If the TTA are sick and death of ploughing money in then they can f**k off.... They have appointed three crap managers...is it really that surprising that people are not prepared to declare this a fantastic appointment...

 

Sick and tired of people :censored:ting it over if we hurt their poor feelings....its business and they are here to make money out of us...dont shed to many tears for them...that dosent mean I am not thankful for what they did five years ago...

Lets hope this does not hurt your poor feelings but your attitude stinks and is just the thing to help our our club along to total extinction. I certainly would not shed tears if you were to dissappear from this board after your brainless comments and throwing a mardy because didums didn't get the manager he wanted.

Andy Liddell is a great servant on a day when Dean Windass has shamed the club and Sean Gregan supposedly attacked Taylor I think it shameful to have a go at some one who has helped devlop alot of our young stars, he points because he a great reader of the game and his pointing has helped Eardley over the last couple of seasons.

 

Get off the backs of Sheridan and Liddell it makes us Oldham fans appear idiots when we criticise people who are gueinuly giving their best for the club.

OK - a few hiccups this season but: (in no particular order)

 

1. Shez has NOT lost the dressing room.

2. We have only lost 6 games (2nd only to league leaders)

3. Our players are all working well together.

4. We have a great mix of youth and experience - see 1.

5. All our players have the ability to hit the back of the net - except maybe greeeegs but i think he'll get one soon (and now our striker(s) will start hitting it more often)

6. We have some well deserved extra income from a couple of sky games.

7. TTA are still with us.

8. We are doing well considering the depressing economical effect on many other teams.

9. We ARE going to go up this season

10. We are getting some extra positive publicity from various angles. (charity, great personalities playing for us, sky coverage, more to come)

11. We have been able to offload some extra baggage - sad to see them go but it's better for both parties.

12. Other teams are messing it up. ahahaha Leeds.

13. We're not Leeds.

14. Our fans, although can be harsh at times - WILL ALWAYS BACK OLDHAM

15. We still have our most wanted players even after transfer window.

16. More and more players seem to be doing interviews - which means they are happy

17. Our team WANTS to get out of this leage and I believe will show this more and more in the coming weeks.

18. Shez is starting to mix the formations a lot more during the game.

19. We have started to take advantage of set pieces (about time)

20. We have players pushing for positions. Competition in almost all areas.

21. Players are willing to move about their positions and are showing they can perform anywhere they are needed.

22. Our away following is still one of the best.

23. Shez and team commented on good support last game. (Well done supporters - better than booing, right?)

It crossed my mind that if Taylor went in Jan that an offer might go in to Stoke for Phillips.

I'm not bothered about his singing, can he play football.

Hugh's fitness is debatable and without him there isn't any, what you could call proven experienced strikers.

seems to me there is a question mark over Hugh's ability to stay fit and Ormerod is here to cover that situation.

When it boils down to it the support is missing for all the reasons stated in the poll but the local glory hunters who follow the big boys are the major dissappointment to me.

Getting a bit stupid this... Fact is we played well for 30 mins and bad for 60 mins... Both should be discussed and nither ignored....

Besides if you prefer why not stick to the grumping topic. This was not meant to be a debate. I just fancied hearing from a few fans with something positive to say thanks very much.

I will be interested to see if there are more posts on this topic as opposed to it's alter ego. It could say a lot about our fans.

1, We have a manager hungry for success for himself who has a long history with us and keeps learning and getting better.

2, We have owners who genuinely care about the club and are willing to back it in a sustainable sensible fashion. They to are learning and getting better at it.

3, We will get a new ground eventually despite the opposition and numerous difficulties getting the planning in place.

4, We have a squad of players who took us to eigth place last season despite a crippling injury list still almost completely in place.

5, We have very cleverly augmented to an already fairly successful squad a new mass of potential talent.

6, We now have strength in depth but still have a core of good players who know one another well and have played together for a fair length of time.

7, There is potential revenue from the sale of Micah Richards and possibly another from the squad which used wisely can only improve the clubs situation.

WHY THE HELL CONCENTRATE ON THE NEGATIVES?? EVERY team member will have off days. No big deal. They are human like us and don't always fulfill there potential like every other dam player in this league.

Agree very much with that sentence! Unless Shez works out why we've failed over recent years then he can change the personel all he likes...the same failings will happen. We could have the best squad in this league but without the right players playing and the right style, then it'll fail. And that means fast wings, over-lapping one another, meaning strikers stay in their positions upfront and the midfield can get forward and support. For 18mths, we've not had this and Shez hasn't gone about solving this. Getting in Demar will help...possibly Hills too. And benching a certain player on the right side will too!

 

A line up of the following will do well...

 

GK - Crossley/Fleming

RB - Eardley/Lomax

CB - Hazell

CB - Gregan/Stam - This will be decided on form...poor pre-season from Greegs but he's ahead unless he falters when the real stuff begins

LB - Hills/Lomax - We must sign Hills IMO!

RW - Taylor/Smalley

CM - Maher/Stephens/Lee/Whittaker - Playmaker/Engine

CM - Allott/JPK - Brick wall

LW - Phillips - Short for cover

CF - O'Grady/Davies - Either or with these two...both have a poor first touch and are similar types, so I wouldn't play both together

CF - Hughes/Alessandra/Smalley - 1 of these 3 will compliment well with O'Grady or Davies

 

At present, early doors, from what I've seen pre-season and from how Shez is talking...I don't expect to see Taylor at RW (but Lids) and I also think he'll make the mistake of playing O'Grady and Davies together. And I think all this talk from Shez about starting quickly this time around could all be blown away again by bad early season decisions. Like happened last year with KK coming in on the eve of the season and basically ripping up the pre-season. Or the year before where we ripped up pre-season by playing a midfield diamond...something we'd not practiced once that pre-season.

 

People say give it time and I'm all for it. But Shez has stated this time around that we MUST hit the ground running. That includes Shez too with his decisions or else playing catch up will leave us fighting for the playoffs.

 

At present, if Shez gets the early season wrong (in line-ups and style) then we'll finish 8th-10th. But if Shez proves he's learned and gets it right, straight from the off, I think we've the squad to get promoted or at minimum, the playoffs. Early season will be the key!

Any basic training information on psychology or teaching wil tell you the importance of avoiding stressing the negative aspect of anyones performance who is supposedly being taught to do something but find ways to improve performance by building from the positives in the performance of the individual concerned. It can have a severe effect on their confidence and progress not to use this technique.

It makes you wonder what is said when prospective mamagers take there coaching qualifications and whether they are taught ways to be firm and gain respect without resorting to ranting on a regular basis which the more it is done the more resentment will build up in the receiver of the abuse. It is simple human nature.

Confidence is a major issue for anyone in anything they do. Having said that you can only pick 11 players for a game so the way you approach players who are not in the side is also going to be crucial. I wonder what is really said behind the closed doors of the football club.

Maybe we just see the worst side of our manager during the matches due to his passion for the game.

So what "ridiculous confidence shattering abuse" was he shouting, as it obviously didnt work as we got stronger as the game went on.

 

Its a bit different if Sheridan has a go at the players. He is the manager who is doing a job. This may be one of his techniques to get the best out of them, and he isnt doing too bad a job of it.
