basically admitted to having a difference of opinion with dickov regarding the coaching staff, but said that any future appointments will be down to dickovs decision only. described him as a fiery scot lol but also said their relationship with each other is very honest
-
did anyone hear simon corney on 5 live tonight. thought he was very honest when asked about his relationship with dickov..

Just reading all the stuff about portsmouth. Reminds me of the time when I went there on one of my very first away games. I was 17, got horrendously lost in the middle of the city centre, and only just made it for the start of the second half. Think it was warhursts debut that game. In them days there were no sat navs or internet or anything. Happy days.
Remember getting lost trying to find watford too.

Eeeh by gum.. whatever happened to jim steele. He was the first real striker I remember as a kid

Been reading his books lately it struck me there isn't any colour photographs anywhere. To be honest I've been reading them for years and it would be nice if he or anyone else could update them with some colour pics. Makes a change from black and white pics.
Anyone know what he is doing these days. Just curious

Interesting to note fans views at end of this sites section on Chesterfield. Sounds like a decent ground but hopefully the after match experience will be better now!
I've been to their ground a couple of times as a neutral as its only 10 mins from where i live. Its a nice ground with good facilities

Pleased to see that Richard was recognised in the BBC SPOTY obituary section tonight alongside the likes of Gary Speed,Basil D'Oliveira, Socrates, Joe Frazier and so many others. Very tragic for a such a young man and his family.
just reading about the inquest for richard butcher on the bbc website, just reminds me of the time i was truly ashamed to be an oldham fan at barnsley when in my eyes he took an awful lot of unwarranted abuse that day. RIP richard

Excluding Cup finals and semi-finals, what's the largest away following we've ever taken? The largest I've known was probably at Everton, but I remember someone mentioning about taking 7000 to Barnsley once
yeah i was there september 1990, marshall 79th minute GET IN.........

has anyone sussed out what it was given for yet?
pleased with the way we played today, dissapointed with the result ( i just new the game would change as soon as mvoto went off )
no as far as i can see it was given for nothing, and as for megson and his smug face afterwards.. what a hypocrite.
-
Sam, you seem like a nice reasonable bloke to me. I've read your posts these last few days and its a pleasure to read messages of a sensible nature.
Anyway hope you and the rest of the wednesdayites have a good day today at BP, apart from the result of course. Just about to set off from sheffield myself for the game. Motorway i think..

god he was only 42.. doesnt he hold the record for most premiership appearances

excellent blog there, i agree with everything you say. Lord knows the club and the town need a boost.

Well pleased with that tonight, thought we eased off a bit after we got the first but stepped it up again towards the end of the first-half and probably should have gone in at least 2-0 up. Another good start to the half could have seen us get the all important second goal, instead we went to sleep and their lad scores a cracker. However, it was nice to see us go for the jugular, Adeyemi's screamer deserved a goal but the big man was on hand to bury the rebound. After that there was only going to be one winner and Scapuzzi capped a superb display with a fine third.
Gerrard - One great save in the first half, after that very little to do and certainly no chance with the goal
Lee - Touch let him down when in good positions on a number of occasions but decent enough both in defence and attack tonight
M'Voto - Never really tested, from a lightweight Crewe attack although the way the defence collectively switched off for the goal was a worry
Diamond - Similar to M'Voto and i'm sure Zola and Kee will give us much more to think about come Saturday
Black - a proper left-back, thought he had a good game and deserves his place back in there imo
Simpson - At the heart of everything good we did, could and should have had a hat-trick. Should have been man of the match
Furman - worked hard, passed well once he realised he didn't need to sit so deep
Adeyemi - Thought he was poor for the first half hour than came to the fore, was particularly effective in winning the ball back with his gangly tackling. Best game i've seen him have (apart from Dongs game)
Taylor - That's more like it Chris, a constant thorn in Crewe's side, rarely gave it away and worked harder than i've seen him for a while
Kuqi - I thought we'd pilled off a (Kuqi) coup when we signed him but never in my wildest dreams did I think he would score 10 in his first 14, and two real poachers efforts tonight.
Scapuzzi - Looks a helluva prospect, rarely wastes the ball a hand in the first and scored a cracking third. His probing passes along with Simpson ensured we were a threat all night. He's the reason Simpson doesn't get my MOM award. He does can't wait to see more of him on Saturday.
All in all a good night's work and although i'm in no doubt that Burton will be a much tougher game, there's now a chance to build some momentum and our strikers to fill their boots against more League Two opposition. I just hope Bradford nick the win at Sheff U because i'd fancy us against anybody else!
bradford are through after winning 6-5 on pens

York City v Latics 1974 video highlights;
If you were there relive the superb Maurice Whittle free kick, if you weren't enjoy football as it was in the olden days.
thanks for posting this mate. I was only 3 when this was played so to young to remember it. I've heard and read so much about the players that day, hicks, robins etc.. and as for that free kick from whittle, what a beauty.
Cheers, Mike

Decided i'm gonna have a day out at exeter on the 1st Oct as its a ground i've never been to. Just enquired about train prices sheffield to exeter... cheapest was £114 return. WTF... i thought we were trying to encourage more people on to public transport.
I know its not strictly football related but i thought i'd have a rant. Its the car for me and a pint when i come back. (Hopefully to celebrate a kuqi hat trick)
By the way whats their ground like for anyone who's ever been
-
It ain't happening deal with it.
I am dealing with it.. doesnt mean to say we cant talk about it eh. Each to their own i suppose though
