  1.

Great incentive... I really hate knocking the club in their efforts however I think something like this needs to be part of a bigger plan to really entice stay aways back.

Most that only attend a few games like myself are seeking longer term visions for the club rather than a cheap free game here and there.

Hopefully Sheridan will produce the goods and it will encourage a few lapsed fans to return.[/quote

    Spot on.

Fair play to the club, but it has got to part of a real plan over the longer term to improve results on the pitch.

Personally I just want a bit of hope, even a tiny bit, that we might do something. We sometimes get it- shez last year, LJ for a period, an as soon as we start feeling a bit of a buzz, we seem through a number factors to always let it slip. Hence creating the apathy.

Really hope the whole club can build now and get its act together. . . Think I've said that before.

  2. Why did he build a stand when we are and where loss making? He must of known it would take years and years to recoup that outlay. Conversely if he built it to make us a better proposition to sell, he must of known the football side had to be in some sort of stability/sign of promise to sell it. Surely they go hand in hand?

I can't get my head around the fact, that if your in for 10/15 mill over ten years, why on earth do you add 6 mill on top of that? They might be a lot of things, but their not stupid. Why didn't they cut their losses 3/4 years ago, with money back from the houses and the dialysis unit, surely they'll end up taking a bigger hit now, next year, or whenever they sell.

    What am I missing?

  3. I'm not sceptical of Mike Keegan, but urging caution as to blindly accepting he is all knowing.

He has a decent track record, enough to think he has into, but his record alike anyones is not 100%.

At the end of the day, he knows one side of the story, what someone has told him.

Like many situations, it can be interpreted differently.

Just cautious, not blindly accepting he is the beacon of truth.

If it was a serious bid, it would have got past talking to Simon Corney and then going to a Daily Mail journo. We simply don't know why it stalled.

It is a matter of record that TTA don't want £24m but are up for sale at a negotiated price but prepare to sit out and pass on silly offers.

    Fair enough.

Equally though, I'm not blindly accepting anything. That would be incredibly naive.

Nor do I think he's a beacon of truth. I don't think he himself was claiming or wanting to across like that.

I am willing to be open minded to the possibility that there maybe some truth to what he intimates.

    That's all.

  4. Mike Keegan is a fine journalist.

Of course, he will know things he can't say on radio.

That can be for many reasons. And by alluding to what he knows, or sailing as close to the wind as he can, he is doing us supporters a good service.

If he speaks out more bluntly he runs the risk of getting himself and others sued. But that doesn't mean what he knows isn't true.

    My thoughts exactly.

  5. That is where I have an issue. Hardly any are getting past first base, and not looking closely, they give up at the first hurdle.

There isn't journalist in the land that doesn't allude to knowing more when they don't necessarily. That's not to say he might not have more info.

A scenario where a prospective buyer phones a journo, the buyer would have a vested interest to put a spin on it.

And why go to a jornalist 5 mins after trying to buy somewhere. Because they want to create a clamour for their bid, and put pressure on the owner to reduce their price.

Mike Newton did the same, to us, and then the repeated the same modus operandi at Port Vale. He totally pushed his bid via the media.

None have offered proof of funds, in my view.

You come across sceptical of Mike's information?

Why would he risk any good links with the club, just to come across 'in the know.'

He knows he's on radio, so either he's feeing his own ego by pretending he knows than he does.

Or he's trying to show some tact, in 'alluding' to deeper problems- without blatantly ruining his relationship with the club.

    I'm going with the latter.

We are constantly told how hard it is to find investment, and yet comments in this interview directly contradicts that. There are people who are at least interested. Why would you offer proof of funds if you can't get past first base on price? Or what's even included in the deal?

  6.

It's Catch 22 - people are staying away for various reasons, most of which are linked directly or indirectly to Corney & Co's poor running of the club.

They (and the majority of us, within reason) would like Corney to sell.

But the fewer fans we get the harder it is to sell and the harder it is for SC to do a better job of running it (whether he's capable or not).

I think people underestimate how much :censored: TTA would be willing to put up with to ride out however many years it takes to cash in on something they, rightly or wrongly, allegedly think they can get £24m for.

Or are they sitting on it until we have another spike in property and land prices - which we will - at which point they hope to get even more than the alleged £24m?

We simply just want to watch a football team that scores a few goal & gives us a glimmer of hope of getting promoted.

But you've got to look at it from their side too - they're playing the long game waiting to, at worst, cut their losses or, at best, somehow still come out of this shambles with a profit. As is their right.

For that reason I don't think he'll ever let things get too bad (i.e relegation) but, given the perceived general ineptitude of everybody involved in running the club he'll eventually :censored: that up too.

I don't think we'll ever get what we want from this kind of protest group but, done well, applying a bit of respectful pressure can't do any harm.

    Spot on.

The only quick solution would be if Corney & co decided to take a considerable hit. Which ain't gonna happen.

Said it so many times now-

    Business first.

    Football second.

As you say, that's is their right. However we can see what it's doing to the club.

Really hard to see a positive way forward for all concerned.

  7. Strange game.

It's a while since I've seen us as poor and good in the same 90 minutes. First 20/25 we were really poor, couldn't pick a pass, lack of desire, lack of tempo. Then gradually we found our feet. Last 15 of first half they looked like a different team. Second half we started bright, good finish from McKay, then we dropped off and the last 15/20 we were hanging on a bit.

Why doesn't dummingham overlap McLaughlin more?? Think they could have a real tidy partnership down right this season. Both played well.

    How did Erwin miss?

    Flynn had a good game.

Banks is frustrating. Played at least 3 sublime passes today, then the next time you see him he can't pick a pass ten yards away. He burst onto the edge of their box at least 3 times, and then meekly gave it away or just ran out of ideas. He does the difficult well, if he could add the simple things to his game, I think he could be the creative midfielder we've been looking for.

We seem very fragile. They lack real belief indivdually and collectively to me. (Not all the players fault) If things are going ok, they look quite decent in spells. But if we go a goal down, or there up against it we look very poor, very quickly.

Hopefully a few more wins and that confidence will come.

    Doncaster were awful.

  8. To those who can't see it yet.

In the last 7/8 seasons why have we had various managers, using between 150/200 players and always jus finished above relegation?

Why under all these mangers and players do the results stay largely the same?

Why are crowds dropping like a stone?

The one person who links all this Corney. An before anyone says it. Its nothing to with blaming Corney for today's result, file today's result wIth the rest of the utter dross home defeats. Our problems run so much deeper. I used to think, but at least he backs his mangers. Well, why do results or the football NEVER change with all this backing???

If you don't want to run a football club anymore. Fine. But to me you can't use the football club as a side issue to making money around the football club. It's unethical, and wrong IMO (Yeah yeah. Get in the real world.) They won't sell it, because on the business side there's money to be made. Anyone who doubts that needs to ask why a skint 3rd division club found 6 mill plus to build a stand.

The football has been secondary for a long long time. But he's cute enough to invest just enough to keep revenues as high as poss. (Not because he desperately cares about us finishing 17th) Again.

We need investment. But on his terms. Again business first. Football second. People say, but that's his right. Yeah it is. But why the :censored: did he invest in the first place then?? Loads of land all over this country they could of developed. Without getting anywhere near a community football club.

In the end we can talk and talk about managers and players. But if you keep cutting back, we're going one way. It wouldn't surprise me if we were in league two and Corney said they were going to build a new main stand.

    Business first.

    Football second.

  9. Let's have it right. We are :censored:. I don't mean just today. I mean the last 7/8 years. Reading the posts on here is like Groundhog Day.

    We could come good.

    Give them time.

    We can't score.

Why are we playing without two wingers.

    We've no money

    At least we're good defensively.

    0-1 oppo

We've got a bottom six budget.

    WHY IS THE CROWD DECREASING???

    We could be tranmere.

    Who's this new guy?

    Can we sack him yet?

    There's no atmosphere.

    17th.

    Undisclosed.

It's not an exaggeration to say the club is on life support. It gets the odd body shock to get it going for 5 minutes. Then just slides back into the abyss.

It should be no surprise were dire.
