To add to this, I think Hogan, Sheron and unfortunately Norwood could also be on the way out.

I expect Norwood to still be with us unless an affluent L2 club want to take him on. I also expect with more dynamic and pacey wide players, a beast in midfield and the extra creativity that will bring will bring out the best in our Turkey-toothed, newly thatched, moody goal machine.

It's that time of year again when @Matt and @Frankly Mr Shankly I ask if you have any Glastonbury Festival (line-up) suggestions for me? Or anyone else for that matter!

I think it's a better line-up this year, on the whole. Probably because the pyramid headliners aren't huge, tedious heritage acts although I think we all loved Elton John last year.

As headliners go, I really like Dua Lipa. Hits my pop buttons all day. LCD Soundsystem and Paul Heaton would be my picks from the top billing.

Into the middle order, Justice I've seen a couple of times at Primavera Sound and they were knockout good. Expect to hear "We Are Your Friends" in a couple of guides. Jungle will be fantastic and are made for somewhere like Glasto. Peggy Gou for some Nu-Disco bangers and Dexy's would be a must for me. Kevin Rowland's voice is sensational. I'm sure if I was there I'd get dragged off to see Fontaines DC, The Breeders and The National for classic indie action too.

I think Baxter Dury has got better and better with each album he's done and Idles are a riot live. Your Glasto fixtures like Orbital and Faithless will be bucket list-like experiences too. Steel Pulse will probably break the record for the heaviest marijuana haze in front of any stage and will be epic IMO.

The exciting, burgeoning names to seek out if you can would be Alvvays (sugar-tinged indiepop), Squid (ramshackle post-punk), Confidence Man (outrageous electro pop), Bar Italia (distorted lo-fi) and (despite the terrible name) Soccer Mommy (hazy Americana fem-indie).

Enjoy pal. I'll be watching from the comfort of the red button.

I have watched the first two. What the program shows is how a relatively small number of fans can cause so much disruption. No wonder the cost of policing games is so high.

The programme points out the main troublemakers are youngsters aged between 14 & 20.

It also highlights how the actions of one or two can incite the rest.

I’d arrest a lot more and issue long bans to the ringleaders  - there should be no place for it anymore in the modern game.

I would also come down hard on the fans in the ground who spend most of the match goading the opposition supporters.

    Zero tolerance.

They’re just normal men. Normal, innocent men.

To be honest don’t think much of Barnet’s signings. I think a dark horse might just appear from Nowhere.

It’s hard to call as I’m sure we don’t know much about them. But, like Bromley, they’ve solidified their play-off calibre and are building positively year on year. They’re getting time and patience too. Would a manager for us who pathetically bottled the play-offs twice - and it was a complete capitulation on both occasions - be permitted a third bite at it?

Yea I think they will be good this season.☹️

I don't think they'll be too much better than what they were last season but there y'go.

Like @oafc1955 says, it's going to be much more open this season. Barnet look the strongest out of the bunch so far but even their signings are all players plucked from this league or below. I can't visualise a team that will dominate the league like the last few seasons have shown.

  6. Report on Twitter is we’re interested in Kyle McAllister from Forest Green. It is one of those transfer rumours accounts that churns out content though, so large handful of salt required.

Former Derby & St Mirren midfielder. Plays front of midfield / false no. 10 similar style to Chris Conn-Clarke by the sound of things.

Seems to tick boxes going off the FRG website: “Kyle is a Head Coach’s dream. He trains hard and his work-rate during a game is exceptional.”

I wrote this earlier in the thread:

MM said that we have a number of players we are looking at - we need to be patient and trust that the right players move on and the right players come in.

I still stand by that - but as each week goes by and rival teams sign decent (on paper) players, I can’t help but think that it’s too quiet around BP…👀

    Stay calm Dog, stay calm.

I have that feeling slightly too, but given what MM said about the need to move players out as well, our transfer business is already more complex than virtually every other club in the NL.

If you've got players like Kurt Willoughby wanting to stay and fight for a place, but who clearly isn't in MM's plans then it's just making the wriggle room in the budget smaller.

Given we're still 3-4 weeks off when they return for pre-season, we just have to exercise patience that the wheels will start to move between now and then.

  8. To bring the thread back on track, who's everyone's favourite Aussie bands?

Got to be the Go-Betweens or The Triffids, right? The former were just about to sign for Rough Trade until the emergance of the Smiths in 1983 gazumped them. Nick Cave's good, but since he's lived in Brighton from about 1986 then I'm not classing him as an Aussie any more.

Apparently Luke Rothwell mentioned to a couple of people at the forum we are after Stones but probably be a loan job if we where to get him it would be later in the window.

Wigan are keen on taking Hudson and it looked like a possible swap deal from the info I heard some weeks ago now. Stones is keen on the move too by all accounts. Could be a loan with Hudson going that way for a fee.

I think the club will be going all out for Stones. It's an instant fan-winner and we all know what he brings to the team. Hard work, runs his socks off, scores frequently and brings the best out of Norwood too.

    Careful BD.

    Running/grafting isn’t rated on here.

If you dare mention it- you’re #anoldhamfanlovesarunnerlad.

Good to see Mellon (with 5 promotions) actually agrees that it’s quite important- I’d also note that the original Runner - Paul Warne has gone to have 4 promotions as a manager.

It’s almost like running and grafting is important, either that or 9 promotions is just technical players passing it to each other with pin point precision for 90 minutes, and thus negating any need for anybody to run.

I remember going to watch Barcelona in 2005. They played Real Betis at home. Laziest, couldn’t-be-arsed team ever. Ronaldhino, Xavi and E’to stood around with their hands on hips all match whilst Deco did all the heavy lifting. Embarrassingly funny.

Betis had the best midfield player I’ve ever seen that day. Marcus Assunção. Literally ran the show with rangey, laser-accurate passes. Baller.
