  1. What a day out!

Almost missed the start due to the ticket office running out of tickets!

First half started really well, and O'Neill looks a really good player. Taylor was OK but to be honest wasn't really in the game that much.

We bossed possession for the first 25 minutes, but Chesterfield came back into it and probably had the best chance of the half that was "air kicked".

Felt pretty confident that a decent HT team talk and attacking our supporters we would have a good second half.

Then the news that Gerrard had been send off came - his attitude to the referee when he was booked initially was v.poor. Disrespected the official, told him to f*** off if my lip reading was correct.

So not sure what he did in the tunnel, but doubt the referee would have needed much encouragement.

Fearing the worst, the second half went as expected. We were barely in the game, dropping deep and some time wasting (Ripley booked etc) but the crowd....wow!

I first looked at the time at about 65 minutes and we'd been chanting Sheridans blue and white army for a bit, and then from that moment onwards we never stopped singing. The noise was immense!!

And whilst never being really in the game, I don't recall Ripley being genuinely tested. And then as the clock ticked to 90 we get a corner.....

I can imagine what the Spireites felt - we've all been there, dominated 10 men, and then they go and score a late winner from a set piece.

The corner was cleared but the ball back in from O'Neill was a peach and Clarke's header was a bullet.

    Pandamoniam ensues.

Suspect we will get a fine etc for the fans on the pitch, but given the atmosphere we created, it felt that we'd earned that 3 points more than the team did.

Not pretty, but a massive win. I don't recall a massive improvement in performances and football last year under Shez, but we started grinding out the points.

9 from 5 so far this time around. Keep it up!

    Happy days! ?

  2. 5 a side has different rules different nets a different size pitch and different numbers height and speed don't come into it as much it's alot more about your first touch and the ability to use the ball in tight areas which was joses great strength.

It was Lee Johnson who described him as a £20 million pound 5 a side player.

    Mine would be

    Lee Grant

    Nick Henry

    Barrett

    Wellens

    Eyres

    Baxter

    Ritchie

    Fair do's.

Agree about type of player/the game/first touch.

However Is Baxter better than his similar type- shez, tricky, Henry, wellens. Not for me.

Baxter stood out in league one. The above stood out in higher leagues.

  3. These are important things.

In terms of 5-6 a side Jose Baxter would get in any team infact he would be the best 5 a side player we've had in the last 25 years easy

    Really???

    If he's THAT good. .

Why has never touched the prem? Or even the championship.

I'd take any number of our premiership midfielders over Baxter any day of the week. 5 a side or otherwise.

  4. Nobody should having a go at the fans who went along to hear what Corney had to say. If you take a step back though you can see spin beneath the whole thing since The Chairman called fans out through Robbo being sacked to the absurdity of the recent statement

    Spot on.

It's got nothing to do with the fans that went. You went because you care. Fair play, all of you.

However, I'll ask again, why didn't Corney take NNN offer to rearrange the meeting, when he knew he was so busy? SC OFFERED to film it, then on the day, the video guy was busy. Why? Because it was match day- fair enough. But SC knew it was match day, and he'd be busy, So why didn't he re-arrange it?????

My issue isn't what was said. It's what was not said or given chance to be said. SC has very clearly given info that a lot fans of a lot clubs would applaud- again fair enough. But where is the balance? The notes read as an overview of everything Corney wants to say, what about what the guys in there really want to ask him? It works both ways.

To my mind, it was offered as a clear the air meeting, which was to be filmed for openness and transparency. A chance for us to all move forward.

However, because of the lack of filming, and a lack of balance being afforded to people asking the questions, it feels like spin. You can't tell people only the truths you want them them to know, and not expect people to be cynical.

  5.

Me too if I am honest, BigDog - my gut instinct said it was not the correct way to proceed but I bowed to the majority of the fans at the pre-meet. If I hadn't it may have come across as me being dictatorial. That's no criticism whatsoever of anyone or of the decision - and the meeting with the club's reps was very good - but the next one should have specific questions and answers in my opinion.

There in lies the problem. It's a very hard balancing act. How do you ask the difficult questions without alienating SC.

However, through no fault of yours or the others it feels very diluted to what was originally offered/planned.

Re- filming; I said before, why didn't he take your offer to rearrange When he was less busy? Maybe at a time when the window had closed, and he wasn't entertaining potential new investors.

It just feels like it was a platform for SC to put out the information he wants- leaving people thinking l

  6. The problem is many supporters approach this topic and any associated topic from a fixed standpoint and prejudiced view. There can be no good and no benefit attributable to anything that is ever done by the current regime. We do something positive or achieve something "nothing to do with the owners", do something bad or perform poorly or someone faild and it is always the "owners fault". That is an unreasonable approach to any discussion, renders is pointless

    and frustrating.

But rightly or wrongly there are reasons people have prejudged opinions. They gave been formed over a very long period of time. In hindsight, the meeting was never going to drastically shift those opinions. (Think I was a bit naive expecting it to.) IMO the meeting opened my eyes to one or two aspects- and I certainly appreciate everyone's time. However there is an awful lot I disagree with. Is me saying what I disagree with, going to change anything after all these years? Nope. Sorry to say, but in the end, it all feels a bit pointless.

  7. The tweet is an interesting one - is that a case of saying anything to try and respond to the statement OR is there genuinely something else in the pipeline?

It is not uncommon for journalists to tip off individuals or organisations that they have a "big story" and give them a chance to comment. This can de done days, or even weeks, before the media breaks the story.

[Rumour/Speculation alert] The rather petty statement from the club yesterday is fuelled not by the speculation about the investors, but by the knowledge that there is a "damaging" story about Brass Bank and the financial structure of the club out there and will likely be released soon.

Frustrated / annoyed, the club vent about the current story and hope that it gives them examples and ammunition to be used to rubbish the next story.

Mmm, never thought of it like that. .

  8. Whilst it was still good of Corney to meet the fans, I can't help but feel he has wriggled out of the filming, or like others have said even an audio of the conversation.

How long has this meeting been penciled, three/four weeks? Why not take one of NNN offers to rearrange if he's to busy.

In the time it's taken to arrange it all, is putting a camera up to much to sort? Or at very least letting one of the fans record it on their phone?

  9. I neither specified "a few" goals/wins or :censored:ing loads of them - any particular reason you're pretending i said "a few"?

Any particular reason your being a nob?

Did I directly quote you? Did I say Harry said a few?

You and others jumping over all people as soon they offer a different view.

  10. Nah I'm not missing the point.

Long term vision blah blah just excuses. Winning matches and a buzz around the place gets people back. Hopefully a good crowd and result will kickstart the back end of the season!

You and Harry are both missing the point.

How many times does the club offer something like this, things start to look up on and off the pitch, then they proceed to mess it up; sometimes within months.

Someone comes back after posh, sees a few games, starts getting the buzz again, then the club don't show enough ambition or press self destruct after the initial rescue act- which they created - to KEEP them coming back.

It's a great gesture by the club, no doubt. I hope it leads on to bigger and better things.

But if you think a great gesture and a few goals/wins will be bring people back regularly (which is what we really want) then your either very naive or deluded.
