  1. Kenny Clements

    Paul Futcher

Paul Futcher got called into the England squad and may have even played a friendly game for England - all based on his form for Latics

So why has he got so few votes?

Strewth we have had some classy centre halves over the years

I went for Barrett and Jobbo - but the mention of Clements and Futcher take me back to when I first watched Latics (and defender were allowed to tackle people at that time) - Clements in fact was my first big Latics hero him and Roger Palmer :-))

  2. With World Cup qualifiers coming up what do people think the best world cup was (Overall footbal and entertainment - not just 1966 because we won).

The one I enjoyed the most was Mexico 86 - Denmark 5 Spain 1 (Landrup), USSR - had a player I think called Rats, Maradonna at his best before he became a cheating c**t, and best final I have seen in a world cup Argentina 3 Germany 2).

Only down side was the Mad German Keeper Schumacher and his challenge on the French guy that would now days see him banned for a least 6 months (two footed challenge he nearly killed him).

  3. Think its been pretty obvious to most fans that we are not as fit as should be .

Been saying so all season especially when average teams come to BP and outrun us and walk away with 3 points without much skill.

This is probably the main factor why so many late goals conceded as well.

Tiredness lead to loss of concentration.

Great to see a clean sheet last night.

Most sides in this division have a very high work rate and the difference is that little bit of skill in particular players.

We have that skill to match just not the workrate which hopefully Lee will address.

Also great to see the upbeat tempo and pressing their back line something not seen since PD early days.

Hopefully this time it will get better and last longer.

When Lee was first appointed my first reaction was

"What on earth are we doing , league 2 here we come"

I know its very early days but the more i read , see and hear from him coupled with last nights first run out it has certainly changed my mind .

I can fully understand given the sort of interview he must have done as to why SC just couldn't ignore him.

Maybe , just maybe it might prove the sort of manager to take Latics on to bigger and better things.

Certainly can't do any worse than the past 5 or 6 that have seen us stand still.

Good Luck Lee and hopefully last night is the first of many more entertaining performances that ultimately lead to better crowds at BP.

Have to agree first thought was oh F**king hell who?? - but the more I find out about the badges and his views etc. - I may have been a bit quick off the mark - may have found the right man at last.

  4. thats the risk, but i'd trust Corney not to appoint someone who hasn't given him a clear vision of how he'll get us out of the mess. no-one seems to be giving him a chance on here, when we need to get behind the team and get the points we should have done a long time ago.

Dickov gave him a clear view - all interviewees would give him a clear view no one goes into any interview and sits there with no idea of what they would do - as for trusting SC understands that it is his club and he has the right to appoint who he wants (I think he has been great for the club) just ask yourself what his track record is with the appointment of managers - maybe a more footballing person like Big Joe should be making appointments like this.

It is a huge risk - can we afford this in the current situation we are in now?

  5. can i ask why?

we don't know what his approach will be, who his staff will be, what his plans are, what his contract is etc. you say 'through thick and thin', surely if you're opposed this is a 'thin' time, yet you say that's it?

Basically I not against the guy - no experience that is my issue I think it is totally not right to get some one like this in when we are really in a big mess and say get us out of it and I don't think it fair on him or the fans and didn't work out too well for Dickov and he had top level playing experience and connection - I think if this was done at the end of the season I woud not react like this as the guy would have pre - season to get to know the players work on system gain a bit of knowledge / experience.

I know everyone has to start some where but alot of managers have been through coaching job lower down and gained experience I for one would not expect me to become CEO at Barclays just because I gave a good interview (also PD impress in his interview and look at the record he had).

I do not expect us to win cups and league I think I am realistic (in fact for last few season just wanted us not to go down and I see that as a good season) but the club has been on the slide for many years now and it is hard to find any hope to cling on to.

I don't think that this will help the club in any way I will be happy to have his dad and him as the assistant - i'm struggling to see how this takes the club forward.

A lot of my mate are glory hunters and support Utd or City - I went first in 1979 and have been true since then - I just don't know what the strategy is to get us where we need to be and that is difficult for me to accept.

  6. But does he want the job, even until the end of the season?

TP stated before Dickov's departure that SC needed to get the coaching team sorted ASAP because of how stretched they were.

Do you think Murray / Cliff B would be interested - taking on the youth while TP works his magic with the first team? - Give TP the job till the end of the season he may grow to love it and also who knows the team / club better than him - and no excuses or spin from him totally honest and top bloke.

  7. Agree to disagree on that!

Which one the Villa part or leaving Forest with no dent on his reputation? - once they had gone through a few more managers like Chelsea think most will be blaming the Chairman and manger like him (average not great) would always get some thing based on his record at Rangers, Birmingham, Scotland and yes Villa (especially if they go down the job that he did was Ok - however my mate the Villa fan does not agree still thinks he is a f**king W**ker but I think that is based more on the ex - Birmingham thing).

  8. Basically if he is to stay then he needs a expericenced Assistant - not one of his mates or a yes man - some one who will put him right on the tatics - some one that when things need changes tells him and some one he respects and he will follow so maybe an ex manager of his.

(I admit I am one of the those that think he has had enough time and this is now his team his signings - so he has no excuses for the results - even after yesterday).

  9. Jesus - because he can work Miracles and we could do with one of those about now :-)).

I think he is a Spainish Manager Jesus Miracles.

Or Jose Mourinho - I would then be all to happy to call him the Special One - it's easy managing Porto, Chelsea and Real Madrid - if you want a really challenge come here and then we will see how special you are mate.
