  1. Our bargaining chips are the council's conscience it seems. Should the council's next response be an equally gruff statement I fear for the future of our club.

Jamie - look up the definition of bargaining mate.......I wouldn't even credit them with that; it's gonna be a right flippin' kerfuffle!

  2. the way i see it is that they expected to have started building failsworth or at least planning to start building before the start of next season so the extra running cost of BP for a season or two more was a resonable expense but to just keep throwing money at it without anything lined up or any imediate hope of finding somewere new is too much money

Yeah true; basically it also obliges the continued commitment from TTA (or now SC) to progress via short term measures.

By the way thread author - your title should be why do we have to move; not after. I know it's pedantic but it bugs me. It's lazy sloppy English; a bit like like Dale Stephens on a bad day! No more; no less - just an example of could do better!

  3. A lot of predictable over reaction just as their was following Tuesday's win, when people were making Morais King of Oldham. I think he was MOM today and that their coach did his homework a bit on us. A few had average days, no more, no less and I hate to see words like garbage applied to hard working young lads. We are a developing team, have some patience FFS!

  4. never in doubt...

now can i suggest everyone feeling down depressed n fed up,shuffle on down to bp and sing there hearts out for the lads....show everyone we still care even if the council doesnt....vent ya spleen and come back hoarse....

Never in doubt? Is it not pissing down at BP? seriously it is up here!!

  5. we are all frustrated at the last couple of days events but the 1 thing we MUST not do is let any negativity into bp. When the match is on we must put 100% into supporting the team and no anti-council chants while the players are out

Any other instructions on what I can and cannot do then, once I've paid my £20?

  6. That would be known as "going out in a blaze of glory".

Actually the thought just occurred to me. Losing against QPR eight or so years ago now was the most gutted I've ever felt as a fan. A defeat at Old Trafford next May would surely eclipse that by some distance.

Ooooh, dunno about that mate - I was really trully 100% gutted not so long ago when they ran out of pies well before half time, and indeed all hot food!!

  7. Exactly.

It's also worth noting that we are talking 20% of the Richards fee, which if he goes for £20 million means we get £4 million as a 1 off fee. However promotion this year will be worth between an extra £4 and £5 million next season with £4 million of that coming from increased TV income alone.

Promotion and Richards going is mind boggling for a club like us.

Calm down H! If ever I've seen a better example of two in the bush I can't remember it!

  8. Both valid points, it depends on how much it will cost for us to put a new stand up and how much it will make, including the reduction in policing costs as the away fans will be in a seperate stand to the home ones.

If we go up and manage to stay up for another season(s) then putting up a new Gene Kelly stand might pay for itself. Especially if we get a good cup game- more likely than this season because of our automatic 3rd round status.

Plus, if its up it might come in handy in at this level depending on who else is here.

I think the club will have looked at it previously, if they haven't then perhaps they should have done. Doing so will give them an idea of how much it will cost (including the extras required) and how much they might make out of it. I think you are right, if we have the ability to exceed our current capacity twice then perhaps it isn't worth it.

One option might be to make the Chaddy the away end, but surely the likes of Diego wouldn't put themselves before the club. As perhaps the problem isn't fitting in enough away fans (as I was thinking) its making sure all the home fans can fit in if we give the away team the whole of the RRE- the coppers may like that too since the Chaddy doesn't have a bar.

Yep agree, especially about away fans in the Chaddy - good points well put.
