  1. Great news. The reports certainly have a very positive vibe going on - and the recommendations are fairly comprehensive. PMSL at the ramblers objections about the helipad and the little wembley loss - since when did you last see a set of ramblers arriving by helicopter and then breaking the thermos' out for goal posts????

Looks like I might have to start preparing to put a bid in for my first ever BP seat

    Roll on next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Do people still hang their scarves out of car windows when travelling to away matches?

This was all the rage when I were a lad.

Me and my mate always used to hang the scarves out of the window, until one journey...the fateful trip down for the 2nd leg of the playoffs v QPR. Having picked my mate up at Warwick, I was driving a company car when said mate decided that it was time for the scarf to go out of the window. Unfortunately, slightly giddy with excitement at hopefully seeing the lads win through to the final he didn't take his finger of the electric window 'up' button at quite the right moment.

Have you ever heard the noise a car window makes as the motor (inside the door) grinds away at glass?

That was the least of the worries as, once hastly retrieved scarf was safely inside the car, the window gave up the ghost and decided to hide inside the door panel for the remainder of the journey. Thankfully the good residents of West London looked after the car whilst we suffered further heartache inside the ground.

Scarfs out of car windows... :awooga::imnotworthy:

  3. Only because the drummer has to stand and so everyone behind then has to stand all game. Noticed the drummers mates in front of us yesterday - hardly made a sound all game...anything to do with the 'no atmosphere against Southend and the drum will be brought back' argument?? Hope not!

Chaddy atmosphere hasn't been good for years, in fact in the 20 odd years I've been going (despite the odd exception) the ground has never been one for masses of singing. All the drum has done is cause issues, let's just let it go.

There are two real problems - 1 the way the ground is built - never will build an atmosphere with the open air and closed roofs of the current design and the lack of wit and thought that goes into our 'song list'. There are only about 3 tunes and every players name / team is made to fit one of these. Get some originality back and perhaps some of this boards members could group together to get things going in the different areas of the ground. If you want to rely on the current Chaddy 'choir' to get things going...it's not going to happen. You generally get the impression that unless the song involves either swearing or threatening an oppo player/team then it is not considered good enough to sing.

For example, despite never having heard the 'Guns' tune before it was raised on here. That is a 'chune' the type that everyone could sing and bounce to so perhaps if all OWTB gave that a quick blast you would find an atmosphere starting to build.

  4. Absolute legend, and my favourite player for a time. Remember one year they sold Frankie Bunnies...(blue soft toy rabbits) at easter in the club shop. 6 goals v Scarborough...League Cup record.."Bunn, he's done it, it's the record"...enough said.

  5. Certainly is a bit of a more difficult choice than the last couple of seasons when one has definately stood out. I guess it will probably go to Warney for the sheer fact that he just never stops. Controversial bit, though it would've been interesting to see what would've happened if we had had a really really pacey striker. I do think Wellens is a class above, and Gregan made a huge difference no only to the defence but the entire team with his approach/leadership. Also, would be remiss of me not to mention Will, who has led the team superbly and got on with things without the plaudits both Gregan and Stam have had.

  6. I may be interested in funding the 2 flags and 6x4 cut offs for fans option - depending on the costs of cleaning, repairing and cutting. Doing nothing isn't an option. Would rather keep the memory of the flag alive if possible. So 2 flags and a load of minatures knocking around the place would be great.

If you remember it has already been cut down from the Wembley appearance to 'fit' into the chaddy. Seem to remember that it wasn't much fun under the flag the last time it was unfurled, esp when you're trying to sing 'blue flag' as the grime was falling off it!!

Keep us posted on costs. In the meantime I'll leave it up to the democratic vote.

  7. Yes. Ok depressing as the last 4 have been, I thought we showed enough on Tuesday to deserve better. A couple of bodies in, first choice defence all back and firing and I think we can pick up the required number of points. The 4 teams above us aren't all going to win all of their games!!!

  8. Shez, just, for me. The Dowie side were excellent in what was a very difficult league (as the stats bear out), the pieeaters, crewe, qpr, bristol and cardiff that season were tough, good teams and it was amazing to have the away record we did. However, the quality of the football being played by the team this year is the best I've seen since big joe. Shez is different class....
