  1. Here's hoping he has a great game on Saturday - always said that I felt that this guy could make it and this season performance I think anyway much improved would love to see what he could do with a extend run in the team reckon he would scare many of the defenders in this league.

  2. Sorry even if we get 6 points from 6 and a cup run is any thing really going to change - we have been having threads like this for the last year and an half - if we win two games and the cup games does anything really change? - if a company is having a bad time the textbooks will always show you that the first act is to get rid of the exisiting mangement and get some one new in with fresh and with new ideas.

PD has had more time than most managers would and results really have not in the end been good enough and it is a results business - Chairman is a top bloke who has backed him and I admire him for the loyaltly that has been shown but it is time for a change if nothing is happen.

I like PD and did think he would be a top manager but maybe we should have gone for more experience and let PD learn his trade in non - League it was a bold gamble to chose a ex - player with no previous management experience but I don't think it has worked.

But judging by my record on FIFA Manager what do I know.

  3. I think it would be a case of us having nothing to lose by changing managers. Then again if Phil Brown is being mooted as a replacement then we'd have a LOT to lose!

Also have to agree I like what he is trying to do but same old mistakes and same old excuses - do we get rid or do we hire a director of football (Big Joe?) - to teach and advise - think it may be a case of see what you can do until end of September and if it still is not working a new approach is needed - do like PD and what he wishes to try and do but same old same old things keep happening for too long does not seem to learn from it at some time you have to cut your losses.

  4. For God sake, cut everyone some slack, there were some really promising signs tonight - we scored two great goals - looked threatening all game, it's just we got caught by inexperience at the back, but Tarky will keep learning. Overall I think that was promising, the mane worry is how thin our squad is

Agreed good signs in first half - everyone really postive pre - season then one disappointing second half and all the doom mongers are back out again - let's see what Saturday brings eh.

Please see the above link, I made an offer to pay for a lads season ticket and it appears that others would do this as well

Now I live 2.5 hours away from Oldham but can anyone think of maybe a football club, school, youth center, disabilty centre that we could donate as many kids ST tickets to as possible?

If anyone would like to donate maybe we could all put our names down on here and send the money via paypal to someone reliable on here or playshare even with a reference of kids season tickets

I would love to make a kids day and maybe even grow our fans base even if its just because of Chaddy Owl

Maybe we can donate what we can afford in terms of if you can only afford £1 it would be a massive help

Any intrested please post below and any volenteers to collect money I would happily do it but think it should be done by one of the MODS as dont want put people off donating as may not know me

    Thanks

    Deano

I'm in - give us details of where to send the money to.

  6. Only trouble with this is they may be in the market for the same striker as us

I hope not and don't think so - probably knowing them will just replace like with like a big donkey of a centre forward to get on the end of crosses PD would be looking for better than that judging by the style he hopes to play - quick / skillfull and a bit younger and will get better and think he will get this with his with his connections - but judging by my predictions recently you could be right Singe.

  7. Nearly ten years as well at the club not bad commitment really.

Not Bad - pulled us out of the fire - almost 10 years at a club - must be losing money - honest and upfront - will never win with the fans until he delivers the treble.

All Respect to Simon - couldn't hope for a better chairman (unless of course is that Arab Sheikh YourMoneyMaker).

    Deserves the credit.

  8. ive been going 20 odd years +

i dont expect anything, except for the club to be run properly so that i can still be going in 20 years +

if that means when a big club comes to town in friendly, league, cup, testiomonial thay add a fiver to the price

    then so be it!

why do Latics fans expect something all the time? they put on offers each season, the club are open with the fans (far more than other clubs)

they are always trying to do the best for the fans aswell as the club itself - it must be a nightmare balancing act

whatever they do they never seem to be able to win.

Well said - really stupid thread - we support the team go if you can and wish to, don't go if you can't but do not start this BS - club puts on a decent friendly with possible Euro star and hope that new fans may come through the gates due to it and hope that they may come back (bigger picture) - even if one does it's a start, then muppets start to bitch and moan about a small price increase and possible boycott - get behind the club and please don't post stupid things like this (if you would like Rangers fans are talking about boycotts how about joining them).

  9. No - from me on so many level including the bad attuide, being paid possibly so much more than others may have a issue with the rest of the team (evem if is just a rumor re. £5k a week.).

Surely PD wanted players to come here to run through brick walls - give into these demands it is the other way round isn't it - suggest he wants to come here if the money is at the highest first - not to acheive which is against the image I got from the other signings.

Surely he and is agent knows he can't be picky due to the Bad attiude and image and the fact that there are a surplus of players (good and bad) on the market - case of supply and demand.

Preston surely are looking for a striker :-))

  10. We have lost a comic Genius and a Legend - made everyone laugh and never failed to so in a age when you did not have to use Rude words or insult everyone just to get a cheap laugh - very sad day for the people of Oldham and the people of this Island - RIP Eric like I said a comic legend.

  11. To be honest - I Thank Kuqi for his goal - but why spend the money on older experinced player - which Kuqi was and he either ran out of puff or motivation second half of the season.

Would rather have the younger strikers like Smith and Taylor (People like that) up front who have energy and need to prove themselves and will but the effort in.

Buying a Older Striker does not always work (Feeney, Ricketts etc.) - let's face it works for Crewe.

  12. I agree with laticdickovarmy To be honest big credit goes to the chairman and Paul Dickov - I am totally sure that Simpson and Wes etc. had better offers (quality players at this level) - I have questioned the managers tatics and management style a few times especially towards the end of both seasons but in my mind he has both the connections / drive to get the players with skills he wants and sell this club to any players he feels he needs and yes you will not win them all in the transfer market but I bet he will win most and that is a bit of a edge.

I will go as far as I did today at work and say that with more experience and knowledge I predict that Paul Dickov with the drive that he has will end up as a young up and coming manager in the EPL within 5 - 10 years - yes probably without us.

We moan yes - but it is because we care passionly about this club and wnat the best we can for it - but I think we have a dynamic team at the top.

With a few more top notch signing I believe that we will have a quailty first team (barring injuries) that will give anyone a run.

Mid - Table great but with a little luck so much more.

Also lets be postive so much better than dire spells under Talbot, Moore, Penny etc.
