Came highly recommended from David Eyres and he should know all about left wingers.

I feel Walker has been used badly by MM and needs a run in the team in his best position, which is not where he was played at Dagenham.

That's all very true @BP1960, and 45 minutes or so isn't enough to form a reliable opinion on a player.

I did mean that we should have let him go out on loan even if just for a percentage of his wages, rather than keep him and pay 100%!

Saying that, I am a little puzzled as to why he's been totally frozen out. I can understand some of the other decisions... Reid - discipline, Nuttall and Willoughby - wanted different types of strikers. Shelton struggled but given midfield and rwb have been such massive problems I'm surprised he's not been considered at all.

I thought he was our MotM in the away game v. Borehamwood. Admittedly a low bar but I always thought it was confidence with him and there was a NL player in there.

  3. Walker was very, very weak defensively when he played RM/RW v. Dagenham, remniscent of Ben Tollitt. I thought he was lucky not to get pulled at HT. His defensive weakness will militate against him being considered for selection anywhere but the frontline. Even in a 433 I would imagine he would be expected to tuck into a 451 when out of possession.

So unfortunately, despite his potential going forward it is very difficult to pick him in a league as competitive as ours.

They should have continued to look until they found one or put it out to all these contact we are in the market for one.

Freeman should have been the one but his heart wasn't in it.

One of the priorities for me in the summer.

Close to number one, six players used at RB this season, years since we last had a competent player in the position.

    Things that need sorting.

    A right back.

    Competition for Kitch.

    Signing some wingers.

Having a consistent style of play.

Playing to a tempo for 90 minutes.

Passing to a team mate 10 yards away.

    Things that don’t need sorting.

Identifying our top goal scorer as a major issue.

Good list. I'd add pace. When Green starts it stretches the opposition, creates space for team mates and put doubt into the minds of the opposition. Hammond is noticeably quicker than any of our other midfielders and it's really, really useful.

And athletes, players that can get up and down, not enough runners in the current squad.

Just watched the highlights. Think the criticism of Norwood’s header chance is harsh. Keeper does well to save it.

There’s a moment when we have a 3 on 2 break with Dallas leading the charge. He has Walker to his left and Norwood to his right. If Dallas runs with the ball and commits defenders, he can slip in a teammate or have a clear chance himself. Instead, he shits himself and plays a terrible pass to Norwood forcing him ridiculously wide. It’s moments like that where we need to show much better composure and decision making.

Norwood was also just behind Fondop for his late chance. Reckon he would’ve smashed it home if Mikey wasn’t there. His reaction after the ball was cleared looked like a man who clearly cared and was very frustrated.

Dallas did my nut in on Saturday with his sloppy passing as described above.

I was looking through some previous messages I had with a footballer who has played a considerable amount of games in the championship. We discussed Norwood in August he said he can’t score if nobody is feeding him. Think he’s bang on with that.

That was my main reflection on Saturday's performance, we create so few chances so Norwood's almost our main creative talent in addition to our main goal scoring threat. We really miss Green within this particular group. I'm still hopeful that Conlon will improve with games under the belt, but that might be for next season. Saturday was a hard watch.

Interesting challenge tonight. Naively, I'm looking forward to it.

Predicting Garner to completely outsmart the big lumps.

I am hoping they will underestimate us after absolutely bossing us at there place. Equally hoping that Micky Mellon's Oldham will be so much more competitive than we were in Unsworth's last game in charge. Feel like we owe them, they took the p1ss at their place.

This is a bad idea - get it on the deck and play in behind Webster

I'm not saying lump it up top to Big Mike, I am saying we need his physicality so the well directed long ball remains an option, and also to just put some wear and tear on their defenders before Nors is introduced to finish the job. I suspect Norwood isn't ready for 90 minutes yet so probably a largely academic discussion.

    Just had a look.

We’ve played 8 games since he’s arrived and he’s made 4 sub appearances. (All in the second half)

Two early appearances against Woking at home and Ebbsfleet away.

I think you’re right about him picking up a knock, because there is a gap after that.

Then two more sub appearances against Kiddy and Eastleigh.

So either side of the knock he’s not done enough for a start. (And to be honest I’ve watched of those 3 games and couldn’t remember him playing. . 😂

Mellon reported Dallas as being clogged when through on goal in that practice game we played against Man Utd U21 a few weeks back when we went 10-14 days without a game.

  11. They are a big strong team but it would be a mistake to think they're devoid of skill. Although I don't want to see hoof ball I think Fondop has to start to at least allow for targeted long balls into the front two and his arial presence will be useful in our own box too. If we don't play Mike then anything pumped long will just come straight back at us, Webster et al are monsters in the air. Aim has to be play through the lines but Fondop can do that too, unleash Norwood in the second half.
