Didn't York do similar last season - boat load of new signings - and were mainly shit?

Yep! Spent more than us on agent fees if I remember rightly too. They were all raving about a striker they signed from Scottish football if I recall, and whilst I don’t know how he personally did i’m guessing it wasn’t good on the basis of their season.
They seem to have some cash though, so in a similar position to us in terms of spending that wisely!

Whilst Mellon is at the club I have no enthusiasm for next season.  Mellon will carry on blaming the fans for his poor home record and also isolating players he falls out with. I've no confidence in him.

When did he blame the fans for the home record?
I was at the fans forum, so don’t bother saying it was there!

  3. Some kind of exciting news that Luke mentioned a few times that we can’t quite announce yet, that he seems very excited about and which will be a game changer to the club bringing in money 7 days a week. Get the feeling it’s linked to little Wembley and finishing the north stand and surrounding areas and definitely heavily involves the council….

We'd sold 3,000 as of 4th May last year.

2800 is defo more than 2500

We hit 3500 season ticket sales on the 5th may last year. I found the old article when having a similar discussion on facebook.

  5. Enjoyed last seasons pre-season fixture list as managed to tick off a few new stadiums, so would have preferred playing someone different than Southport and Radcliffe again. Warrington will be a new one to tick off, and hopefully the 1 we are yet to announce will be someone we haven’t played before, but will probably be Curzon…..

Call me negative but I don’t see a way back for the club.

the Rothwells don’t have the cash to get us out of this league with any level of certainty. Lots of things will need to come together for it to happen and I expect to be here in 4 years time. May be shorter if the stars align, but that’s a long shot.

from there we won’t establish ourselves as anything better than lower half l2 and will probably drop down again.

I think this is our level now and anything above that will be fleeting appearance when we are punching above our weight briefly.

in short, top half NL is our baseline.

Absolute tripe. We may as well pack up now then if top half NL is our baseline. Are you privy to Frank Rothwell’s wealth? We had the biggest budget in the league last season, and will be top 3 at least again next. It’s all about how recruitment goes and seeing if we can learn from previous mistakes.

Club should be pushing them out but they are silent this year. If we can get 3k+ season tickets i still think its a decent number for this level

I agree, all seems very quiet from the club at the minute. Last season we saw update's every 500 they sold I think, and nothing this year on any topics.

  8. I renewed at ticket office this afternoon and asked. He said it had picked up in the last week or so, and he thinks we are at about 2500 or thereabouts.
Worrying numbers. 4500+ last season, which I presume includes the half season tickets. I vaguely remember it was around 3700 last season under early bird if memory serves me right.

That statement is really bad. It’s like they are trying to piss fans off. I still reckon two or three of them will get deals.

why not just say the ones we are definitely not keeping and the ones we are in talks with.

The statement is really bad and will piss people off if any of them do get new deals because then the statement contradicts itself. If there is no further updates and as the statement reads everyone has been released then I don’t see any issue with it.

I liked him but if I remember correctly he got dog's abuse here 10 years ago when he was 23/24. God help him at 34!

I cannot believe he is only 34, he’s been around for what seems like at least 20 years. I remember that he wasn’t a fan favourite here, but he had a long spell at Port Vale (probably where the Conlon connection comes from) and Southend and has had a decent League 1/2 career.

Tend to agree that i’d like to see us reduce the age of the squad somewhat though, but it does seem like MM prefers experienced players with pedigree of playing higher.

There are noises that one of the teams in the playoffs might not be allowed to compete (possibly Gateshead due to ground regs?) - the Aldershot manager mentions it in his post-match press conf. So 8th might get in. Makes our end of season collapse all the more frustrating.

Gateshead and Halifax have to play their games away though, so must be longer term issues such as their grounds not being up to EFL standards etc, which I can’t see. There are some awful stadiums in the EFL too.

  12. We really do need to hear from the club in the coming weeks about the direction of the club in the short term (1 year). MM said we’re already over budget for next season, or did I miss hear that? Even after we’ll release 9 players or so? If that is the case, or even nearly the case then heads need to roll and difficult questions need to be asked immediately. Wtf am I buying a season ticket again for if we’re basically already being told it’ll be the same group of players who have failed this season, and therefore the same shit boring tactics. We’ll be back to 3000-3500 crowds again in no time at this rate. They announced 6000+ today, but there were way less than 5000 who actually turned up.
