honest we looked a bit shaky at the back at times yesterday. Bertrand has maybe not benefited from not playing for a couple of games and just didnt seem himself, Stam misjudged a lot of headers but his work on the ground was excellent whereas it was vice versa for Trotman Excellent in air his touch was bad. Think Allott was excellent and Kilkenny absolutely ran the show Taylor was there in glimpses and Mcdonald only showed up to assist the goal and miss the sitter in the dying seconds ( costing me £25 may I add). Overall one of the best games Ive seen and under the conditions we were excellent just a few minor mistakes and missed opportunities. Saying that 2 points from 2 home games is hardly promotion material.

  15. This guy has got bags and bags of potential he is footballing brilliance with the ball and has all the aspects pace, dribbling, ability to beat a man and find the net, but does anyone think the reason he is still stuck with oldham is the fact he is thick. Many times he makes the wrong decision and tends to fluff stuff. He doesnt anticipate anything. I really think tha if he had a bit of nouse he wouldnt be anywhere near oldham, hed be the next Thierry Henry.

On another note anyone see Soccer AM 3rd Eyes CRAIGGGGGGGGGG DAVIESSSSSSSSSSSS

  16. Hes crap I used to play with him couple of years ago hes just one of the lucky ones right place right time goalscorer. Defo not any better than Deano n Wolfenden. I used to play in same school team as Deane Smalley and he was miles above the rest whereas Scott Spencer just looked like any other player when I played with him. And hes a full on noob to go into the hat bit of a Mr Billy Big Balls. Same with the kid in our youth team Ashley Kelly also a :censored:
