  1. Cheers O4U. Oldham had a few shots and worked well for each other. Periods of play were tit for tat but Latics certainly wanted it more. Was hoping that Walsall would use the ball better in the second half but our crossing was woeful. Walsall resorting to hoofing the ball forward with your tall centre back easily winning most was a one-way ticket to boredom. The 150 or so visiting fans made them selves heard on occasions and were rewarded accordingly. Walsall booed off at the end and rightly so.
  2. Oldham deserved their win-only surprise it wasn't by a bigger scoreline tbh.Latics defence coped very well with what little Walsall offered. Your men were lining up on the left to slot home for the goal. Could have been any one from 3 or 4. That was a vile performance by Saddlers. Shockingly poor and clueless.Ruben foolish to slot the ball into the empty net after the whistle had been blown and a needless booking for him.
  3. Beardy- Dow be saft. We dow spake funny in Worsul! Yo'm a kiddin me mucka! Tek care me mon.
  4. Walsall have signed pacey winger David Martin, 26, on a month's loan from Derby and can play tonight. His previous clubs include Millwall and Crystal Palace. Hope those who travelled down have a good evening and a safe journey back home.
  5. Hi Mate.

Thanks for having me added as a friend. Great site and posters. Regards . Dave.

  6. The article has been released this morning and is included in the link provided. OAFC PROZAC- Your contribution arrived after the site admin edited the article but as you will see from the enclosed link I have cut and pasted your excellent reply so at least the many Walsall fans who like to read this feature will have seen your comments, mate. http://forum.web-fans.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=13277&p=164189#p164189
  7. Hi RH. Indeed pal. Gerrard and Dann and indeed Danny Fox from the same back four was a hugh blow. On top of that a couple of years previous Matty Fryatt went to Leicester then Hull and Julian Bennett to Forest. All young men with terrific potential. Only last summer Troy Deeney went to Watford. Like yourselves and many others in league one we are just a selling club. Yet they get replaced with free transfer players many of whom you have never heard of. Some quality in your players you listed.
  8. Sly- The potential is there with a new stadium or even a new stand, space permitting. Walsall are lucky in as much as so close to the M6.That huge sign perched on the away fans car park brings in a couple of hundred thousand quid a year. The smaller ones are also money spinners too. The Sunday market has over 200 stalls and an estimated 10,000 turn up week after week. Some years ago it was stated that alone earns £250,000 a year. Corporate and entertainment suites bings in the £'s and December/January around 12,000 seasonal meals are served to a variety of events at about £30 per head five course. So you get some idea of why WFC have had to diversify so much-just to survive. At Fellows Park we had no space for any of that. Good luck to OAFC with any new redevelopments.
  9. Yes that would have been when we got out of the old Third Division in 1987-8. His contract was up and he wanted First division football and signed for West Ham. Didn't really take off for him but had good spells at Leicester, Newcastle, Wolves etc.
  10. LOL... Thre as always been a station at Bescot. When the stadium was built a lot of money was spent to upgrade the stadium with facilities and extension of platforms and was renamed Bescot Stadium Station. This was in 1990.
  11. Ha! What a coincidence! I will be seeing David Kelly in action later today in a charity match.
  12. Yes Bescot Stadium Station is bang slap opposite the away end!
  13. Some good replies there folks. Those early 1990's must have been tremendous. Walsall have never enjoyed such dizzy heights.
  14. With Oldham Athletic's game at Walsall just a few days away, I was wondering if you good people would be able to answer a few questions for me in preparation for the match, and I can take the responses back to our site Walsall Web Fans ( http://walsall.web-fans.com )and our forum by way of a preview to the fixture? Here goes... 1.How do you rate Paul Dickov and his management style? 2.Shefki Kuqi is a proven goalscorer. How do you think his partnership with Ruben Reid will develop? 3.Ruben Reid has already knocked in four penalties for you so far this season. How has his general play been? 4.How do the fans stand on the proposed £20 million move to Failsworth? Would you really want to leave Boundary Park? 5.What sort of relationship do you have with chairman Simon Corney? 6.Who do you see as your rivals? 7.Turning to the Walsall game, do you have any predictions? 8.The early 90's were fantastic years for Oldham. What were the key factors for the decline? 9.What are your views on two former Saddlers in their time at your club, Michael Ricketts and Darren Byfield? 10.And finally, where do you think you will finish in League One this season? Thanks for your time. If you could answer the above or at least some of them I would be most grateful.
