There's no way 5 or 6 players will be coming in without shipping a few out.

3 weeks to sign half a team....slightly easier than what we had to do last

    season I suppose!

Can see Mcglauglin being sacrificed now to raise the funds.

Hes one of the only players who has done anything this season. One of the only attacking minded players who has a go at running at opposition etc.

    Suicide to sell him IMO.

Started fairly poorly, grown in to the game, Dummigan is having a good game and Fawns has been busy, Banks put in a superb ball in for Mclaughlin for the goal which shows what he can do. Still not too keen on the tactics, a lot of hoofball in to Hollaway who is up front on his own, Davies is not a right sided player.

Good away tactics IMO. With a enforcer in CM we'd be a tough side to beat on the road.

McLaughlin was much better when switched to the right after Green went off and got a bit of a kicking from the Oxford players for it.

I think Holloway's very underated by a lot of Latics fans.  He had the ball lofted up to his head for 90 mins, despite the fact that Curtis Nelson, who was the best player on the pitch, won nigh on everything in the air.  It's no wonder he was frustrated.  He looked good on the rare occasions he received the ball at his feet.

I can only think that Sheridan insisted on the long ball stuff because he has no faith in his midfield players.  Credit where it's due, Banks made a decent tackle first half (to make up for losing the ball just before) and put in a lovely corner after about 30 mins.  Apart from that, he was shit.  Green contributed absolutely nothing.  If those two are regular starters this season, we're in for yet another relegation battle.  Oxford weren't world beaters but their midfield players, partcularly Payne, could pass intelligently to pull Latics players out of position.

I was disappointed with Obadeyi's cameo.  Seems to lack a football brain.  I saw Hunt shaking his head after Tope failed to make the overlap when he brought the ball forward.  Then Holloway ran to drag the defender away to allow Obadeyi the space to shoot and he left the ball for Holloway - by the time he eventually realised, he ended up rushing the shot and blasting it miles from goal.

Duffus, who should have come on earlier, looked promising.  Would like to see more of him.

    Pretty much bang on that.

  4. Our keeper looked awfully flappy on a couple crosses and didn't command his box very well.

As for Banks, I don't know what managers see in him. He's one of the softest players ive ever seen. Could forgive that if he was a great passer but he tries too many hollywood balls when a simple pass to feet would suffice.

As for the match, an excellent performance from McLaughin who sent over a stream of inviting crosses, of which only one was attacked by Holloway for the goal.

McLaughin looks very sharp and could well go on to higher things IMO.

The Curzon goal was from a corner kick, which should have been prevented then cleared.

Of the second string I thought Edmondson was good, but he needs to work on his timing when challenging fo headers, he has s

a habit if making himself smaller than he is by stooping. I'm sure the coaches will be aware of this and will work on it.

     Agree with BP on McLaughlin.

Didn't watch last night but saw enough glimpses of quality last season to see he's got plenty of talent. Think we will see his emergence this season and be fending off bids in Jan.

  6. Am I missing something here? Robinson knows Banks is not a tackler so he can hardly be accused of going missing....he is there to be what we laughingly call a 'playmaker', again a job he didn't hide from...it's just that he's not very good at it!!!

I think for Saturday, if he starts with a midfield 4, it should be McLaughlin, Fane, Croft and Flynn. I also think he'll play Erwin behind McKay but I would like to see Osei given a start at nr.10.

Oh, and give Winchester the job as bib monitor.

He's rubbish, simple. I just can't work out out what he offers, apart from the very occasional long range shot.

What makes it worse is that he's lazy and half hearted. :censored:s out of too many challenges. Shouldn't be near the team IMO.
