  1. Went in a few weeks ago during the day in the week. Place was pretty quiet, just a little crowd in the tap room mainly consisting of pensioners and a geezer who must have been about 90 but was still sharp as a knife, joining in with the banter.

Also went in about 9pm one Friday a few weeks ago and the place was dead really. Surprising really...I'd have thought in these tough times everyone would be wanting to get on the Alpine at just 1.71.

I'm not a regular, so I might have caught them on an off day, but the last two times I have been in the Alpine was not up to the standard served in my local...

When the Alpine was known as Ayingerbrau (sp) in there, we used to call it 'anging brew, 'cos it was effin awful.

  2. Who were you?

The game: Port Vale or someone like that at home. 2003.

    The place: Lookers Paddock.

The injury: Broken collar bone after toppling over trying to pick the ball up as it rested against the advertising board, causing the entire Lookers stand, players nearby and half the Chaddy to break out into spontanious fits of laughter. Then having the shame of being walked down the entire length of the touchline by the St. Johns Ambulance crew.

    I salute you!

I remember that, absolutely first class........sorry, don't know his name though.

  3. I take it that was aimed at me..

WOW!, That is a really nice offer!! Thanks very much!

I live in Warrington but I am currently working out of Wigan. So getting to the games is not that hard, its the getting home part that is harder. I havent been to night games for ages as it really is a chore. I would not get back in till gone 11pm at the best. And then I am back up 6am to go back to work... Also with a little one on the way I doubt this will be changing any time soon :)

As LaticsPete was so quick to point out, I am currently not going to the games but offers like this can only help bring me back to the fold :) Thank you :) You sir are a gentlemen :D

Don't you work in Manc city centre?

I own a small business... I operate in Manchester.... Im not worried....

How exactly is this going to effect a small business ? Surly if your preaching it you can explain it ?

  4. That "Dike" is the name of the ancient Greek goddess of moral justice, and that its use to denote a wall or bank built to contain water or enclose a separate land dates back to the 1st millennium BCE, shows a very long, deeply rooted history of positive meaning applicable to women and to woman's power, despite the modern day suggested etymology of a misstatement of the Greek term "hermaphrodite."

  5. quite a number of crewmen (front & back) who work on chinnys are from the area so they may have been doing a training sortie and popping in to see their mum too!!

the vulcan was on its way to southport airshow ... i myself used to see it from time to time when i was in the RAF .. not seen it in ages but i'll remedy that soon

Which show are you planning on going to? Haven't they all finished for this year?

  6. Might not make Charlton after-all, so may be able to watch the Grand Final at home. See how I feel later in the week and work on the wife's conscience a bit more, even if I do go it will be a probably be a teetotal trip. If I'd not already spent £60 on ticket and travel I wouldn't entertain it tbh...

A fella I work with might still have 2 grand final tickets available if anyone wants them.

  7. I love all this reading between the lines conspiricy theory stuff. Well I would if it were based on anything other that certain posters 'reading between the lines'. Officially I have read every statement from the club and the only thing remotely quoted is the area (Failsworth) and the capacity,(12000) and from that ... we have this thread. I am neither for (yet I can see the sense in a move) nor agianst ( I can also see reasons as to why it COULD affect the club). I fail to see any milage in 'making stuff up' sorry reading between the lines to suit an agenda. I just want to watch my club play football greatly or not, in this division or not. I want to pledge my support in victory as in defeat and I want to see us battle against the odds in cup matches and I want Saturdays to be about what they have been for me for over 20 years. Banter, fellowship, fun, pies and Oldham Athletic. The owners are beyond my control and fuelling already greatly exaggerated rumours and twisting words is just one of the things wrong not just with the club but with the town and area and country. Looks like were stuck with it ....... ! Supporting a club isnt about what league you play or have played in .... if it was surely we would all be dirty reds or bandwagon blues.

    Amen brother....

  8. Especially, if pretty soon after you want out eh!!

Think about what is happening........the move to Failsworth is a joke!!!!!!

Until now, I have never questioned the actions of TTA. They have been fantastic and were the saviours of this club and for that I will be eternally grateful, however, this move is for short term gain and not long term security!!!

TTA have had enough and who can blame them, they are still hemorrhaging money at an alarming rate but the question is....after our move to Failsworth, will they be able to sell the club?....and if the answer (as I suspect) is no ......What then?

We will have to be totally self sufficient with sub 3000 crowds like Rochdale and Bury and absolutely no chance whatsoever of any progression!!

We might even end up in the conference.........Is that really what we all want?

There has to be an alternative site for our club to survive and prosper because there is no future whatsoever for our club in Bloody Failsworth!!!!!!

Think about what is happening........the move to Failsworth is a joke!!!!!!

    Why is it a joke?
