  1. When Frankie was appointed I wasn't inspired, it seemed to me at the time to be the cheap option after Al came in to the club, got all excited and spunked his load within the first few months of his tenure, like a kid in a sweetshop. I have never got on Bunns back though. Ultimately we have cut whats left of the cloth, which has now (slowly, slowly) become a rag. Lack of quality and squad depth will cost us any shot at the playoffs. Just hope he doesn't appoint from within.. the cynic in me says he will.

  2. Cardiff at Everton on the same day, same kick off, my guess is they wanted to keep us back as long as possible to avoid any potential confrontation between fans in the centre or at the station.

If there was going to be any bother keeping us back would have caused, it, thought our fans were pretty restrained under the circumstances.

Definitely not the reason, but undoubtedly an unhelpful factor..

After the years of shit we have to endure I think our fans deserve a medal. I didn't hear any boo's until the end other than for the ref. End of the match maybe but that's after the game so fans are entited to voice their opinions after watching that dross.

  4. We will probably pay the wages with the Carlisle gate receipts, if that covers it... Abdullah will then rename another stand or put in a new urinal in an attempt to appease the fans. Wonder if this explains why we always capitulate around Chrimbo. Two words.. Shambolic Travesty.

    Different league like...

You referred to bottom 8 budget, I presume in this division? Anyhow, Budgets are irrelevant if you employ the correct personnel. In any walk of life you can be successful with good teamwork, ethic and the right character, Rhodes and Bunn have that in abundance and this will rub off on the players. If anything disparity in wages creates dis-harmony in the camp. Don't get me wrong the guy had quality, but hes gone now so onwards and upwards. He was mates with Gerrard so he must have some flaws in his character ?

  6. Just having a read of Simon's Boardroom programme notes from Saturday, page 43. The last few paragraphs refer to 'special visitor' to the game, 'Gareth Chopper Hopkins'

Has anyone else heard of him? I don't recall such a player forming a lethal partnership with the likes of Aldridge, Barnes and Beardsley?!

The most bizarre story I've ever read.... can anyone shed some light on this? He was also signed on trial at 31 years old by my calculations... Kenny Dalglsih scouting at the Warwick and District cup semi final.. really?!

    Gareth Chopper Harkins maybe!

  7. Having been one to voice my displeasure at recent events, credit where credits due tonight, to a man we were fantastic. I'm glad I took up the offer and very much looking forward to Saturday. For me Erwin ran himself in to the ground and Reckfords commitment to the cause was great to see. Cracking effort roll on Saturday!

  8. After travelling to Millwall the excuses were its a new team, they are favourites for promotion etc etc it will take time to bed in.... I knew then on the train back as I know now it wasn't and isn't going to get any better, it simply gets worse every year. There comes a point when it wears you down so much you just come to accept mediocrity. Until something dramatically changes within the club and whom ever is pulling the strings we are destined to continue down this route. If we were savy in what we do on and off the pitch attendances would rise, it isn't rocket science, people WILL pay to be entertained. Not one home win is simply unacceptable. I respect those who turn up week in week out and deserve better as I have done in the past, but the sheer dross that has been served up of late has kept me away from the majority of games for the first time in 30yrs as Latics fan. Why organise a night with Stitch after a local away derby? The computer glitch thanking me for booking hospitality. Simon Corney wouldnt have to be seen to be paying the players wages.... if we had a half decent product on the pitch! Just a few snippets of unprofessionalism from within the club of late. We are paying the price for not learning from past mistakes, taking gambles on rookie managers leaving it all the transfers until the last minute, not paying a half decent striker to score goals, and having a surplus of strikers who couldnt hit a barn door. On and off the pitch the club is disjointed, the heirachy is simply out of touch with the fans. Sad times.

  9. Millwall didn't pull up any trees today and they didn't need to we gifted them goals, for anyone to quote posession stats is delusional. A team who is comfortably winning against such poor opposition when 2 or 3 up are happy so sit in and let the opposition pass the ball along the back four. What did we expect? Throwing a bunch of strangers together with a few weeks to go? oh but the club may have saved a few quid on wages over the summer, probably to cover the money paid back to the fans for the last years end of season home wins. Yet again the fans are being mugged off. In some respects, although it pains me to say it, getting beat today might mean we bring in some quality. Wouldn't hold my breath though.
