  1. Looking at the video I also thought that he didn't head the ball must - but was I impressed with the way he run at some of the defence and at 6ft 7 was it and built like he is I say what have we got to lose? - I think if anything he will scare the hell out of some defenders and make them panic even if he is put on for the last 10 - 15 minutes let's face it rest of the strikers have not been much cop.

  2. I will say one thing on the subject (and I have been quite for a bit) - I had a right go on this forum when they appointed one Lee Johnson (young, no experience - you are joking etc. etc.) and I ended up eating humble pie - so my view is Darren Kelly I guess you have the qualifications and some experience coaching at a PL Club and the Chairman (who is a good chairman in my view) would have done his due diligence - so good luck to you and welcome to BP - enjoy the ride :-))

  3. To be honest if he goes I think it will be late on the transfer deadline day - if you were a manager you know City want rid of him and if you thought he was worth a punt you would try it on then and put in a smaller bid to see if City were interested (to try and pick him up at a low cost to your club) - if he had not gone before - that is what I would do anyway.

  4. View from my Mate (Villa Fan - with a few connections at the club i.e. mates) on Grealish :-

He’s too good for you…way too good.

He was at Notts County last year and kept them up – We expect him to be either championship loan or maybe even in the first team squad this year.

He said that also due to the owner selling the club and only £10m at the moment to spend on Transfers and wages it would be highly unlikely.

  5. 43 goals in 337 games for Sidibe

2 Goals in 49 games for Gros

Off these ratios charlie mcdonald would have been a better option to stay!

Stats wise for a Striker that is awful - however that Mamady Sidibe looks a huge scary striker - maybe at the right price may be useful for the last 20 mins. if we are chasing a game to get among a defence and cause them some concern but as a possible starter I think we should give him a miss so says my Stoke Supporting Mate.

  6. Two of the best players sold within 6 months? - would really like some one from the club to explain this as well as explaining the long term strategy - been in this league ages and am being to think I will be collecting my pension before we promoted again - surely the idea is to keep the best players and build a sucessful team - not sure I understand it any more?

  7.

he's only had 5 months, could take him 18, massive mistake this, just watch him fire them in now, and before anyone put the SPL down, its as good a standard at League 1 if not better.

Have to disagree there - SPL is rubbish reckon I could score there reckon Rooney will score tonnes - Goodwillie was meant to be brill at Dundee Utd could not score in a brothel for Blackburn.

  8. It's no surprise to me that some people are willing to write-off a player whom they have never seen actually play, on the basis of a YouTube video *all hail YouTube!*. How the hell is a ten minute clip supposed to encapsulate everything about a player? and the second, longer video, does suggest a hint of improvement, plus, he looks as though he has stamina and power to go along with tricky-dicky skills, the likes of which have been missed at BP since the days of Ricky Holden.

The fact that he has moved around a lot says nothing..he is young and it is not unusual (homage to Tom Jones). Young players at Latics' level just cannot win can they? If they stay put, it's because no other club is interested..if they move around, it's because they are crap or trouble makers.

Is nobody going to give Lee Johnson any credit for this signing of what looks to be a potentially good player at League One level??

Well done, Mr. Johnson and welcome to BP Mr. Schmeltz.

I will looks good to me my mate (Villa fan) says after seeing the video reminds he of a poor man's Darius Vassell (pacey with tricks etc.) - the one thing I like the looks of is that LJ is trying to inject pace into the attack with the first 3 signing - defenders will hate this and i think it is good to see as will be able to counter better and take advantage of other team mistake better which we have been too slow to do - also fair play LJ looking far a field to find good players - previous managers would not have been that creative I feel.

  9. For me no - if we want to have a good season (first time for a bit) and trying to get out of the division we need to keep our best players.

Need Money - yes but success should bring more crowds and possible we could get another good cup run.

It is a risk as things may not work out - however if we do sell our best player every time we will never progress so Jose has to stay.

  10. I thought he had a decent season.

But I'm pretty much at the "meh" stage with all of them. Let LJ build what he can.

First time I've ever been happy with the idea of wholesale changes.

Agree with you on this one - also first time in a long time I think we have a manager that not only can spot and bring in better quailty player if they go but has a system / plan that he is working on so I for once in many year will have a stress free off season.

  11. No less than a million for Baxter. They'll have to spend that kind of money on a couple of players to make sure they're equipped for the Championship. If Dickov rates him then he's worth it.

It's beyond the 'he's a gamble' phase and if Everton had have sold him before his contract expired they'd have got more than that. We hold all the cards and with another good season his value's only going to increase. He's on the radar of other clubs now but with another good season, or even come January, there are likely to be more and more firm offers. Game time is only going to show other clubs any previous troubles are behind him.

The only way we can come off worse is if his career goes tits up which I can't see. No reason to sell unless there's silly money involved. Even with a million bid it wouldn't be the worst risk in the world holding on, the more clubs see he's playing and playing well the likelier there's a chance of a bidding war.

Even without all this, he's our best player, proved himself to be a good pro and offers us the slimmest of chances of getting out this division. He likes it here, he's liked by us. If he really wants to go to Donny (a step up lower than he's likely to be offered in the future) they should be digging deep.

Agreed we hold all the cards on this regarding contracts and if Dickov wants him I would bleed him and Donny dry because I would suggest that 1m with add on is the minimum and reckon we could really hold out for more than that as I think Dickov would push the boat out to get him and if the majority is put into squad building I believe that LJ could sign a few decent players with that (maybe I am to positive but either way we win if he leaves or stays).

  12. I went to Exeter 2 years ago when they beat us 2-0 and cureton ripped us to peices

    Sure he would help Clarke-Harris

The likes of croft, JYM etc are more likely to star after signings

Agree with this - young pacey striker playing off an experience one to pick up knock downs etc. etc. and one that who has score every where he has gone - makes sense to me.

  13. 1) No decent tackling allow (it's a f**king contact sport for god sake) - if it is a good tackle that takes the ball who cares it you use two feet.

    2) Plastic Fans who know nothing about the game but think they do.

    3) Rubbish Pundits and Footbal programmes (Football focus / Soccer Saturday there are other leagues than just the PL in England you know - balanced coverage please).

    4) lack of Characters in the game (people like Clough, Marsh, Hudson, Best etc. now they have all been given Media training to say the right thing and all nice to everyone for once say it as it is if you think the guy / team is a c**t then say it).

    5) My Biggest issues - how can teams in the ENGLISH PL be allow to field a team of all Non - English Players, bloody madness - if this carried on soon the National Team will be as good as Scotland.
