  1. Serious that I'd be happy with Correa, yeah. A look at that list of bookies odds stinks of tired, out dated managers that keep getting jobs because they had one good season 8 years ago, and total novices looking to learn. I don't see Oldham Athletic in its current form being the sort of club you dip your toes in the water without any prior experience. The rest is just me speculating reasons why it could happen which. Feel free to disagree though
  2. That'd be a concern for sure, whether the football league would allow it would be a stumbling block. My only feeling on that is, if he's going to invest and want his own man would clearing that with the relevant bodies be part of the due diligence before investing. Seems a bit stupid that he'd invest, go to hire Correa only to be told he's not allowed too.
  3. I'd take Correa, if he's mates with the new investor I'd like to think he'll back him with funds, he's not getting to leave his mate out to dry. If he can be successful here it may get him a move to a team with greater stature, no doubt Abdallah will make money off him as Correa's agent so it's in his interests to back him financially here. Could be a win win win for all involved.
  4. Originally I was fuming, willing to find another club to support and hand my shirts back to the club in protest. Since then, I've calmed down a bit. I'm still not happy about the whole affair, angry at the board for handling this debacle and putting the fans through a load of :censored: However, I will still support Oldham Athletic*. I won't support Mr Evans even if his conviction is overturned as he seems to be a horrible bloke quite frankly and I'll struggle seeing his name pop up under our score line. But he'll be gone before you know it and the club will rise through this issue. (*although I'll be doing so from overseas as I move to Canada on Tuesday. Luckily not many people over there know where Oldham is so shouldn't be too difficult to side step this whole sorry agenda)
  5. No, but for him to be a rehabilitated member of society that poses no further risk to women he needs to understand how his actions led a jury and a judge to believe he raped someone. If he doesn't realise what he did was vile and disgusting (whether you think he raped the girl or not, surely you can't deny his actions were pretty disgusting?) then he hasn't learnt one jot from the whole ordeal. He can still maintain he's innocent and proceed with his appeal but he needs to show an understanding of why his actions were wrong. He hasn't done that so he hasn't been rehabilitated and isn't. Yes, he can't control what people write on twitter but distancing himself from it and that ridiculous website, as well as showing some decency towards the victim he will, at least, show that he understands the seriousness of the situation, a situation caused by how he acted
  6. I agree with that but I think that's were the separate verdicts has been formulated from. She went back with Clayton, Evans rocked up later uninvited. Just putting across why I don't buy this "two or none" argument
  7. Ok so first point, is it possible she wanted to go back with Clayton, just Clayton. He was on his own when they got talking and only Clayton and the girl were in the taxi. She was complicit in what happened with him because she was complicit in going to the hotel with him and ONLY HIM. That's probably why Clayton was found not guilty of rape (I say probably, this is how it all looks to me, not accusing) Secondly, as you say, Evans wasn't in the taxi. So he's gone out of his way to go to his mates hotel room and then get involved. He's turned up after without her, and I don't even think, Claytons permission. So he's arrived unannounced and then asked to have sex with someone his mate is already having sex with. That's a bit messed up in my mind. So no, it's not really "two or none," is it?
  8. I read an article earlier that talked about ex convicts and their rehabilitation into society. It mentioned that, for someone to be rehabilitated they had to show an understanding and acceptance of how their actions had led them to their conviction and how their actions were deemed wrong. It didn't specifically say that the convicted had to apologise for what they had done but by showing they understood what it was they had done wrong, they could learn from it and, hopefully, not fall into the same pitfalls that led to their arrest. So for Ched Evans to not even acknowledge that his actions led a jury to believe he had raped someone, even though he doesn't think he has, shows to me he's not learnt anything from the whole episode at all
  9. I appreciate that and neither am I accusing you of anything other than misunderstanding the term "online mob"
  10. I've followed most of this thread most of the day (very sad I know) and I've not seen anyone or can't remember anyone saying anything worse about Evans than that he's disgusting or a disgrace. Having an opinion about someone's actions is different to going out of your way to find that persons online profiles and abusing them, not unlike a lot of Evans' fans have done with the victim. That is an online mob, chasing, hounding and abusing a woman to the point she's had to change her name five times.
  11. Read the article and what people are saying about that woman. That IS an online mob, I agree Saying "I don't want this man to play for my football club because he's a convicted rapist" is not the same as saying, and I'm quoting the article here, "....retreated from the pitchfork-wielding mass keen to rape u n leave aids drippin down ya face, as one person wrote on Twitter." If you can't see the difference then, well, words fail me. If you fail to see the difference
  12. Mob - a large crowd of people, especially one that is disorderly and intent on causing trouble or violence. A lot of people not wanting a convicted rapist to play for their football club is not a mob. They're not intent on causing trouble or violence, quite the opposite. They want non of the trouble Ched Evans brings. It's pissing me off reading this "mob" bollocks So if you can drag your knuckles from the floor to type on your keyboard and voice your "lad culture" opinions on here, you can lift them to grab a dictionary and check what you're writing is accurate
