  1. The plot thickens. Received this via PM today:

From a guy who registered a while back but who has never posted. Second account of someone?

I got a pm to ring the guy, ref the same thing!!

    Interesting, i'll bell him tomorrow!!

I exchanged a couple of messages with him, he seems a nice guy and very genuine, think he just reads the board and doesn't contribute!

  2. that 5.30 train journey didnt go without incident either, off duty coppers trying to throw a lad off for chanting "get your tickets out for the lads" when the clippy came round, no sense of humour some people, lots of pissed up folk on the train who were doing the "real ale trail" only added to the hi jinks

Yeah and that annoying :censored: who kept shouting, 'Get it shagged'!!!!

  3. Anyone hear about the Town fan knocking a latics fan over in their car then tried to drive off before a few Latics fans jumped in the road and pulled the guy out?!

There were around six of us walking up to the train station after the match and about 20 Hudds 'boys' on the other side, just about 400 yds before we got to the station they starting chanting something like, 'where are ya Failswoth'

One of them, around 40 years old, strolled over to us and starting singing anti Oldham chants etc and knowing we were must be from Oldham starting baiting us!!

I'd had enough so in true Bruce Lee mode, duly laid out all 20 or so of them single handedly

Nah, we just casually ignored the knob and made our way to The Head Of Steam, opened the door, thought :censored: that when we realised it was full of meat heads and got the 5.30 train home

Not sure I'll ever be the same again

  4. Not sure I've seen mention of it but how :censored:in impressed was I with the metal we showed yesterday; never shirked a challenge, out-muscled a far bigger and more physical side and meted out a few sly ones to boot!!!

Now add that to a team that have goals, speed, flair and can string a good half dozen or so passes together and you have..................well, a half decent side that's more than capable of staying in the mix.

I say we vote with our feet, turn up Tuesday and cheer the boys on!!

Sorry, this ain't really a petition and i can't get the software to post it on OMBC's website but it'll have the same effect!!

KEEP THE OAFC IN OAFC

  5. I think Taylor will be ok, we all know what a drama queen he is

Don't think Rubes is banned yet is he

Stephens has got mumps, he did catch it off Brooke so ain't sure what the crack is there, apparently Stephens face was a bit like that of a certain Elephant Man.

Could be a few more knocks about, I know Lee was passed fit late yesterday morning after carrying a hamstring strain.

  6. Throwing it open, what do people want from Barry?

For him to keep answering questions on here as he has been doing.

To make it more accessible and professional though, how about a thread being put at the top of the board under the 'sticky' threads called 'Club questions for Barry' or along those lines, where when we have a legitimate question to ask regarding the club, Barry does his best to answer the posts when he is able to.

For those fans not on here, i'd suggest a fortnightly blog to be done by Barry updating fans of the latest news regarding the club, or what is ongoing etc so everyone is up to date - set up a blog and then attach the link within the official club newsletters and updates that we get sent out via email and also arrange to have the blogs re-printed fornightly in the Chron so those who are lapsed from the club or 'floaters' will also be kept updated and at least have some form of regular communication via their fans representative.

    OK?

That's about as bang on as it can be, there's only a modicum of information that Barry might be able to enlighten us with that we don't already know; there is nothing he can tell us that the club don't want him to tell.

Fire off your questions to a link on the trust site and let him put something together weekly, at the end of the day you're never going to get the answers to the questions that you know he can't answer. This in turn helps him keep face and stops all this baiting and mudslinging, I used to find it quite amusing then I just kinda lost all respect for Barry Owen The Director!! Now I just find the whole thing cringeworthy but hey that's my opinion, the greater majority are for the trust and it's director, that's your opinion and I respect that.

  7. That I heard tonight is that plans for a new ground, somewhere in Oldham, will be announced in the next 6 weeks.

Might be bollocks, might not be. Better than hearing all the doom and gloom that has been circulating recently though.

Ssssshhhhhhh, don't give them any hope........the depressive element of our on-line crusaders i mean

In the words of Denis Norden, "It'll be alright on the night"

  8. Apart from one nervy moment where he recovered brilliantly to bravely gather, he did well again today. One outstanding save and very good handling, he's played his part since he's been here and 1 defeat in 9 tells it's own story, including 4 clean sheets. Good bit of business by PD...

Note to knobhead in the Chaddy who made this comment during the Southampton debacle:

":censored: off back to scum you useless :censored: :censored:"

Think before you speak, or better still, shut the :censored: up in future

Btw, he's been excellent just wish Rubes would start listening to him!!

  9. Your post makes no sense and certainly only represents a view you would like to give to others. I was not aware of your meeting date and you only saw me because we had just finished a Board Meeting. I was on my way to another commitment and certainly would not have grunted or objected to being present if I had time. You give yourself too much credit.

Simon did invite fans to examine the books but not you in particular. You where self appointed and took great credit and accolate for what you did. Why I do not know because nothing was really revealed that was not known to fans anyway.

I note your lame excuses for the impotent input you have towards the Trust and the club. Others in similiar positions have made positive efforts to help no matter what their geographical location. It may upset you to know that some of the Trusts greatest critics have rallied this week to help out at a critical stage. It is a shame that at this your only desire is to trade insults and create bad feeling to score points.

    Barry

    Barry,

    A word of advice!!

You cannot get drawn into stuff like this, you need to learn to distance yourself; right or wrong you assume a position within the club that demands an air of professionalism, this clearly isn't professional.

I know you get baited but as they say, that comes with the territory; do yourself and everyone else a favour and stop posting and replying to posts on here. Do it through the official channels, club website or your trust forum like the other 'directors' do, that's professional!!

I can't believe Hardy let's this thing happen!!

No personal grudge here just a wtf everytime you get drawn into it!!!

  10. Don't quite know what to make of that Derek, we all deal with our emotions in very different ways.

I lost my mother a couple of days before Xmas and attended her funeral on the day we got hammered 6-0 by Southampton, I was at the game!!

Not because I'm an heartless bastard but because life goes on; I've fallen out with my mum on numerous occasions but I always made up with her, why...because she was my mum and I loved her!

I've 'fallen out' with OAFC on numerous occasions but I'll always be there to support them, why....because it's my club and I love it!!!

It's either in your blood or it's not; or maybe you're just a stubborn fecker

  11. I'd argue against that if I'm going to be honest with you, I wonder how many we've managed to put on the gate this coming Tuesday. I wonder how much more we've raised for PlayerShare through schemes that have come to light and being advertised by our community, I wonder how many Councillors and Ministers have had to take notice to the letters and emails and petitions.

Individually, it don't amount to a hill of beans, but together we can be as good and as effective as we want to be.

I can't argue with any of that, however a stay of execution doesn't mean you stay alive indefinitely!

I'm as passionate as the next man, I won't however jump into a fight until I've weighed up my options and know who or what I'm fighting against and what I'm fighting for.

  12. To be fair it was (mostly) tongue in cheek…nowt wrong with preparing for a worst case scenario. Burying heads in the sand like many have been doing has led us down this path….

    I'll bet it was

Save your energies until you know where and when they're needed and can be effective, there's no point in running around like headless chickens and losing the plot until we have something concrete to plan a strategy for!!

  13. Don't you worry yourself, concern yourself with Keiran's contract….

Here we go again, real good effort my old fiend!!

Kieran's contract's got jack :censored: to do with me, I'm sure he'll have earned whatever contract he gets for next season from whoever it is who offers him one. You see unlike you and me, the lad's a talented footballer and I don't think his immediate future's under any real threat.

I do love it when you get angry for no reason

  14. not really..am i supposed to be??

ok.so council hasnt got a pot to piss in....is in debt by say 15 million.....cant explain its expenditure to central government and they refuse to send more money...that technically bankrupt isnt it.....happened in wales a while ago....

That'd be Cardiff you're referring to, it was in 1999!!

Now correct me if I'm wrong but the 'claims' of bankruptcy were unfounded and unless I'm mistaken there's still a local council in Cardiff!!

Overspending, mismanagement or whatever happens, the government are the safety net.

Now, let it go and let's move on hey

  15. To be fair, people can say what they like, and deal with it how they like. I am fairly certain, if I'm not mistaken, that by now the majority of people are well aware of the possibilities and permeations. Powerless or not, it does no harm discussing them, and there's certainly no harm in trying. It shows how resourceful we can be.

Fair point, however until we know what we're dealing with our collective resource ain't worth jack!

  16. well while yer all burying yer heads in the sand i'll vent my spleen thanks very much for the advice though.

You do that mate, everyone's waiting with baited breath as to what yer master plan is!!

Me, I'm just waiting in anticipation for tomorrow's game and then Tuesday's and then Saturday's and so on!!

Nothing in life is certain but a little bit of good advice is that if you can't affect something, don't let it affect you until you actually know the effects of whatever it is that you were affected by!!

  17. And to that everyone is agreed. The odd's are not favourable even in 6th.

They'd be favourable in 2nd Lags, still a long way to go and we've still got scope for significant improvement!!

It's turning into a monster of a season in more ways than one, I'm hoping that tomorrow sees the birth of a real promotion push which in turn will go a long way to securing our short term future.
