Waiting for news of a press conference @BP.

    Impatiently i might add...

If that was going to happen, wouldn't the press already know about it?

I suspect that any takeover/ investment will of the scale of Mike Newton joining the board of directors for a short time & a kickabout in training with any signings coming from the pool of trialists (so not needing to be made today).

Correct, 20K for the 10yo and a further 20K if he signs at U12 level. Plus schooling at St. Bedes I heard.

Not sure on the details of the U12 kid, but heard 40K with extra's

Same figures that I heard (all around the same time as we were being offered less for the club captain by Scunthorpe).

In fact, do those new rules mean we just have to let a Premier League club have them for a pre determined fee?

That's how it's set out to work but then I believe that we sold a couple of players (from u10/u12 level) last season for tens of thousands which is more than we'd be entitled to according to the rules. (Source: Parents of other kids at the club who had been told by coaching staff)

Have you checked out his reactions in the video?

There are several videos of my 10 year old lad on YouTube that make him look better than Lev Yashin when, in all likelihood, he may not be. It's very easy to throw a package of 'best bits' together these days - he can even make them himself.

  5. Looking at the remaining fixtures we have probably the most difficult run in of all the teams around us.

Reckon we need 5 wins but struggling to see where we would get them due to lack of goals , dont want to be going to wimbledon final game needing a point or three !!!!

I don't see why we shouldn't be able to to beat any of the teams we have to play. They're all League One teams and more than capable of serving up dross.

  6. Goram - absolutely stunned to find that not only is he not top of some lists but actually not even on some lists! How young are the people on this forum? If he had not sold out to the Scottish team I have no doubt he would have played for England. Yes he was that good and if his drinking and gambling could have been kept under control he could have been reached a Banks \ Ray Clemence status level.

Agree. In his pomp (albeit when he'd moved on), he was one of the best in the world, never mind the country. Whilst he was here, he made remarkable stops on a regular basis & won us many points in the process.

Ripley has been fantastic for us & without him, we'd be cut adrift so he's definitely one of the best we've had but I think any talk of full England caps is a bit much. Although it's improved a bit since the season started, his distribution isn't anywhere near what's required at that kind of level & at 24, there's no pathway to him to integrate into the setup against the other options.

  7. Did wonder what MK did with the "big story".

Potentially still working on it I suppose...

Pretty sure the comment was more of a rebuke/ threat after what the OAFC statement had insinuated about him. I doubt very much that an article on Brassbank would be interesting enough to spend any time on (especially given that Ian Herberts(?) already wrote one on our demise a few months ago).

  8. The noise greeting Ngoo coming on to the pitch is without a shadow of a doubt racist....non malicious but nevertheless racist

Even as one of the most lefty, liberal, Remainer snowflakes I know (that has felt very uncomfortable with 'Oooh Roger Palmer' when directed at stewards, etc), even I think that's a madness.

The noise is in line same as what Joe Root & Luke Donald get when they make an appearance. Surely Ngoo gets that privilege because of his fairly standout athletic style which makes it a bit of event when he's coming on & the direct opposite emotion to that when Paul Green and Ollie 'sodding' Banks do the same.

  9. You could see yesterday that McLaughlin wasn't sure where to position himself at times but the finish was a confident one. If if just gets himself within 10 yards of Holloway to Ngoo when they're battling in the air he might get himself a few more chances. Pretty sure Kevin Philips was a converted full back who went on to do well.

  10. Yep. Thought he'd got it wrong at the time, but had Ngoo had to play 70 mins, he'd have probably died.

Ngoo's awkwardness won it in the end and it was a great illustration of what Holloway provides. Agree with the quoted post. I couldn't fathom bringing Green on (unless he thought they were skipping through our midfield too easily) but Ngoo was ready to be subbed after his 20 minutes of mayhem.

  11. In the game against Peterborough, Holloway was clearly a little rusty having not played regular football for some time but having spent the first half of the season watching Erwin & McKay fanny about the pitch, he was several time more effective than those two immediately. He wins things high up the pitch (which not many others seem to be able to do) and can use the ball (which not many others seem to be able to do).

  12. I'd like to recognise Paul Green. Outstanding when he came on. Has to play instead of Flynn, especially away from home.

He did well yesterday but lost points from me for trying to usher supporters off the pitch instead of encouraging them to carry the team out of the stadium like at the end of Escape To Victory.
