  1. I'm surprised they didn't try to get that move initially. That would have been my first port of call if I were his agent, for obvious reasons...
  2. If MA thought he could get someone on the payroll for £400 a week and annoy a stadium full of people to boot then Ched would be up there and unveiled as their new player-manager...
  3. Interestingly this topic just cropped in the smoking shelter at my work and all the people involved in the conversation felt that he deserved the chance to resume his playing career, one of which was also on our youth team about 15 years ago, a few women too. I can honestly say that I haven't had or heard first-hand any bad comments towards the club, surprisingly.
  4. This is a farcical litany of monumental and repeated balls ups. They should have done it and then announced it which would have probably had less kick-back as the longer it drags on the more people who aren't even associated to the club feel they can have some input to it. The club looks weak.
  5. WTF is this? http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/ched-evans-mask-yobs-condemned-4919271
  6. Last month I chose 'no' but a couple of hours ago I removed my vote and changed it to 'yes' as I realised I was being a NIMBY. Last month they came out and distanced themselves so why then hold further talks a month later and like indecisive? The damage is already done, the club already look daft, bite the bullet and get him signed in my opinion.
  7. The percentage figures on the vote show people are coming around to the idea, it was about 97% last month, now it's 79%. I can't see that this won't go ahead? They got backlash and emails last month, what did they think would be different this time?
  8. Oops, that was me. Apologies. I didn't name her and actually stated it is an offence to do so. I explained how to find it, although in my defence it's a bit like teaching people how to suck eggs when they have access to a computer. She's apparently changed her name 5 times since? I seem to recall Sky Sports managed to blunder and broadcast a screenshot of her Twitter account?
  9. Why would he? If, as he claims, he is innocent he has wrongfully spent 2 and a half years in prison, his name is known World wide as a rapist, his career and development has been destroyed at a time when he was at his best ever form, he has had his freedom and financial security taken from him. Yet people think he should apologise? If he is a victim of a miscarriage of justice I bet he wants her head on a stick, I know I would. As a matter of interest, if his conviction is over-turned, what will the nay sayers say then?
  10. Very true but a defences job is to defend prosecution and a prosecutions job is to obtain a prosecution. They aren't there to do the oppositions job for them. The site you mention is very biased but there are other, more credible, sites out there.
  11. Blimey, there has been quite a change on the poll on the matter but saying that I voted no on it originally whereas now I think he should be signed.
  12. I will give you that one! LOL No, but he did eat her out after McDonald had bare backed her. There was no physical evidence to show either of them had sex with her, only their statements acknowledging consensual sex.
  13. That's my opinion based on the timeline sand the events. Graham Rix was done for underage sex, whilst not 'child molestation' he was able to work again in football and I don't recall this extent of faux-anger at that?
  14. Of course not but I have read an awful lot of stuff on this over the years because a former work colleague was on the youth team with him at Manchester City. People are capable of forming their own views and history tells us that a jury isn't infallible - Pistorius, O J Simpson etc...
  15. Nonsensical? She told him to go down on her. She wasn't unconscious or the like. How can anyone drink to a point that they cannot remember in 1 and a half hours? The expert in court stated her consumption wouldn't have resulted in memory loss. I just don't buy it. It yells of someone not taking responsibility for their own actions. I've done things I've regretted when pissed but there is no point blaming someone else for the fact that I chose to pour too much down my neck and lower my inhibitions. If it had been the latter I'd have been dead against it. The point I was making is that people are reacting to the tag of 'rapist' rather than on the facts of the case.
  16. I hope so, otherwise it really is a pointless and thankless task to offer him terms in the first place. Whilst he won't be 'match sharp', I see no reason to see that he wouldn't be physically capable of competing - for all we know he could have been running marathons each day for the last few months. 2 and a bit months of solid isolated gym time soon adds up. Of the 3 people in the room, 2 say it was consensual (arguably without their statements to that effect there would have been no trial as there wasn't any physical evidence) and 1 says she can't remember. I don't wish to cause offence here but he got his willy wet with a drunken slapper, he didn't drag her off down a dark alley with a knife to her throat whilst she pleaded for the ordeal to end. The latter is the sort of mental image that comes to mind when you mention rape, the first happens throughout the World day in and day out. We've all see the t-shirt saying how beer helps ugly guys gets sex, the fact you can wear a jokey t-shirt like that speaks volumes. You don't see those t-shirts saying knives/chloroform etc help people get laid do you?
  17. What's all this 1 in 3 about? You need to put it into context for our level. He spent 1 season playing in league 1 and got 29 goals in 36 games. Get him signed up. I just pray that he has the mental strength to deal with the abuse that he will get from the fans and rewards us with loyalty should other more 'desirable' clubs come sniffing around after the furore has died down or if begets his conviction quashed? He been out for months so has had ample time to test the water elsewhere. His representatives should have been in contact with every club, they wouldn't take him then so they can sod off in future if he's banging them in for fun. He cost £3m, that's 4 times our all time record transfer spend, Ian Olney, and you can bet that due to the time involved and the fact clubs are fighting over him there won't be a signing on fee. £3m striker for free? Yes please!
  18. I bet if someone started a parody petition asking OAFC to sign Ched Evans that it would also rack up thousands of signatures - people with opposing views/ people who don't believe the strength of the conviction/ people who don't want him at their club/ people who believe in rehabilitation/ people who are sick of the uproar every time he's linked to a club etc.
  19. Yeah, that all the sheep from every corner of the globe is signing it. Not worth the e-paper it's written on. It would be interesting to see the IP addresses of the sheep that are putting their name on it.
  20. I'm not saying that is the case, I'm playing devils advocate. It's a less than ideal situation. In an ideal World we wouldn't be linked with this but he has served his time and is entitled to carry on with his life and in this case that revolves around playing football and trying to clear his name. He is of far more use to society by being employed in his chosen profession so that he is contributing financially rather than being bounded by people, many who know nothing of the case/his career or football in general and being a social burden through welfare. This is no longer about justice. If he was guilty justice has been served. This is about repeated punishment and victimisation and that doesn't sit well with me, less so as I doubt the strength of the conviction anyway. Too much nimbyism going on too!
