  1. I'd rather have the financial problems of a Championship or PL club than those of a third or fourth division outfit though.

We have already had those, that's why we are where we are in the position we are.

A quote, I'd like an answer to who made it.

"Didn't I warn them this would happen.

Pray I said, be on your guard I said.

For the evil world never lies.

    I said exorcise the Devil!

    But no they wouldn't listen.

The Demons inside them grew and grew.

Until Satan gave his signal, and destroyed the world club we knew."

  2. Jeez, you're wound up.

You said "I spent the whole of last couple of years screaming about just how bad things was"

So, what the hell were you on about, and what did you think could be done? What were the alternatives, options etc?

Or were you just screaming anyway? "Rant, rant rant, we're doomed"?

As for that STFC ground, some prefer the keepmoat, I don't - another bowl, another day, but it's not really a major thing for me how it looks, I'll be sat down inside watching the game on the pitch.

Oh, and it'd probably be harder to expand a bowl stadium.

Are you sure it's a bowl and not a dish? Of course with our measly 12000 capacity could it be called a bowl?

    Sorry forgot

  3. No cj, on our way to saturdays game we passed Bedale towns ground, the game was being watched by 15 people, no seats, no stands, no shelter, just a pitch and two dugouts for the subs. THATS the lower end of the game.

The first club Simon Grayson played for. He has a pic in their clubhouse.

  4. You, like many on here, seem far from gloomy about the prospect.

Look, what goes on with the people who own the club I have no control over. Your point is a valid one, which has been stressed eternally. The fact is whatever TTA do it'll still be OAFC and I'll be supporting them. Nothing to do with happy clappers or doom and gloomers, just plain supporting my team.

  5. What I am saying is it is all fine and well saying we can expand as required but you need the money to expand... Lets say in five years time having been in our new stadium for two years we go up and we need 16,000... We need to find the money to build, as well as strengthen the team... You can bang on all day about more money from TV etc but its not likely to come to £4 Million... The idea of expanding seems to be dependent upon big pots of cash turning up long after TTA have gone...

    That was my worry...

We won't need 16000, we're destined for a life of gloom in 'the lower leagues'.

  6. So what. Should everything be based on the fact that the latent support in the town has been so demoralised by the fiasco of the last fifteen years that many still wouldn't turn out for those games?

More relevant is the fact that we averaged 13000 in the season we won the old Division 2, and had 18-19000 in the ground for some games around that time. What clearer statement that the club has given up even paying lip-service to one day recapturing those days than putting a 12000 limit on capacity?

Fortunately for the club, some people (although nowhere near enough) will still swallow it as ambition; some people drink Carling and enjoy listening to Oasis, however.

In 1930 we had an attendance of over 47,500. Should we be building at least a 50,000 seater?

  7. I do not think you need to attend games to have an opinion on the Board... I accept that my opinion on the manager is some what diluted.. Suggesting I should have no opinion at all though, I take issue with that...

I was merely questioning your opinion not denying it.

On Saturday we were beaten 2-0 by the highest ranked team in the competition, a team who some thought on here would put a cricket score past us. I thought we played with promise in the second half and were only caught out chasing an equaliser to make the score two nil. Your opinion suggests the team is poor, what is your basis for this opinion?
