Sutton and Hobson will be frozen out in favour of Hogan and Raglan but you could argue which would offer you more. Unsworth for me just drops the youngest player it's standard for a weak manager. One things for sure Sutton and Hobson will both do just fine higher up the pyramid wherever they decide to go next in much the same way Vaughan has, would Hogan get a game in an EFL team? It's debatable.

I completely agree. I don’t think Hogan gets anywhere near one, he’s very very limited. I’d be targeting him if I was the opposition manager.

Hamer and Edmundson are examples of young defenders who were given a chance, Sutton is an out and out centre half and should be given the chance to develop as one. He’s no worse than either of those two at the same stage of their careers.

After having a season ticket for over 40 years, I didn't renew 3 seasons ago when the Lemsagams were in charge I went to the match Last night and took my brother along hoping It would give me some impetus to renew my season ticket and start going again - It didn't!

We have no midfield, the midfield we have are great at passing sideways and backwards, they struggle to find a blue shirt especially Tollit and the 2nd touches were tackles, we were slow and looked like we didn't know how to get forward. Norwood kept coming deep to get the ball as no one else was trying to get the ball to him. The only player that stood out for me was Kitching, he was the only one who was trying to get forward and get some crosses into the box. Last night Nuttal did naff all, I don't think he brought anything to the team last night. Didn't think much of Hogan, wayward passes and headers and not a  very vocal captain.

Abject performance, no bite or penetration and a shaky defence.

On that showing last night we are way off promotion.

Bang on this especially the Hogan comment, he’s a weak link. Can’t pass forward only sideways, is shaky, his headers go up in the air rather than forward and he isn’t very mobile.

Raglan has played at a higher level and is experienced enough to have Hobson or Sutton alongside him.

Jamie Stott looked like a man yesterday rather than the boy he was when he was coming through, add in his calmness on the ball, ability to pass forward through the lines and the balance that comes with having a left sided centre half and I’d have him back in a heartbeat.

Shelton, Sheron and Raglan all stood off the goalscorer and never even thought of closing him down.

To be fair I’d have let him shoot that far out, it was a worldy.

Was a great incisive pass from Jamie Stott mind, it highlights one of the main things we’re lacking, the inability to pass forward through the middle of the park, everything goes wide for a hopeful cross.

Unsworth claimed in a recent interview that Lundstram, Ward and Green were 3 of his first choice midfielders. How true that is I’m not sure.

So you are making an assumption BP and don't actually know?

Don't get me wrong he's a good player who id love to see playing for us.

I just don't like it where people make comments they can't back up.

I had a conversation with Macclesfields manager. I thought it worth putting in here what he told me. It’s not upto me to try and convince you that what I’m saying is true, I don’t give a shit. There’s no reason for me to make something up, what’s the point in doing that?

  6. I’m going to the Halifax game before I emigrate to Australia at the start of September.
If we’re dire against Aldershot and the same vs Halifax then I’ll be going upto the dugout to tell him to his face.

I’ll reiterate my points mentioned previously:

We will not progress with him in charge.

We will not foster a culture, identity or style of football under him.

His reputation within the game is not great, we don’t get every player we’re after.
At least 20 of the other 23 managers would have done and would do better with the resources he has. Kevin Maher is ex-Oldham and has shown himself already to be a better manager than Unsworth, as has Mike Williamson.

Also, Darren Royle isn’t all he’s cracked up to be, he is hated by Wigan fans but has engineered himself into his dream role here. It’s truly great he brought Frank in but it’s nepotism keeping Unsworth in a job.

@b0ndl1ne any truth in the rumour that James Berry is going to Chesterfield? One of my mates has a contact at Macc and he seems to think it's on!

    I’ll try and find out.

Seems a weird one unless they’re going to move Colclough centrally as Berry can’t play with his back to goal so has to stay wide

If we do get another forward in, be it Norwood or someone else, I wonder if that's on Joe Royle's say so moreso than Unsworth's....

He liked to collect strikers and it usually served him well, us included....

this big Joe love in needs to stop. It was a different era, he failed when he briefly took over (bigged up Ryan Brooke if I remember rightly).

leave it in the past, he’s an antique now

Isn't Mark Duffy their manager now...?

He is yes. He was playing for Tranmere when it was one of Harry Vaughans first games. Says their dressing room had a chuckle when they saw him before the game but then they were all raving about him afterwards.

Really.....so he turned us down....to continue playing in the Northern Premier League where amazing football is played weekly ....because he didn't like our style of football!!

    Never heard such bollocks.

He's still at Mac I believe.... so wonder why he hasn't moved to City yet if that's his rationale.

Think their manager has been on the mushrooms....

You’d best tell me how those bollocks taste fella because it’s the gods honest truth.

He didn’t think our style of play would suit him and he doesn’t rate Unsworth (he’s a scouser as well) so instead he signed a new contract on what is crazy money for the level he’s playing at because he knows he’s ultimately going to a football league club so he’d rather continue to be the main man, have everything go through him and stay in focus until that happens.

Their manager grew up with Ant Gerrard and Lee Trundle and told me some good stories about them but I’m keeping them to myself - don’t want people thinking they’re bollocks now hey.

Against pretty much everything Unsworth said n his BPAS interview

It is you’re right. He wants experience and big clubs want their players in the football league.

I just disagree with Unsworth‘s approach though as mentioned elsewhere.

If I was manager I would want two central midfielders comfortable on the ball, who can dictate the speed of the game and be able to drive forward in possession and that lad and Lundstram would offer that.

I’m mentioning it to see if anyone agrees or disagrees

    Totally agree 👍

You have, as we all do, the right to an opinion, even if it is based on something that cannot be proved/disproved.

I suppose Unsworth can join Nuttall in the ‘F’ for fraud file that some seem eager to point out … whilst of course hoping that they’re wrong! 😉

It’s the joy of football 👍🏻

Though good enough to have many other players signing?  Or is it solely down to avarice, wages overcoming principles?

I’d say the extra wages, local players relocating back to the north west and the chance to play for a ‘big club’ in front of a ‘big crowd’ was the swing for those we’ve signed so far.

Unsworth failed with Everton’s youth team and their fans don’t want him anywhere near their club. We will never get a player on loan from there whilst he’s manager.
