I thought was dependent where your iFollow account and banking was based rather  than physical location.

Fair enough - that's understandable. But the game was available in the UK too on Saturday, so I still shouldn't have got the message. I had no problems at all watching the Yeovil game.

You expect some bedding in problems when a service is new but they're now in  to their second season and still  there are hundreds, if not thousands, of users experiencing problems with the service every week. it should be a stable, reliable platform by now.

Nice bit of spin from AL which seems to have placated a lot of the fans but he must have been aware of the creditors if not it is gross incompetence.

    1. You agree a price for the “business” - say £1m for Latics
    2. You work out what the usual level of your ‘current’ assets and debts based on say the average of the last 12 months. This would include all creditors, HMRC debts for things like VAT, PAYE, National insurance etc.
    3. If at the point of the sale the debts are higher than normal, you adjust the sale price by that amount... so if there’s an extra £500,000 of HMRC debts the sale price would reduce by £500,000. It’s to avoid exactly this type of problem.
    4. If there were genuinely debts (HMRC or otherwise) that Corney has hidden from AL, he would have legal recourse under the sale agreement to get that money back from Corney. It would be extremely clear and simple that that is the case.
    5. If the above hasn’t been done in this case, then it would lead me to believe the debts were genuine and AL is commercially very poor.

This is before you look at issues like signing foreign players on financially crippling salaries, suspending the only player who can tackle for the last two games of the season etc

I suspect part of what might have happened here is something that I've see happen a few times out in the real world,.

I.e. Quite a few companies owed money by the football club (not talking HMRC here), possibly going back several years,  reached a pragmatic view that the debt wasn't recoverable at that point in time and therefore stopped chasing it, but didn't actually write it off. Corney, potentially having disputed the validity of those debts anyway to cover himself, assumes that he's 'got away with them' and doesn't declare them as active debts. New owner arrives who appears to have a bit of money, and all those companies owed money start chasing the debts again.  That leaves AL in a position of having to try to determine which ones are valid (probably most of them) and then pay them off.

Of course, AL  will have legal recourse to recover those debts from Corney and I suspect he is going down that route. But will there be anything left to recover from Corney? Possibly not. I wouldn't be surprised if any money he made from the sale has 'disappeared'.

As an aside,  I saw that Anthony Gee ( former Director and, previously close friend of Corney) was at the game on Tuesday sat with AL.

    In other words...

'we will send the cards out to the club when we've received full payment for them, thank you."

I don't think so. The club print the cards themselves. When I lost mine towards the end of last season, I went to the ticket office and  they printed me a new one whilst I waited.

On this occasion, it's probably more likely due to the lad who used to  do it having left and nobody else knows how to work the software/printers properly.

Likely just a nominal address? Doesn't mean he's got a big office there or anything

Probably correct, I was more wondering, from a practical point of view, why he'd set up a  company in a different free zone 30 miles away  when he already had one in another.

The answer is probably the fact that the start up costs are only about 25% of the cost  to set up in JLT. Makes sense if he isn't actually going to conduct any meaningful business from there.

    Cheers Bozman, an invaluable insight.

Outlier, but there are 7 sub zones, that seem to have buildings alpha numeric numbered by the zone.

    One is Prrfume World zone.

Is it possible that P5 refers to Building 5 int he Perfume world?

    http://www.hfza.ae/Portals/0/pdf/HFZA_SME_brochure.pdf

It does not correlate directly to the map.

I don't know if there is any logic to the building numbering to be honest.

What I do know is that, whilst these zones all focus on particular industry sectors, the rules are not rigid. I have a relative with a PR business located in one of the technology/internet zones and AL's agency business was in a  zone focused on Commodities.

I must admit I'm not sure why he'd have the agency office in Jumeirah Lake Towers ( which is a nice area of Dubai) but then set up JLT in Sharjah (which is pretty rough).

RLJ Capital Global Fzc is listed as having significant control of Oldham Athletic (2004) Ltd., having taken over this control from Simon Corney on 24.01.18. The company is based in the United Arab Emirates. I presume this is AL's company?

    https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/04989487/filing-history

I would definitely  assume it is Lemsagam.

The  point of these Free zone companies  in the UAE is that you can only trade within the zone itself or overseas I.e. you have no access to the local market. But they do come with the benefit of residency visas without needing a local  sponsor. So  it's an ideal vehicle for him to invest in a foreign football club yet retain residency for him and his family there.

However, the designation FZC, as opposed to FZE, does mean there is more than one shareholder in the company. That may just be his brother of course, but I guess it's conceivable that another investor is involved.

Or, because he played for N. Ireland in early June he has been allowed an extra week’s rest. It’s not unusual for those who are away on international duty over the summer to be given a later start date for pre-season training.

I guess that's a possibility, but Placide played in post season friendlies too and is back in training.

Youth off to Portugal but we’ve allegedly haven’t got a pot to piss in?

Hopefully it’s all doom and gloom; next week and the start of July a few new faces, FB/AR knocking everyone into shape, new kit then pre-season games.  Need a shot or two of positivity

The Youth team trip is funded by a grant from Erasmus Plus

Followed property rentals for many a year used to look after 520 properties aged 18 and never in a million years will anyone take that on at £75k a year would be insane business. Even a quick look on Rghtmove Commercial confirms not a hope in hell. Who is it up with? Sounds like telling owners what they want to hear not what its true value is.

Dont forget would be other expenses on top. If it was that easy many a good pub would still be operating.

To offer it at that price with no toilets etc is bloody hilarious. At very least a new tenant would be give a long rent free period to put it in order but to do that would be a long lease and protection for tenants. The obvious negative scenario is a lot of good will place finished to a health and safety standard and the owners then pull plug and lease it and work for nothing but them.

Admire the desire to create the bar but for costs involved surely even a new build at back of RR would be better use of funds. Large Hall Sowerby Bridge based company an example giving it Corney etc feels wrong. Surely enough trades people and good will to make something work. Sure Lee at Whitaker design would help with project as a regular.

This sums the situation up pretty well.

It sounds like Blitz and Gazal priced it up on Manhattan commercial prices !

For me, the starting point to allow you to make a decision as to whether a fans bar in that space is viable or not is to go back to the OEC 's agent, tell them you've stopped laughing now but are genuinely interested and want to know what the  real rent would be.

It woudn't surprise me if OEC told the agent that's what they wanted for it and the agent has put it on at that price just to get the listing from them, with the intention of persuading them that the price is unrealistic, after a few months of zero interest.

3 scenarios spring to mind.  I know nothing so all three are guesses -

    1. RW back off holiday, asked about Keenan's article and sacked for his collaboration in said article

    2. RW back off holiday, told what budget is and/or some of that budget will be used to fund AL signings and RW told to accept it

    3. RW back off holiday, AL not happy with relegation and looking at a managerial plan B and today was earliest meetings, paperwork and announcement could be made

Whichever way, it's now known AL has pumped millions in already and publicly committed to club long term with expressed aim to return to L1 then Championship ASAP investing further into club.  Obviously RW, upon reflection, isn't the person to achieve this and AL now has his own person in mind.  In AL I trust

    Here's a 4th possible scenario:

AL decides he wants to replace Wellens at the end of the season, several months ago. He identifies his preferred candidate who is working elsewhere. AL doesn't want the club to be managerless for a significant period of time so leaves Wellens in post until his preferred candidate is available. Preferred candidate becomes available, Wellens is sacked.

Can that not just be sorted out by August rather than the wage bill having to be monitored now?

That's how it works for most clubs i.e. you tally up at the end of a transfer window.

However, when a club is identified as a regular offender on FFP, I believe they go on to a  'constant monitoring'  list where the league keeps a running tally of all ins and outs to ensure compliance.

I think we need to behave for about a year to get off the list.
