  1. Does anyone know where i can get hold some decent qualty photos of some of the players from the last few season abt 8x10. i know you used to be able to view some on the online shop on the official site and order them from there but i can't see the link for it anymore so i presume they have stopped doing it. I'm also after a picture of the squad from the season we won the old div 2 preferably one of them with the trophy. any help would be much appreciated, thanks

  2. The art of defending has died because you can hardly tackle anyone any more! You just catch someone after you have won the ball and a freekick is given against you, if it looks like you would have hurt the opposition player if you had have caught him then a freekick us given against you - even if you havent got anywhere near the guy! I personally think its a shame, timing a last ditch tackle to perfection is just as difficult as driblling past someone but it doesn't look as exciting when there showing the replays on sky so no-one really cares about it anymore

  3. Why do people think that the fans have a right to know everything that goes on within the club? Its up to TTA to decide what happens with the club and its up to them to decide where and what the new stadium will be like. As a club they let the fans know much much more about the goings on within the club than most other clubs, they dont have to tell us anything and the fact that they do is because we have a trust and a representative on the board. My dad was a trust director up until february and he put a lot of work into as im sure all the other directors do too but people do not see what goes on behind the scenes. As someone mentioned above no-one turned up in May when there was an open invitation for people to attend and the clubs cheif exec also made himself available yet nobody could be bothered going. I'm sure the club and/or trust will at some point ask for the fans feedback - and as they read this message board they already have some idea how the fans who use this message board feel about things - but they do not have ask for our feedback, the fact that they probably will shows that they respect the feelings of the clubs fans more than many other clubs do.

If people think they can help the trust or have better ideas than those who are already on the trust then why not contact them, im sure they would welcome the help and input.

  4. have to say well done to both, but i am absolutely amazed Neal is in the team - attacking wise and in midfield i think he is decent, defending wise though - which is his primary job - he is poor.

I'm never out to have a go at players, i just say it as i see it - i want people to play well including Neal - but defensively this season like Hazell(jan onwards) he has been very poor.

I was set next to a Barnsley scout v bristol rovers, he said they'd stopped watching taylor as he has little end product and i quote 'I cant believe people rave about Neal Eardley and how he is an international is beyond me'

Yes, come back next year Neal with a 100% committed attitude and effort and people including myself will back you. Improve your defending and aim crosses at players rather than just booting it in aimlessly without looking up as well and we will have a good player on our hands.

    over to you Neal...

Could our strikers maybe attack the ball when his crosses come into the box instead of just standing there waiting for the ball to land on their heads without having to move or would that be asking a bit too much?

  5. With all the injury problems such as he's had at the club in the last couple of seasons, most players would have been ousted long ago....The fact that he's still on the payroll should tell you something, he's obviously very well regarded by the coaching staff.

I reckon he could be very effective playing off a big striker!

We probably haven't seen the best of him and he could turn out to be a real gem given a good run in the side.... however, next season will be his last here if he can't remain fit.

I've always liked Wolfy and he would play a lot better when playing off a big striker (I think he and Chris Porter would have been an excellent partnership) The only problem is his injury record, if he can manage to stay fit he does have something to bring to team and he will only get better, his lack of football due to injuries have slowed down his development, if gets a few decent runs in the team in the next couple of years he may finally fulfill his potential

  6. i would rather he passed inside to gregan or alott in the middle than lump it, as shez said, 'take care of the ball' i.e keep posession at the very least.

But Allott doesn't make himself available for the ball from him, that is where we really miss Wellens, he was always there demanding the ball from people and if we want to play nice passing football then that is what we need from at least one of central midfielders

  7.

Lee Hughes (presuming he's off) - dislike

    Chris Porter - like

Chris Killen - good player just didnt play enough for us

    Ritchie Wellens - like

    Neil Kilkenny - indifferent

    Fitz Hall - like

    Clyde Wijnhard - like

Matty Appleby - never liked him but only cos he was brought in a replacement for Dux!

    Paul Murray - like

    Wayne Andrews - like

    Jermaine Johnsson - like

    Christian Colusso - like

  8. Although this season may not have been his best (though that could be said of the whole squad!) he's been a great player for us. As others have said it would have been nice for him to have one more game and get his round of applause. Wouldnt be surprised if were playing against him next season

  9. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Wolfy with an extended run and the right partner will score goals at this level. Will he get that chance - i'm not so sure, but lets face it anything is better than the half-arsed nay always on his arse Alessandra.

A big lump with Wolfy will work imo, unfortunately the few chances he has had has seen him paired with players of the standard of Warne or Lewi if he'd had the chance to play week in week out with Porter, Beckett, Hughes et al i'm sure he would have bagged a lot more than Lewi has. I'm still of the opinion (probably in the minority) but Wolfy is the most natural finisher at the club.

    Cue abuse...

I completely agree, i've always rated Wolfy, the only problem with him is his injury record. There is no doubting his ability - and he will only get better if he gets a run in the team. I know Joe Royle rates him and if Royle stays then i expect Wolfy will do as well. His movement in and around the box is fantastic. If we had managed to keep hold of Porter then the two of them together would have been a quality front pairing. I've also been told that his attitude in training is excellent as well

  10. He is a good player who has been very very unlucky with injuries, if he can stay fit and get a run playing first team football, not just 10 minutes here and there then he would continue to develop into a very good striker. I know a lot of people at the club rate him very highly and when my dad was in the board room for a game last season (or maybe even the season before) when Wolfenden playing he said Joe Royle had very good things to say about him. That said he needs to stay fit, if he manages to and gets the chance then i think he will do well, if not i hope he gets the chance elsewhere because he does have the potential to be decent player

  11. ............Fleming

    .......Hazell Gregan Stam

    ...........Allott ...Maher

    Smalley... Liddell..... Taylor

    .........Hughes Windass

Subs; Eardley, Golbourne, Whitaker, Alessandra, Eaves

    Or if 442

    .....................Fleming

    Eardley .Greagan Stam Golbourne

    Lids...... Allott...... Maher..... Taylor

    ............Windass Smalley

Subs: Hazell, Lee, Hughes, Alessandra, Whitaker

  12. Same old same old after every away deafeat, he says he is going to do this and that but never actually does it, davies last night would of hurt them badly with his pace. but no old time liddell came on instead and did f**k all aswell.

he needs to follow up on what he says other wise it will be yet ANOTHER season in league 1.

I agree Davies should have been on the bench but to be fair to Lids when they did manage to get the ball to him he did ok with it. The problem last night was the central midfield getting over run yet again

  13. Im going to applaud him if he plays against us at BP as he was a class striker and the only 20 plus league goal scorer I have witnessed in my time as a Latics supporter.

We have had a lot of :censored: (real real :censored:) strikers play for us since our fall from grace with Porter being one of the very few exceptions. It was a pleasure to see him score a lot of those 20 goals and get us into the play offs.

    I would applaud him too.

He's a good player who did what was best for himself and went to play at a higher level, it might not be the most exciting league in the world but he had the opportunity to play in europe and play in 4 huge games a season against Celtic and Rangers and managed to score against them both i think.

He played well for us whilst he was here - his first season wasn't fantastic but he was a good young player with bags of potential who was better in his first season here than most of our strikers have been since we dropped to this division. His 2nd season he played through injury for part of the season and still managed to score over 20, had he been injury free all season he probably would have got more.

You have to remember that whilst he lost the club money by going to Scotland we also let didnt offer Paul Warne a contract after earlier telling him he would definately get one, loyalty works both ways

  14. so you would rather have liddell on the pitch just in case we get a penalty....he doesnt take corners anymore as he cant get it over the first man..he cant pass a player down the wing skin him and cross it in anymore....

so just in case we get a penny he should be there instead of allessandra or smalley....sorry...but we now have 2 proven goal scorers who need to be fed the ball,we need pace out wide to get the balls into them,im sorry but liddell just doesnt do that anymore...its always a 3 yard side or pass back these days

you cant afford to be sentimental when your going for promotion...

Alessandra and Smalley may be quicker than Lids but they certainly cant feed the strikers better than him. The problem Lids has is since Wellens left we haven't had anyone who can get the ball out to him whilst he's in space, its normally passed from taylor to allott to eardley then to Lids and by that time the defenders have moved over and as you have said Lids can't run past them anymore, if Maher is going to get a run in the team now then perhaps that might change.

I do like Smalley (though personally i see his future playing through the middle but he needs to toughen up) but with Taylor on the left whos crosses arent the best we need someone on the right who can put the ball in the box consistantly and Smalley cant do that.

  15. From the Huddersfield site DATM:-

If points were awarded for vocal backing, oldham would have had all 3. Superb noise all afternoon. Days like today just make you realise How much we need our own end. At times there was silence. I sit in direct golf lower and it was woeful in there today. The players did their bit but i thought the support was shocking today. Well done the oldham fans. Thats How to get behind a team

I thought our support was great today except for the racist chants that were being sung for most of the game round where i was sat (bottom right corner) hopefully it was only in that small area and not all over the stand. Other than that was great support, just a shame we couldnt get all 3 points

  16. Add Crossley - GK Coach ... to your list

Will have a bigger coaching squad than players

TBH asked this question early season , What exactly is Dux doing these days ?

He is now just a general coach and takes charge of the few reserve games we have. From what i hear he is a pretty good coach with younger players.

  17. I think a lot people overrate our current team. When you compare it to the team that Sheridan took over is it any better? I dont think it is. We do have a bigger squad though which is a positive but in order to get the bigger squad we have to save money by not entering into the reserve league which is doing the squad players no good at all, O'Grady has gone out on loan to get some match time but has been a sub in most games i think. The next few months are very important for both the players and the management, they need to turn things around, i'm not bothered if they dont play fantastic football week in week out that is not going happen in league one but there is no fight in the team and no consistancy throughout the team. Although we have played well in parts we havent had a run of games where we have played well consistantly throughout. The fans also need to stop moaning and shouting abuse at the players as soon as they make a mistake, especially the young players, all the players need the support from the crowd not just Hughes, Taylor and whoever else the current favourites are. The players and coaching staff need to get together and sort out whatever problems there are and it seems there are definately problems somewhere within the club, Gregan apparently has problems in his personal life, fine give him time away from the starting 11 if he needs it to get himself together because he is a big player for us and we need him if we are going to get anywhere near promotion this year. As for Davies if we are going to let him go (i dont think we should) we need to replace him with a pacey striker although i think smalley could do that job in the future he isn't the answer at the moment if we are aiming for promotion. Looking at our match day squad it is strong enough to get into the playoffs and that is the minimum expectations set out by the club this season. If we dont get promoted this season Shez and co could well be looking for a new job in the summer and that will leave us back to square one with a new manager coming in and wanting to create his own squad.

  18. Lewi's played a damn site more too..... Deano tbh has been unlucky, as he had a decent pre-season and was flying at the end of the last campaign and I have been an advocate of him to replace Lidds on the right, as for Deano up front? Not sure tbh too much of a softarse imo.

I like Smalley but i think his future lies playing through the middle (and no not just because lids plays on the right for us at the moment!) but your right he does need to toughen up for him to be effective there

  19. Give him a run to prove it. He ain't gunna go back there and do it instantly...but he'll beat a man and get that cross in unlike on the left where he cuts inside. Jones and Taylor on left and right would see the first time we've had proper out and out wingers for a long time IMO. Or are we really discussing a certain player that would therefore be dropped if Taylor went to RW?

I have no problem if Lids gets dropped but only when we have a better player in his place. Taylor will beat his man but its the crossing bit, he just cant do it consistantly whether its with his left or right foot, and you need at least one winger who will put decent balls into the box - im not saying lids does it every single time but there is no-one at the club better than him at doing that at the minute.
