  1. This just needs to be resolved one way or another and communicated to everyone.

when it is, his signing by Carlisle will porabably be announced shortly afterwards , then we can move on to the next problem that needs to be solved before Saturday’s first game of the season

gerrard can then get back on Twitter and say what he has to say, none of which will be surprising

The same Brian Talbot? He's been a director or somesuch at a club in Malta for a number of years as I recall. Didn't know he was back in England.

    From Wikipedia

In February 2011, he joined English Premier League club Fulham as European scout. He was promoted to chief scout and assistant director of football operations in February 2017

I’m pretty sure Ritchie was £55K

Set by transfer tribunal I think

remember  going back to Leeds in the league cup a few months later, Stitch scoring, and us all singing ‘thank you very much for Andy Ritchie ‘

    happy days

Interesting article. Some stuff I didn't know in there. I didn't know he finished playing at just 27, and I didn't know he missed much of the pinch me seasons.

Also didn't know he had such a close working relationship with Steve Eyre. That could bear fruit at some point. Where is he these days apart from gmr?

Steve Eyre is first team coach at Fleetwood

Actually thought he should have done better for both goals against Forest. But other than that looked pretty solid and commanding, and apparently had a good game in mid-week, so trust Rhodes' judgement.

Reckon he'll be less entertaining than Placide, though...

If less interesting means fewer goals conceded then that’s a good thing

Well I can’t argue with that. However, I can barely muster a fk to watch England most of the time, yet my little division 4 football club still gives me butterflies when I go to a game. England are like the posh girl at work that everyone fancies, but Latics are my wife that I love no matter what.

    That is a great analogy

Much better than his brother MC but he was caught out of position a few times in his early games. Has the makings of a good pro when he inevitably learns and if supporters cut him the slack his youth warrants.

Not quite as good as his sister Lily , who’s living in Norway

I hope he does. He’s pretty good. Would be a quality full back in League Two.

I know now the temptation is there to bin off some of the underperformers, but I think the likes of Davies, Moimbe, Fane, Dummigan and even Gerrard and Clarke would be favourable players in League Two. The option of replacing them with bog standard League Two players is a mistake I fear we shouldn’t make.

It’s his attitude that gets me

i know he’s not alone , but he couldn’t care less and whilst there many other reasons, getting sent off stupidly v Gillingham was the difference between staying up and  being relegated

it’s not all about ability you’ve got to have it up top too

I'd lead towards the Morecambe statement rather than the FGR.

I get it's a new ground, and there may well be optimism, but almost 1000 there is some going as its a trek.

Forest Green also have 3 ex Latics players

    Joseph Mills

    rueben Reid and

    gavin gunning

Bowie was about 6'2" and an excellent passer of the ball. He always looked lazy but was very deceptive when running and covered the ground quicker than you thought. I don't recall him running very far at a time, though. A very good midfielder.

I’ve seen Jim Bowie in a local cafe on Saturdays quite regularly

one day i should say hello  to him

he looks in his sixties , and still slim ,  but is probably quite a bit older

what a a good player he was

? jim bow, Jim bow, Jim Bowie, Jim Bowie , Jim Bowie , ?

I always thought the next manager would be foreign. Him sounding out Clarke yesterday was a bit of a surprise. Scholes wanted it when Wellens got the job so is an option, but if he has anything about him, he will keep his distance after seeing the way the club has been run recently. I wouldn't even rule out Lemsagam actually doing it himself...

    ?

we’re at a very low point at the moment

what happens in the next week at Latics is so important with hopefully:

the appointment of a new manager , who the heck as an idea who this will be?  but the choice should give us an insight , good or bad, into the thoughts of AL

improved communication from someone with authority in the club

Rallying of the supporters and players

a statement of the short and medium term plans on and off the field from AL
