  1. Barry is a public figure who wrote an open letter to the people of Oldham, which calls for people to respond in kind. I removed any posts from that thread which were personal in nature that I saw. I'm by no means saying we're 100% in that regard, however the Report function remains and if used we will always review the post in question to see which, if any, rules it contravenes.

Was the 'report' function used in the closed thread?

  2. An enthralling contest without either side throwing everyone forward or creating dozens of chances. We matched League One's supposedly best side. We'll be just right come the end of the season.

A few niggles with the performance, such as over-emphasising the right wing. Our deliveries all game were really poor. I thought Kasunga was a liability at the back and Poleon, though he gave us piercing pace, needs a slap and Johnson stopped short of doing so. We had them pinned in their own half for twenty minutes and the lad wanted the headlines. A superbly hard-fought match. We worked tirelessly (as ever) but simply couldn't get a proper shot off. It's a pity but the signs are so encouraging.

In terms of the atmosphere: Faultless. One of the best for a long, long time. We had City supporters stopping us and applauding our support. You can only smile and be proud when that happens.

On to the FA Cup. Let's respond. If we replicate our performance Orient will be well and truly booted out of the competition next Saturday.

  3. Can we take this down. A witch hunt on a forum is snidey and a little immature imo.

If you want him out, find a better candidate and have a proper debate face to face. Not behind a keyboard and a username.

Democracy, my friend. It is how it works. The internet is now an increasingly popular platform to hold such talks. In fact, we're close to being allowed to vote online in elections and trade unions are demanding the right to contest strike ballots online.

If he wants to support everything the OAFC establishment has to say then I'd vote against him tomorrow. It's far from an attractive quality. He used the local mouthpiece to attack those he is supposed to represent. Moronic.

He wants to get on here more often. Not as a ghost but an active poster.

  4. This thread is hilarious in the sense I've read it from start to finish and laughed out loud a dozen times.

This thread is embarrassing in the sense that if I showed it to a mate I'd go red in the face.

"Rochdale - where everyone are related" :laught16:

Scrap the banners, lads. Please, just scrap them.

  5. Is Lee Johnsons links to Bristol City really the reason behind some travelling? Really? Strange.

We are at reduced capacity. But remind us all of our average home attendance?

Friendly? I couldn't give a :censored: about who I sold my car too as long as they pay for it. If it was a member of my family though even better. Why should city turn away there own fans just to be "friendly" to a club they have no association with?

Some of these posts are :censored:ing embarrassing. The club has warned everyone for 3 weeks its all ticket and a limited number

And sorry but the waiting for payday excuse is crap. If you don't have 20 quid disposable to part with at the end of the month you probably have more important things to spend your money at

What a disgraceful comment. How dare you try to dictate other people's conditions. What an ironic username, too.

    Imagine the following:

You're on minimum wage and on a zero-hour contract (our wonderful, glorious sponsors dish these out like they're going out of fashion) and you pay all of your bills and your only source of enjoyment is to take in a football match, yet you're budgeting to tightly you work out you need payday to arrive to fund a well-deserved trip to Bristol.

Imagine that. Because that is real for not just hundreds of Oldham Athletic supporters, but for hundreds of thousands of people across the UK. In fact, millions of people across the UK.

Don't compare your situation to others living in a depressed town like Oldham and dozens besides, you short-sighted, narrow-minded moron.

  6. I was reading a conversation between three or four Bristol City supporters. They were talking about the segregation between home and away supporters at Ashton Gate. Apparently it is a few hundred seats worth - probably the usual over-exaggerated gap left between two clubs who have 200 mile of land between them and no historical rivalry. They're were wondering if it would be reduced and a few extra tickets sent up to Oldham.

I won't hold my breath like. In fact, I wouldn't even have a quid on it happening...

  7. It's frustrating. We got ours earlier today but I feel for those who have missed out. A good number will have been waiting for payday. If we'd been allowed and accommodated for, I think we would have had 800 there on Saturday. Real shame for those who have missed out. I don't blame supporters for not rushing to Boundary Park.

I'd like to criticise Bristol City planning here but they're looking after their own supporters. We'd do the same. They have three times our regular attendances which is why we give so many tickets to the away sides. Those looking for revenge would be cutting of their noses to spite their faces.

Sales up until this week have been fair slow. I'd like to think City management would have allocated more if more Oldham Athletic supporters had showed an interest - there again it's Bristol City away. I haven't even bought a Rochdale ticket so why anyone would purchase a ticket so far in advance for an away fixture in the South West is beyond me.

A genuine pity but we'll be all bunched together. It should make for an electric atmosphere.

  8. we don't need special offers.

    Latics have tried them all.

Keep playing attractive football at home and more will come.

We have had 5 years with rubbish style football and poor results at home.

Spot on. It goes further than that, too. There's been little-to-no hope on the football front for years. The last promotion gained by either the main football and rugby league club in Oldham was over 20 years ago.

I'd love to see the supporters come back but I'm certainly not going to criticise those who fail to come running down Sheepfoot Lane on a Saturday afternoon. My aim is to tell those who have stopped attending matches about how well we're performing this season. If they take a few fixtures in I'll be happy, but I won't lose much sleep if they don't. I understand why a load stay away.

Attendances steadily decline. They also steadily improve. We can't expect miracles over the course of a few weeks.

  9. If we continue to replicate the performance from the match before we'll create chances and will probably score. It's up to Parkinson and his players to perform to our standards in order to cope and compete. If they don't, I think we'll win. As long as we continue to work tirelessly and our attitude is perfect we'll do well.

However, I won't be heading into any game expecting three points. We need to be realistic and/or retain a sense that we're the underdog.

I'd like to see Winchester come back into the side. We create chances without him - we showed that on Tuesday - but he can do that utterly unpredictable thing, which, if Bradford possess a relatively slow backline, will leave them all over the shop.

I'll be delighted with a victory of any sort. Ecstatic if we control, dominate and win comfortably.

  10. I bumped into a Latics supporter earlier this evening. A young lad in a Manchester City strip was stood next to his father who was getting some money from the ATM. We were talking about yesterday's game (I was describing, my mate was working last night) and we were laughing and talking excitedly about our result against Coventry. The young'un just stared. He looked about 10 year old, therefore hardly remembering, if not talking properly, the last time the town talked happily about Oldham Athletic.

    It felt brilliant.

  11. Two home games in a week probably hits some too. Surely a good crowd on Saturday though. The team deserve getting behind now.

It'll be 7,000 on Saturday. At least. In fairness, Coventry mustered slightly more than 200, which is below average. Plus we're only rumoured to be playing well. Before tonight we had four victories from 13. I know there have been some excellent draws earned on the road but it's the wins and the points which will have a lot turning up.

Anyway, thought we were excellent again tonight. Our handling of the ball pleased me - a few silly errors, mind. The thing I'm most proud about is the work ethic. All four goals came about because we harassed and harried Coventry. We won the ball and we countered. One of the hardest, if not the hardest, teams I've witnessed play in Oldham Athletic colours. And I mean that.

  12. We're going into this as favourites and that makes me nervous. However, if we play like we have done during the last six or seven games we'll be too strong for a confidence-sapped Coventry. I haven't noticed much optimism from their supporters.

We're heading into a key stage of the season. We have three home games out of the next four league fixtures. If we're serious about challenging - against all odds - this is a period where we can find ourselves in the top three or four should we claim, say, 10 points. Despite a fantastic start to the season, we've won four league games. A draw tonight would be a slight disappointment. I'd be delighted if we could win by more than a goal too. We've only done it once thus far.

I'd consider a victory tonight one of the best results of the season. It would show we're capable of handling pressure which is still a doubt in my mind considering Scunthorpe and Walsall.

    Good luck lads.

  13. I'd love if Shildon could scrape through. Away tie, of course. It's a little village in County Durham. Watched my lass's brother play there earlier this year. The bar is 6ft across.

A lot of Mackems drop in. Lots of donated memorabilia in the smallest of club houses.

  14. Thoroughly enjoyed tonight's game.

We dominated the entire match and they knocked in two goals (good strikes, in fairness) from their two main chances. We could have scored six or seven and considering it was the JPT I'm not going to be overly critical, but Johnson ought to be - for their own good.

  15. Excellent three points, but only because we were 2-1 down. We should never have been in that position at half-time. We will continue to struggle to break sides if we fail to force the issue and look to cause panic throughout the opposition defence. We did that in the second half. We moved so they moved. We turned them and they looked awful. We ran at them and they panicked. We need to keep doing that.

Early on in the second half Philliskirk wasn't moving into the space between their back line and midfield. We had a line of four players. Once we started to drop into space we were able to create chances and ultimately score the goals.

Useful three points considering next week's opponents.
