"What do people expect?"
People have been using this pisspoor excuse for a reason for a number of years now to justify each bad, desperate, kneejerk decision by our board. Each one making the situation worse and worse. F***ing sick of it!!!
Apathy from the stayaways, apathy in the boardroom, apathy amongst most accepting diehards/fans that haven't yet walked. It's a million miles from people burning effigies at Torex...instead of the powers that be offering crumbs and a car with an empty engine for sale to new potential owners, they should be selling up, lock, stock and accepting they've failed and accept their loss. That would be doing right and making good on the promise they all came with. Nobody's bothered tho...too busy sat feeling sorry for ourselves and accepting it...too busy making excuses for the botched job these clowns have produced. We had less than 4,000 when the reds and blues of Manchester were rubbish in the early 80's and survived...we had less than 4,000 in the late 90s early 00's under Brierley and co and survived...this time there's no way out unless they do the right thing and sell the land and club together. They've gambled and taken away option after option for us to survive...and the majority either stick up for them or have walked away. I guess the upshot is that a lot of people are going to get what they deserve. F*** all!
And so it came to pass, that the hammer did come down and strike the nail firmly on its head.

Strangely enough, I feel confident that we'd struggle in L2 once we'd cut our cloth to suit our league standing.
-
The Irish managers have an impressive record.
-
I'd give up if I were you Ryan. Intellectual engagement is fruitless when only one of you is armed.
-
And I slated Shez for it (although we were safely within the play-off spots when he messed it about).
While I think our weaknesses were clear before Christmas (goalkeeper, left back, goalscoring striker, right side of midfield) and the play-offs were always a big ask, the biggest unhinger was clearly stadium / Corney / late wages.
No doubt about it, they are all highly likely to have been detrimental to players' attitudes and state of mind.
-
If you're just outsdie the play-offs sure trying to improve things is the right thing to do?
It wasn't when JS was boss, and it hasn't been this season though, has it?
I understand the thought behind it, but it always seems to unbalance things.

Latics (4-4-2): Brill; Lee, Hazell, Jarrett, Black; Jones, Stephens, Furman, Alessandra; Feeney, Tounkare (Kelly 84).
Replace JJ with Mvoto and Jones with Taylor, and add Morais, Tarky and White to the subs bench, and you have the best balanced side we've put out all season, with the added bonus of a quick wide player to run at teams for the last 15 minutes.
That side has been messed with too much, and confidence has been shattered, just as it was with Shez in charge. Why do they feel the need to fix what aint broken, in the name of 'strengthening' the side?

If you have any problems - poor greens/unkempt fairways/the situation in Libya - speak to the captain at Werneth Golf Club. Any problems at all.
What?????
He's responsible for most of the divots on the tees, branches missing off trees, bare patches in the rough, lack of sand left in the bunkers and broken windows on the car park!!! Mind you, he has put quite a bit of money into the club already this year - he's bought about 20 new jumpers with 'Captain 2011' embroidered onto them so no-one forgets!
As for the Golf Day, it's nice to see some more business coming into the club, just as long as it doesn't interfere with our usual 12.45 tee-off at Werneth on a Friday
-
A note for any golfers, good or bad, who enjoy the 'craic' and a good days golfing, food and light ales.
On Friday May 20th, Oldham Hulmeians are hosting an annual golf day at Werneth Cricket Club.
Hope they repair their divots - especially around the crease.
-
White lets the ball bounce in the area under pressure at 47 secs instead of heading out of play. Hazell at 50 secs has a free header and manages to clear it just 7 yards. Hope PD & GT are picking up on this?
-
Which player ?
Oh, all of them. Why not? Might as well furnish us with as much opinion as you like while its quiet.
-
Hazell cock up leads to defeat. There's a statement that's becoming all too frequent.
-
A tad harsh on morais, prozac, but otherwise spot on.
-
hahahaha
You :censored:ing tit. The pair of you looked childish but this takes it to a level unparalleled even on OWTB.
I've got a massive cock if anyone cares?
Look!
My cock's bigger than yours....
-
but irwin was at leeds before us ? another massive club, brill has never been and never will be at a club as big as leeds man utd
Massive? Have a look at the league standings at the time.
Which club a player is registered to has cock all to do with the issue. FFS, Bruce Grobbelaar played 4 games for us, Bobby Johnstone and World Cup winner Ray Wilson both played for us - what the hell has the club got to do with it?
Kenny Cooper was at Utd - 'Nuff said.
I can't be arsed with the argument. Some of us have grown up things to do.
Just accept that some see it differently.
-
You should have said Paul Parker as Denis was a right back until he joined that lot. Sorry for being a pedant like :-D
If I'd said RB, someone would have pulled me up, stating that Denis played LB for Utd.
I was kind of hoping the point got across with minimal effort
-
the fact that ben is at manchester united and dean is here and been dropped twice here ? that not enough evidence to support my claim ?
No. It isn't.
In fact, it has little relevance whatsoever.
When Denis Irwin was at Latics and Lee Martin was playing LB for Utd, would that mean Martin was the better of the two, just by virtue of the fact he was on the Utd books?
Amos is a 4th choice keeper who (IMO) won't make the grade without a massive amount of improvement, and Dean Brill has also come as far as he is likely to, after playing in the lower leagues for the bulk of his career.
Who is to say Amos wouldn't have been dropped twice if he'd stayed?
Neither have proved themselves any better than the other, and other than reading statistics that are (Perhaps wrongly, who knows?) loaded in favour of Brill, there is only opinion dividing the two - Thanks for yours, but I'll stick with mine.
-
brill is worse than amos though.
Matter of opinion that. There's no evidence to support your claim.
However, if you were to look at the statistics......
Truth is, I'm not keen on either, but nor was I a fan of Pogs.
We are a club with a history of decent keepers, but times have clearly changed, and we bring in what we can afford, I suppose.
-
Their league status will have as much of a bearing on sales as the new ground (If not more) I'd have thought.
-
Glad it's not just me who thinks Amos has been vastly overrated since his arrival here. His shot-stopping has been impressive at times, but his positioning has been questionable to say the least, and his kicking is as bad as anything I've seen between our sticks.
Brill is no hero in goal, but he's no worse than Ben Amos.
-
These get worse every week. Defending is going backwards!
Gerry's department - maybe he could offer some insight into how exactly they practice defending set pieces and far post crosses?
-
...I sat in the Main Stand for a few games last season ...
Not sure we can blame ANYONE for complaining last season
-
Its the current FA board in their younger days.
-
What amuses me is the reputation Mainstanders have for moaning. From what I and others have seen, the CRE has more than its fair share of them.
Admittedly there do seem to be one or two Mainstand upper dwellers who are pretty vocal in their criticism, but they never quite seem to be as butch as their venom suggests if you know what I mean?

During a week's stay in Devon last year, I sampled (Amongst many others) the Butcombe, Otter and Wooden Hand offerings, and found them all to be very palatable indeed.
Also, the Wells Banana Bread was available in the Ashton Arms on Friday night, and is well worth trying (If the strong banana smell doesn't put you off).
