  1. We don't do "confession"...

I am not guessing at anything... Out of the sample above you have an answer... If it applies further a field is a matter of debate. I have seen exit polls based on lower numbers though.

The Church I was Baptised into does.....but that's beside the point.

You said there are 3,037 on this board. I questioned how many are not Latics, you said "For the argument sakes lets say 500... How the hell would I know..." You can't have an argument based on figures which are unknown.

  2. :petesake:

So you are actually suggesting that more fans of other clubs signed up than latics ? :censored: me jesus wept...

I find it hilarious how Latics fans some how manage to undermine there own shred of power. With the death of the supporters club, with the complete and utter failure of the trust, to not recognise the collective influence a heavily backed fan site like this one can have is amazing.

You are guessing at figures to attempt to provide statistics. As for the blasphemy, I thought you bothered the fella upstairs, make sure you go to confession before midnight mass.

  3. And i would have put the last three quotes all in one post but like i said, i dont know how!!!!!

Now. What i want for Xmas is to hear a few things CJ would like to see incorporated into the stadium design WITHOUT mentioning capacity, lack of ambition, or our impending move to Mordor and ultimate demise.

Go on lad, you can do it........

No he can't and won't. He'll just tell you to run along Noddy or something like that.

  4. We have 3,037 registered members

    Sat 21 Colchester Attendance 3,607

I think there is plenty of evidence to suggest we have a reasonable cross section of feeling.

Note that we never heard about from Barry regarding this "wider" audience he was seeking via the newspaper moaning he did a few weeks back. I know of know better source of opinion on the current state of Oldham Athletic than OWTB. If you know of a better source then please say...

...and how many of the 3,037 are from other clubs?

  5. A lot of focus on what corp thinks...

People might want to note the 40% of people here who also are not yet backing the stadium plans...

I do see OWTB has a snap shot of the support. We do have a reasonable cross section of the fans base posting on here I feel and if this poll carrys over to the general support then I would suggest there are plenty more corps out there... Which I would suggest is very worrying...

On the other hand 60% are. As for plenty more Corpse out there, I'd say there are millions.

  6. Wisely? Isn't it obvious? Targetting the right kind of player as opposed to splashing out willy-nilly.

Don't know what you mean by your second sentence. It's a bit incoherent.

Don't give two tosses where Bolton or Hull end up. Don't see that what might (or might not) happen to them should be used as an excuse for why we have to remain where we are or drop further. Better to have tried etc.

I'm not advocating anything. It's all academic. As I said, we're knackered. All the interest disappears when we've resigned ourselves to merely treading water at this level (even if the nodding dogs pretend there's still ambition left, it's given the lie by a lower division capacity.)

But you have used them as an example of what can be achieved with ambition. Make your mind up.

  7. Rochdale may well have a 10k capacity now, but I predict that if they manage to maintain their current momentum and see the need to move they will announce plans for a new stadium that is BIGGER than Spotland, as opposed to us planning a smaller one.

If rumours are to be believed, they will sell Daggers in the transfer window. How will they finance a stadium if they can't even hold on to a League 1 player at the very best?

  8. RATM are about as Anti Establishment as Take That.

"---- you I wont do what you tell me", whilst on a major record label responsible for "feeding you endless doses, of sugar-coated mindless garbage" (copyright Dead Kennedys); I guess kids don't understand irony. I would have been impressed by the "campaign", if it would have been Crass that would have made xmas number one, but RATM were clearly backed by the establishment itself in a lame attempt to boost record sales "Sales are slumping, no-one will say why, could it be that they put out one too many lousy records?" (again copyright Dead Kennedys).

I bought Nagasaki nightmare when I was 12. I went home and played it in my bedroom. My father heard the song, saw the title and the picture cover and give me a right beating, calling me a sick bastard etc.

  9. If a speculative point is worth making, it's worth hammering home like it was fact, though.

Sometimes there is only one point to make. Lost sight of it at your peril. I made a vow to be stoic in my self-appointed role as conscience of the Latics fan.

So where Barry is 'the voice', you are the conscience? Hmmmm I wonder if TTA would allow you on the board?

  10. I've said not a few times, in this thread and similar ones, that I don't claim to have all the facts. And that I'm only speculating on what Failsworth means for the club on the basis of what we've so far been told and the record of the last fifteen years or so.

Maybe reading threads properly would make them less mundane for people?

But for all of your speculation you do tend to ram home your speculative point as if it were fact. As for reading them properly, if they didn't contain the same point over and over and over.......they might be of more interest.

  11. I feel duty bound when my posts are answered with a misunderstanding or a misrepresention. However.

Well I for one do not misunderstand your posts, you are entitled to your opinion. It is a mostly valid opinion, but then like the high majority you rely on supposition and guesswork, which does dilute a strong point. I'm not suggesting your point is wrong, just you don't have all of the facts, which nobody does. That's what makes all of the threads about new Stadia etc. mundane.

  12. As I keep having to say, I don't present any of this as indisputable fact. I do know plenty of Failsworth residents though, and have merely described the impression I get.

And everybody knows that during the sixties and seventies there was an enormous influx of people into Failsworth from places like Collyhurst, Miles Platting, Moston (the proper bit), Harpurhey, Ancoats etc etc. Wages had been rising for some time, people wanted out of the inner-city, and for people in those areas Failsworth was almost in the countryside yet conveniently close to family left behind etc.

This is what gives Failsworth its Mancunian flavour. It isn't a mystery.

You don't have to keep saying anything, it's your choice to.

  13. Great, but why the underhand comment towards the American girls? Two girls travel halfway aroud the world to watch Oldham play and all we do is question their motives, or just simply give them a hard time! On the other hand, the same dickheads, whom claim to be oldham fans, can hardly be bothered to attend a game!

I look forward to meeting them on their next vist to Boundary park!

I will not be silenced by the saps! :)

    Drunken rant over.

    You're hopeful aren't you?
