As the players left the pitch following their warm up, our senior steward gave some instruction / advice to Tommy.

Just before K.O, Tommy spoke with Shez as they walked down the steps to the pitch, and I’m pretty sure he was sharing the stewards comments with him.

Tommy always hangs out at the top of the steps, but regularly commutes between pitch side and the tunnel, up and down, up and down, and so on, all game.

Today was different, as he had clearly been told to observe from elsewhere.
He spent most of the game seated with the supporters on the Chaddy side of the main stand lower.

Anyone know what was that all about?

Latics no longer have a Performance Analysis Unit since they got rid of most of the team as a cost cutting measure - including the unpaid interns.  Maybe the Senior steward is undertaking two roles?

Joking apart, Tommy is probably sitting elsewhere to get a different perspective on the game.

That said, I do know that Shez isn’t big on team analysis/ scouting the opposition and I suspect that will become obvious as the season wears on.

Charlton future sell on clause to us according to some.

That's my understanding OAFC however I would love to be wrong and we get a % sell on

Highly unlikely as sell-ons are usually based on the profit made on the next transfer.  The fee paid by Burnley (£1m up front and up to max £2.5m with incentives) is likely to be less than what Brighton paid Charlton (around £2m).  Maybe we could get a percentage of the percentage Charlton receive (if they inserted a sell-on clause) but it’s unlikely that there’s any profit in the latest deal.

If we did benefit, then presumably a percentage of our cut would then go to the Administrators of Bury.

I’ve bought a ST and, you’re right, it is an act of faith. It’s also one that I feel gives the club a better chance of survival than boycotting. Personal choice and belief. The lack of sales shows the 600 are a minority and, as you say, that doesn’t need explaining.
I would be pleased if AL left soon and if the boycott helped bring that about then fair play. I presume that everyone who is following that line of action is also refusing to buy ifollow passés as money from these also goes to the club. So only non boycott boys ( and girls) will be able to watch the performances...

I hope to meet you one day in the Main Stand Pete and as always, you make valid points.  The answer to Singe was really to highlight that the truth can often be more powerful than hyperbole and there are valid factors for the massive drop in sales.

For personal reasons, I’ll be travelling back to Oldham more often in the coming months and as my boys are now young men, one of the best ways I get to spend fun and quality time with them is watching football.  It’s always a bit of a trek for us so we tend to make a weekend of it and had some memorable trips to away games last season.  I never saw us win, witnessed precious few Latics goals but I’m still smiling when remembering days out at Forest Green, Crewe, Leyton Orient etc. and some epic drunken nights as part of the package in Swindon, Birmingham, Manchester and London.

Because of my views regarding AL, I chose to boycott home games last year but as it’s highly unlikely we will get admitted to away grounds this season (and after drunkenly agreeing to buy a ST for middle son’s birthday), I’ve bought (a family of) four for 2020/ 21.  I may never get to use them and probably won’t get to all the games but for me, it’s the only way I’ll get to watch Latics live this season as capacity is bound to be significantly restricted.  I’m lucky as I am able to make that choice but I know that many aren’t.

Some will criticise and a few may call me a scab.  At the end of the day though, this is about family for me.  Latics will be here long after AL has departed and while I would really love to see him starved out, I think his actions show that he’s prepared to haemorrhage money rather than cut his losses.

Anyway, I want to spend time with family and hopefully, have a few more weekends in Manchester.  It wasn’t an easy decision but I can live with it and am looking forward to the first game that we are allowed to attend.

No matter how anyone tries to spin it, 3,000 ton750nis a disaster when very few other clubs have shown a major drop.

We've ve had 3,000  for several years, more after relegation to L2.

Not seen that sort of drop anywhere, even if there is relegation involved.

Seen on Twitter that you’re having a mare of a day mate.  Hope your train troubles get resolved.

It should be totally obvious though the reason why ST sales are way down at Latics compared to the majority of other Clubs.

Anyone buying a ST for any team is taking a massive leap of faith at the moment.  All things being equal, you would see similar take up throughout the leagues.

Stockport are owned by a local businessman who is looking to invest.  Carlisle are owned by a consortium of local businessmen.  I don’t know the ins and outs but I’d guess that fans at those clubs are prepared to “help out” in buying STs that may not get used this Season.

Compare that to Latics (and a few others) where the owners are very unpopular.  Most of us want the AL regime out of our Club.  So why would ST sales be anything like previous or comparable to better run Clubs?

I agree that the ST sales are a disaster for AL but the reason why is totally “understandable” and requires no spin.

Seems to suggest that Wigan don’t expect to win the appeal against the points deduction which is taking place tomorrow. 🤔

The Administrator will be obliged to remove as much cost/ liquidate as many assets as possible regardless of which division Wigan will be in.

They were seriously considering not appealing the points deduction as it will cost £400k apparently.

When we start arguing over which of our three defeats was best we really have reached rock bottom, lower than a slugs ball bag this shower.

I was pointing out to JTM that it wasn’t the worst performance of the season let alone the worst performance in (5) years.  In my opinion.

I wasn’t arguing about a ranking of shitness if you read it in context.

  7. 4 minutes ago, JTM said:

Would say in the last 5 years I've been to about 90% of home games and about 10 away games in total. Never seen anything quite as bad as yesterday. I remember being 3-0 down to Peterborough at half time a few years back and it was better than Saturday

In my opinion, it was the third worst performance this season so if you ignore the Mickey Mouse Cup game against Liverpool kids, I could argue it was the best of the season so far.

    Opinions eh?

Although the post carries quite a lot of accuracy, there are certain points included within the post that are quite clearly untrue.

I was supportive up until seeing the pathetic display of defending for their 2nd goal. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. I then turned my anger and frustrations straight to board level. Towards Abdallah, Mo and Barry Owen. Throughout the second half, I joined in and started on occasion the songs against the board. Never did I or many more like myself turn on the players.

Towards the end, I headed down to the front of the stand to vent my anger at the final whistle. That was definitely not aimed towards the players but purely straight up to the board level.

The players, to be fair to them, stuck their necks out and faced the angered following away support. Azankpo came over and was in tears. It probably shocked him to see the crowds feelings towards the whole situation but he was reassured by supporters that fans do not blame the players for the current situation.

My friends and I then called Jamie Stott over who we spoke to for about 90 seconds or so. My words to him were “All of this anger, frustration and emotion is not towards you and not towards the majority of the players. The problem is up there (pointing to the directors box). He nodded in acceptance whilst looking heartbroken. I’m sure he was, he’s been at the club for 11 years I believe. He probably can’t quite believe it either”. Stott then  went off clearly emotional and in tears to which he was consoled by a member of staff. This is where a problem then started.

That club member pulled a couple of players away, before doing the wanker sign in the direction to myself and my friends. I have known this particular staff member for quite a few years so I was extremely pissed off as you can imagine.

It ended up getting worse with a couple of scuffles breaking out, nothing to do with me and in my opinion really not needed or required. Following leaving the stadium, we headed up the hill towards where the offices were as we wanted to voice our furstrations once more towards the board. Said club staff members partner then came out and shouted towards the support (about 20/30 people in total) that he will “see fans in the pub later and sort it out man to man”. I appreciate he was frustrated and angry too but not the best way of going about it. We were then moved on by police, in hindsight, probably the best for the situation before we headed back to the Bradford Arms for a debrief on the game.

Some tears were shed, heated discussions within our friends group and then a “what do we do from here” chat which still doesn’t seem very clear.

The actions of the club staff involved was poor. I sent the following message to this said individual on facebook not too long after the incident:

“Don’’t ever call me a wanker again for standing up for the club I support. Abdallah, as I’m sure you very well know is ruining the club yet you call supporters wankers. I appreciate Jamie Stott was upset and again not his fault as was reiterated throughout our furstrations. I don’t blame the players, firmly lies at board level so if you think I’m wrong then fine but we have 43 games to save this club going into non league so we need to speak up now before we leave it too late”

I then got a response of: “I didn’t call you because of Abdallah, I feel for the players that everyone was abusing”

Fair enough response however, certainly the people who were talking to the players at the front, there was no abuse towards them whatsoever.

Our club is in a mess!

Sorry but I take exception to your first sentence.  I was talking in general terms and didn’t ask everyone in the stand what their motives or actions were so saying my points are not true is simply wrong.  We agree on virtually everything else though.

Moving on, I’d say good on you for the words you had with Jamie Stott.  Nothing should have been aimed at him but the mob were baying at all the players regardless of how they had played or indeed, whether they had played at all.

I wasn’t aware of who the club representatives who came over.  Fair enough for them consoling and protecting the players but they should never have reacted like that to the crowd.

The more I think of this, the more annoyed I get that the whole scenario wasn’t nipped in the bud by someone more senior at the club whether that be the Lemsagams, his Security team, manager, coaching staff, captain or senior players.

They should never have been allowed to approach the crowd.

You are totally right and the Club is rotten.  We need change but there are plenty of threads for debating that.

I wasn't there, no, but what I do know is that the players chose to sign for this club - most will have been aware of who Abdallah Lemsagem was before they arrived.

Let's be honest, a bit of swearing and shouting is mild histrionics.

Questioning if they're grown men? Did you go to watch the youth team yesterday?

Your post literally expressed no opinion whatsoever.

Probably best we leave it there then and agree to disagree.

The original post gives far too much weight to booing...

They're grown men, getting booed for 30 seconds.

I guess you weren’t there then if you think it was 30 seconds?

My post probably gives too much weight to booing because that’s what I was discussing.  Booing, name calling, abusive language, physical abuse, stewards getting involved, fisticuffs.  Lots more too so it really was a hectic 30 seconds!

I never said that the booing wasn’t warranted.  I booed myself.  You seem to have dismissed all the rest of what was going on though as high jinks and mild histrionics.

Grown men?  I’ll take your word for it.  Thanks for the opinion though 👍

Thanks.  That would make sense.  I read the original post too quickly and thought something had happened “today” but it was perfectly punctuated and I missed the comma 😊

I was genuinely interested and am glad I asked nicely but either way, apologies @Fanny Adams

I’m getting schooled today and my reading comprehension is a bit shit.  I’m probably still pissed from yesterday in fairness so I’m glad we came home by train from Leeds this morning 🤣🤣🤣

sad thing is this lad really coulda been part of the solution to the current issue of lack of fire power ,and no doubt if he woulda knuckled down he woulda been involved in the last few games, but unfortunetly chose to become part of the problem 3 steps forward,4 steps backwards, own worst enemy

Sounds like he is getting some tough love which is exactly what is needed to ensure he doesn’t repeat this, or a similar offence.

Good luck to you both and I really hope that his career can recover.

ask mr chuckle how his expose on the trust is coming along ? guess he still wont have published his "scoop "

I was listening to him and that Steven guy slagging off the Trust in the beer “tent” area at the FGR game.  Their whole reason for the conversation seemed to be about how Darren had given fans the email addresses of certain club officials.  Oblivious to the fact that those are in the public domain anyway.

Good to see that he was still giving the team directions even at 3 nil down yesterday.  Perhaps he will be named as the new puppet manager when Banide walks?

Unrelated to the actual match, I was in hospitality yesterday and Dux was the guest speaker.  He couldn't resist having a dig at the club and said 'due to the way I have been treated by both clubs, today I'm definitely supporting Bradford City' 🙄

I’m struggling to understand what any club officials from Latics could have done to be perceived as treating him badly seeing as he was there as a guest of Bradford?

There would probably only have been Barry there who knew Duxbury from his time at Latics and regardless of what we some may think of Bazza, I’m sure he was a fan of Dux when he played for and led by example, one of the better teams in our recent history.

He got a great reaction from Latics fans at half time so it can’t be that.  Perhaps he was just playing to the home crowd in hospitality when he said that after the game and I imagine his comments drew some applause and cheers?

Genuinely interested to know if he shared the real reason behind the dig if you can.  Cheers
