Absolute balderdash. Moving home fans to the RRE will not change the clubs fortunes on or off the pitch. It will not make the fans happier, and would only serve to piss more fans off that have already been pissed off. Whilst Oldham Athletic play at Boundary Park, that end of Boundary Park should be reserved for home fans (whatever guise it is in).
Latics home end is the Chaddy End. It's tradition, and tradition is pretty much the only reason any club in the lower leagues survive.
I appreciate your argument but you'll find that you're in a continually reducing minority Dave.

I've not read anywhere that Blitz wants his money back. TTA came to Latics to make a dream come true and own a football club, not to make a profit. They knew what they were getting into, loosing money goes with the territory.
TTA have had the experience and "enjoyment" of owning a club, I don't see why a new investor should repay TTA for what they have spent.
I'm hoping your tongue is firmly in your cheek!

Who in their right mind would name a mascot after the end where they put away fans?
Simply, enough of our support has been alienated by knocking down the lookers (when there was no need for it) and then moving the ones who sit in the RRE about so much. Our crowds are suffering, and that can't be discounted as one of the reasons. It is a stupid idea to suggest alienating even more of the fanbase, as that is all moving home fans out of the Chaddy would do.
Luddites. Backward looking town with some backward looking fans.
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you always got!

yes we do - entertaining, winning football
In theory; but we've improved and the gates have got worse! Where do you think City have picked up their extra fans from? - places like Oldham. The local population isn't interested anymore mate. The greedy league, & Sky (HD & 3D) is winning hands down.

I think a lot of the ranting lately has been massively bourne out of frustration, sparked by the letdown at Rochdale and intensified by the complete debacle at Accrington, in front of a large away following too.
Whilst the owner(s) have made quite the pigs ear of things with the club I can't help thinking that a backwards-thinking, and downright useless when it comes to the towns leading sports team, council are far more responsible for our troubles than the owners are. Right now we should have already had a brand new main stand and be halfway into the rest of the BP development. The true win-win scenario for all, we get the desperately-needed self-funding (and bloody nice) stadium, TTA get a bit of extra cash and leave a nice legacy behind. I can't really blame them for slowly winding down after hitting brick wall after brick wall; they've long since stated they weren't the Dave Whelan type throwing cash at it for ever and ever. The aim always was to get the club rebuilt and restructured and make a bit of cash along the way.
I'd prefer the fans to start putting pressure on the council. They are the root cause of our troubles and the heel-dragging and general negative responses to the clubs plans are pretty much the reason why Blitz and Gazal have already walked away. It's been a year since the plans for Failsworth were publicised with the fans get together at Radcliffe school, yet we don't appear to be any closer to achieving our aims.
As an anti Failsworth move fan even I find it hard to argue with your logic mate. There was one question though on the second or third page of this thread that said something like " and we all know what gets fans through the turnstiles don't we?......"
Well no we bloody don't! If it was free we wouldn't fill our arse end of a ground, we've improved the team from last year and we're still down. The Council is :censored:e but the apathy from an evolving local population if scary.
For all the WRONG reasons I'm begining to think that Failsworth may be the only chance, which means that its up to the council.
So we're Fecked!

Penney had nowt to do with it, probably told to STFU and he could sign Peter Gilbert....
So that's promotion clause - check
Premier league appearance - check
Goal clause - check
Sell on fee - check
Even if you think there's sod all chance of any of the above happening, you take a punt, dontcha?
Hmmm good bit of business that, oh and we've got the cup run...oh :censored:! So just the £1.5m loss then...
We're out of the cup - move on.

You weren't stood at the side were you? My dad mentions that (corrects) Latics fans quite regularly when that happens.
He's 60 but he looks very much 40.
You after a borrow for the wedding Jamie? 40?? lol

Thanks for putting forward the facts - just two observations:
1. The game at Rochdale only lasted 8 minutes or so - that starting eleven didn't constitute a winning side - my comment could have applied just as equally to that game.
2. Lewi (plus Feeney, Kelly etc) are what I call 'option' players and that sometimes means one of them may be played from the start or be a sub. Furman and Lee are not option players - barring injury or a prolonged run of bad form, they should always be in the starting eleven.
Oh I see now, so when you make ridiculous sweeping statements that are factually incorrect, you then include conditions such as your own opinions! - which for the record I don't agree with.
-
Basic rule - YOU DO NOT CHANGE A WINNING SIDE
Hang on
Last Saturdays starting line up had Lewi in it, he played Black & Cedric against Rochdale and again yesterday; so before you get to Lee & Furman the side was already changed. Sorry to let the facts get in the way of a petulant rant!
-
Jones was biz yeah but Black was fine???
-
Strange atmosphere today compared to Tuesday
Strange ground
Strange stewards and rules
Strange home fans
Strange midfield without Furman
Strange seeing Taylor doing a personal lap of honour talking to fans at the end
Strange defending especially by Hazell
-
I've said it before - he's OK, still learning defensively though and is in the top 3 or 4 consistent players this season. But he's no Denis Irwin!

Like many subjects on here this has been presented in a black & white format when actually it's shades of grey. Dickov will have been disappointed with his contribution so far and seems to be managing the situation realsitically. As he's shown with Gregan he has little room for sentiment and I trust him to make the right decision.
Interesting though that he plays for N.I. upfront on his own and works his arse off; and like him or not you can't accuse him of not trying here in a blue shirt. That's why I'm surprised at some of the comments on here, I could understand if he was a lazy sod who didn't try - and we could all name a few of them!

Andrew lloyd webber sleeps soundly tonight!
Well he feckin' well shouldn't with a face like that!
-
I think Simon's made a rod for his own back here, no way should he or the club have to reimburse us if Dale decide to charge. As admirable as his suggestion is, why should SC or OAFC lose out just because Dale decide to exploit the situation?
2 things;
1. We're speculating, so we don't know Dale are exploiting anyone
2. Sometimes it's more important to do the right thing? (Or in PR terms be seen to be doing the right thing!)
-
Other than Ritchie Jones being due a good game (to be fair that's been judged on home performances more) - the side picked looked OK.
-
Any idea who they all are?
-
SC has publicly stated that no Latics fans will have to repay to watch match so whatever Dale do it looks like costing Latics money.
They should do the decent thing and let people with tickets in for nowt .
Looking at this in a positive light, the guy gets a lot of grief on here (some of it deserved) so fair play to SC on this one. I think the reaction of some people has been way OTT, I got pissed wet through saw 8 minutes of football but am looking forward to the re-match. We shouldn't be surprised at referees making :censored:e decisions away from the 90 minutes, they drop enough bollocks during the game itself!

Pass and move
-
Hang on; Its Kieran Lee not Denis Irwin! He's doing OK but has made a few defensive mistakes, being a natural midfielder and all that.
He's not the Messiah!!
-
We'd have 2 more points. Yes Dickov has us playing better football but in many ways DP's hand was forced when our best goal scorer (who dickov got rid of and is still to replace) was injured and then had some major complications (apparently) during the surgery to fix the problem. You don't get points for playing nice attacking football.
What colour is the sky in your world?
