  1. Went to see city a few years back with two mates who were arsenal fans, we were on the front row. They were cocky as hell throughout the game, but luckily City won, and there was no trouble (and they are the dullest group of fans going anyway).

Hope I don’t get any probs on Saturday bringing my hudds mate in the main stand with me.

  2. Going up the top of the Reichstag is actually worth it if you want an hour or so off the sauce. I found it really striking to see where the wall wasn't, if that makes any sense. It made sense when I realised that every big corporation had gone out of it's way to put something really big and flashy over the minging grey Commie bits of the city by way of comparison, but it's sort of odd now the divide isn't there. That said, if you want to check out any of the older Berlin, the East quarter is (oddly) the place to go. I would have loved to have had time to check out the old East German Parliament building, just to see how wrong modern architecture can get, but down that side there is a lot of the old city left, and nice little bars and so on.
    Brilliant that's really useful thanks
  3. The away seats at Hudds and Oldham are both pretty good. I think for you coming to Oldham would be better as there's more riding on it.

Hudds is much bigger and better stadium, they've got one more stand than us, and always got more fans, but the fans, atmosphere and team are all crap.

  4. Shocking !

Any chance you can give monkeykieran the route map so he can go directly from the airport

haha no need for that sort of service for me but thanks

Oh and I'm also staying with friends who live there. All they want to do when I'm there is get wasted but I'm hoping not to completely miss the whole experience of the city. The toilet bar sound very funny

  5. This question is impossible. I have around 100 favourite films. 3 examples out of a massive list that first come to mind here for each category...

    The BIG films:

    The Deer Hunter

    The Godfather 1, 2 (& 3 - it is still a great film)

    Apocolypse Now

    Old classics:

    A Portrait of Jennie

    East of Eden

    Dr Zhivago

    Modern greats:

    Twin Town

    Mullholland Drive

    Leaving Las Vegas

    Foreign Classics:

Jean de Florette/ Manon des Sources

    La Haine

    Metropolis

  6. if you mean the thing about daylight being between attacker & last defender then i'm 99% sure that doesn't apply any more, it was a very brief rule. however i dont have my rule book at work with me so maybe someone who has one at hand/has a better memory than me could confirm or deny my thoughts...?

whilst we're on the offside rule, it really does my head in! lets just have the old fashioned rule where if you're offside, then your offside, none of this being 'active' rubbish. In the words of the great brian clough (i think) 'if you're not interfering with play, what are you doing on the pitch?'

Yeah the rules haven't changed, as suggested it's a recommendation on how to apply it My problem is that I think they should apply it in the sense that it was receommended, but they don't.

And yes definately agree on the "active" part of the offiside rule, it's bloody stupid

  7. you can bet on anything you like. you can bet that a plane will crash at OT tonight if you so desire (although if you won you would probably be visiting a certain part of cuba for free quite quickly). to place these bets you must ask a bookie to give you the odds. if you go into any shop they will probably ask you to give them half hour whilst they ask head office.

personally ive got a three fold accumulator that kurt cobain was murdered, there is life elsewhere in the universe and the current pope is the devil. £1.50 at 6/1 if you add city to finish third the computer blows up.

  8. listening to very dirty techno, which Berlin is most definitely the european capital of... if clubbing is what you are after, check our either Panorama bar or Bar 25... the latter which is actually basically a shack behind the berlin wall, which also doubles as a circus... with amazing music... if not slightly bizarre when you have just gone 3 days without sleep...
well that's what I'm there for (for the first 3 days)! berghain, panorama bar, tresor...

But I was hoping to do some random odd bits and bobs on Monday and Tuesday if possible!!

  9. Yeah good thinking, but it's more complex than that isn't it, there's also Man U, Man City, Bury, Rochdale, Oldham & Stockport's finishing positions that all contribute, and also widen the odds.

I wouldnt ever take a bet on Oldham and Cheslea win as I really don't think they both will, and I dont think 13/1 is a great price on that.

Maybe there's a local bookie that would look into it though, there must have been similar bets placed in the past

  10. What most annoys me are two things:

    1. Defenders bringing down or holding attackers in the box and always getting away with it

    2. Linesmen and Refs NEVER giving advantage to the attacking team on offline decisions, and not actaully using the "clear ground" official rule to ffside.

Without these two breaches of the official rules which go on in every game there would be more goals, and that would make footy more exciting.

  11. Leaving aside that the poster opening this thread didn't imply that Oldham is in Manchester but in the Manchester area (which it is), we've had this subject before. The only thing that needs to be repeated is that historically, both Oldham and Manchester are Lancashire towns, but officially have not been in the greatly reduced administrative county of Lancashire since local government reorganisation in 1974. Since then, both have been, along with eight other towns, in the county of Greater Manchester. Although these county councils were abolished in 1986, they continue to exist in law and as terms of geographical reference.
Thanks, I never said or implied or meant to imply that Oldham was in Manchester.

The very reason I started this thread was because in the "Manchester Evening News" paper, the sports section highlights the teams in the "Manchester area", of which we were currently top in all leagues.

I don't think definitely that this will be the same at the end of the season necessarily, that's why I suggested I'd take odds of 50/1. As in I think there's about a 1 in 50 chance of this happening (or slightly better), but it's a chance I'd be willing to back, it's a bit of fun in favour of our team!!

And...it currently is as per that prediction

....and I hope it stays that way :)
