I love this new breed of Corbynite that uses the word "gammon"

Same sort that uses cringe-worthy phrases as "melt" "banter" and "scored a worldy" 🙄

Not a fan of JC myself big lad.

I think the language you quote is usually used by the younger generation. Suprised you don't like it's use.

Until the club becomes self sufficient (a long way off) I'd expect there to be a limited amount of money to which it's paying the most important before others get paid. Happens in a lot of businesses. Someone, somewhere is always going to be caught up in that. As long as the debts are heading the right way (down, not up) then it should be seen as a positive. Not having trips to court is the only indication we currently have that things have improved (even if on the field isn't greatly improving so far.)

As for if that is happening with the debts, you will see elsewhere that I fully support the calls for more disclosure over the club accounts. Over to Darren & the Trust et al.

Seems like the landlord wants the rent paying now. I'd guess they may have moved into the VIP payment list in the last month or so. Hopefully behind peoples pensions, what with that being illegal.

Not sure AL is even trying to become self sufficient when he is cutting off one of the clubs bigger match day revenue streams. He does not make smart business moves that suggest he really knows the business side of things that is so essential. Some of his PR is terrible.

If the FLG can get this income from the stadium to the levels they talk about the club could very well become self sufficient. Given AL has neither the ambition or finance to own the stadium (lol when he pretended he didn't know he'd not bought the ground but had already confirmed he hadn't in his first interview) then the only way to unite the club and the ground is for him and his highest paid employee, sorry brother, to go back to the football agent business.

I can get people not trusting the FLG, really can. No idea who they are bar the 3 life long latics fans so until that is confirmed I can see some will be suspicious, I see the odd bit of jealously on twitter, particularly from other sponsors / business people mind. Once they come clean with who they are then people can really start to back them.

I cannot get how people can back a Moroccan football agent who has seen us relegated, filled the squad with horseshit, sacked respected and loyal staff, treated those that remain with contempt, employed his brother to overrule managers and will not even engage with the new group of fans running the stadium. I cannot see one positive from his tenure, bar perhaps Nepo. Yes the wages issue seems to have calmed down but that will have been helped by the cup run so I would expect us to have been ok on that front. We still since then have released laughable 12 month old accounts and been removed by the credit agency.

If he can clarify that he has paid off debts then I would applaud him, really would. His plan of bring in talent to showcase here is not working and he does not have the finances to change that plan. This is the worse squad we have had for 30 years and is a real contender to be relegated yet they talk of promotion. It is all bullshit to me.

I really fear the club will be screwed financially even when he goes as his boys get 2 or 3 year deals that do not reflect their talent or the clubs monetary situation. This is why I am glad that whatever division we are in when he goes (I believe he will be gone in 12 months time) the main assets of the club, the ground, will be in the hands of people who love OAFC.

To quote Craig Davies (a 2 time player and someone who would walk into our current side) "“With all the good at the club, I wish it well in an unclear future because I can honestly say in the 14 years I’ve been a professional footballer, I’ve never worked for someone that thinks it’s acceptable to treat his staff and players in such a bad way,”

Also we don't know that he has oaid off debts. What if TTA wrote off monies due to them when AL bought the club.At this point we don't know how the debt has been reduced.

That is almost certainly the case in terms of TTA finding someone daft enough to take on the club. The rumoured wages of some players makes me certain the next accounts won't be so pretty.

  4. Can people please stop saying he's reduced the debt. The edited and unchecked accounts you are working off are over 12 months old. Since then we've gone down, sacked several staff, paid off players, paid off potential unfair dismissal claims, lost our credit ability, pension issue and lost revenue from the North stand. There is not telling how much debt is attached to the club now.

You do however have to sympathise with Marco when the FLG put out their bowl and ask for more making less available to run the football club.

Eh? He bought the club knowing he didn't own the stand would have to rent it? Why is this an issue now? He has magically cleared so much debt a 4% increase in rent should be more than affordable.

As far as I know, it was open. The club just didn't choose to use the seating.

The question is ( and I really don't know the figures) if after rent the club made no or little money from the fans that use that stand, should AL use it?

He bought the club knowing the cost of the rent, he has just not been too good at paying it. New (to be confirmed) landlords want the rent paying promptly. The blame is entirely his.

Given we could afford a tour of Morocco I am sure we can afford the rent on the stand for some time.

  7. If AL doesn't pay his rent then he will end up owing the owners of the North Stand money. It seems the FLG will be enforcing this rent more readily than the previous / current owner. I believe they may be wanting to call in already owed rent if such sums exist, certainly enough reading on here about that and the need for GE's fee to come in asap.

If he owes enough he may have to hand over assets to cover his debts as any of us would. We may hand over our Ford Fiesta ST, he may have to hand over his UK based assets.

I'm going with that as the plan from the FLG.

All AL has to do his pay his bills and run the club well and everyone will be happy..............................

IF someone owned the club and the stadium the club really would benefit from the stand 365 as stated when it was being built. I could get a gym membership knowing 100% that in some way OAFC were benefiting.

If the owners of the stadium become the owners of the club it will be a massive benefit to the Latics and the fans. Many clubs with worse revenues do better than us and this may change things slightly for the better.

Without question the fattest player I have seen play for us. No self respect and no respect for the people paying his wages.

Not as fat as Lee Croft at Mossley pre season. No chance but yes Dunn didn't come fit. If he was fit and playing how would we have got him?

I'd rather have an owner taking a punt on an unfit Dunn or Baxter over Syla or Omrani.

Have you seen him play ?

I'm quietly impressed with him but perhaps my standards aren't as exacting as yours.

I'm pretty confident he will progress.

I have seen him play yes. Not very good. I'm pretty confident he'll progress to the Bulgarian 3rd division when his contract ends.

What if he signed a grossly unfit egotistical WASTEMAN?

Googled the slang so I can respond.

Dunn was worth a punt and many thought / think he could have done a good job once fit. Talent wise he was miles ahead of what we had. Shame we won't know as he clearly wanted the managers job.

Our current owner is signing people he knows like Vera and Syla who are nowhere near the standard.

I'd say those people who don't see the harm either don't understand what a winning team looks like or have completely forgot what one even feels like.

I'm not blaming them for our failings but a symptom of what has happened to the club over the last 25 years that people will accept that we will sign players such as Vera, Menig, Omrani, Sefil, Moimbe and to a slightly lesser extent Branger, Maouche, and Sylla (how much have we pissed up the wall on salaries between that lot) because this is what we should expect.

Also this constant influx of staff and players closely linked to the owner is bound to lead to splits in the camp. As we have no money we will need a real solid unit to move forward.

Having players reporting over the managers head to the owner, problems with wages and staff being laid off we are not going to get a tight in it together group. That's why we ended up going down and that is why we will be struggling again this season.

There is not a single person in that club who will challenge the owner. He's removed all the staff with power and he has released the only leader in the squad.

Polite reminder that Corney and Shitpeas combined with a fan literally signed Kelly's replacement behind Kelly's back.

Signing players without the knowledge of the manager is not new to Latics since AL came to power.

Ex premier league established top level player David Dunn? Should AL sign anyone with that sort of background I will happily give him £1000 for a season ticket.

He was a cult hero. Shouldn't have been near the side really but was well liked because he was a grafter.

"it got me thinking; whose the best 3 players you’ve seen in a latics shirt in the last 25 years?"

A bin man who tried hard and was fired off 13 months into his spell with us. No one would pick him in a top 50 him had he not died.

Lee Duxbury, Fitz Hall, Clint Hill, Pogs, Eyres, Sheridan. I think all these players played at a similar time.

I can see your point, subtle as it is not, but Ernie was very fondly thought of by Latics fans even after he’d left the club and before his diagnosis. He made a big impact in the aftermath of Chris Moore’s exit.

His impact any greater than say Paul Murray at that time? I seem to recall seeing a piece and he was buying the lads lunches. Proper footballer. Cooksey was barely in the side.

He played for just over 12 months. He is nowhere near in anyone's books and would be almost forgotten had he not died.

  15. Lol when he suggested going up would be a bad thing. Man doesn't know fuck all about being a fan and what a fan looks for considering he was the fans rep at one point.

Shame but I can see Barry Jnr doing the same now he has got his trust seat. Starting to creep in with his social media comments. Maybe it is not possible to be a true fans rep and be on the board. The free tickets and pies are a stronger habit to kick than spice it seems.

Gary Kelly - for all the times he kept us in the game

David Eyres - for sheer individual skill

Ernie Cooksey - for pure effort and determination

Cooksey was shite so had to try hard, fact is, if he wasn't dead he would be nowhere near anyone's top three players.
