  1. She supposedly worked until midnight, went home and showered, got to the club at 1:30am and left at 3:00am. She had cocaine and weed in her system but who can drink to the point of memory loss in 1 and a half hours? Even the expert at trial stated her consumption wouldn't result in memory loss. The case has more holes than a tea bag.
  2. Did you really type that? As people on here condone signing a convicted rapists as they have a wife/Mother/Daughter etc, are you saying that if your wife/Mother/Daughter was a coke fiend you would be fine with that? Don't kick a ball out for a throw in (spot fixing) but feel free to snort a load of columbian marching powder???
  3. I can understand why it doesn't sit well with some people but I don't buy the whole moral/ethics thing when you think of previous players and what they have done/been accused of; Grobbelaar - Match fixing. Billy Kenny - Cocaine use. Lee Hughes - Death by dangerous driving. Cristian Montano - Match fixing and rape. It's not I ventured territory.
  4. I could understand that train of thought if he had admitted to it but he has constantly professed his innocence. Those of you with season tickets that will stop going, I will take it off your hands as in the last few weeks I no longer work Saturdays!
  5. I've said for a long time that this conviction has, at best, very dodgy foundations. The fact the 'victim' had previously accused 2 rugby players says a lot. I don't blame him for showing no remorse. If you were wrongly jailed for 2 and a half years and wrongly accused of stealing a shag, would you be remorseful? If we do sign him and he does recover his previous form and/or get his conviction overturned, he had best reward is with loyalty if any other club ever comes knocking? It would be a crying shame if it takes an age to be over-turned and he's missed out on playing in the meantime? The most worrying thing in the whole case is the fact he went down on her after his mate had bare backed her!?! WTF?
  6. For those saying 'he isn't all that' and 'he had 1 good season', here is some food for thought. The Blades paid £3m for him and that was BEFORE he had his good season. That is 4 times our all time record signing. That would be the reasoning behind it as we couldn't hope to sign a player of that potential calibre (only in terms of football, not morals/ethics etc) unless it came with a load of hassle. It goes back further than Lee Hughes too, didn't Billy Kenny get shipped out of Everton due to liking the Columbian marching powder? He then got the boot by us for similar things didn't he? Big clubs get the polished diamonds. We get left with the lesser players and if we want a 'star' we get left with trying to polish the odd turd. If that doesn't work then just roll said turd in glitter.
  7. You have to wonder who leaked this information? Probably CEs representatives to maybe show, or at least paint a picture, that a club is prepared to sign him in the hope that others come out of the woodwork in order to get a better deal/bigger club? I do think this will be over-turned at some stage, the whole case is on very dodgy foundations. I also wonder why his partners Father is bankrolling the legal case? There aren't many Fathers that would allow their Daughters partner to put himself in some other birds tampon slot then pay to clear his name?
  8. It's little more than relationship building. If his conviction is overturned do you think he will sign for someone that didn't even have the courtesy to hear him out? Will he heck. If someone is bold enough to sign him up at this stage and it's then overturned I hope he remembers who that club is and treats them with loyalty for the rest of his playing days?
  9. From the BBC gossip column... Oldham Athletic had a meeting with former Sheffield United striker and convicted rapist Ched Evans last week although no deal has been agreed between the parties.' Let's face it, no-one will sign him currently but if his conviction is overturned he will be fighting them off with a stick so clubs are probably trying to form some sort of 'relationship' with him in case that becomes the outcome?
  10. He could just consume a shed load of Ephedrine? Oh, wait...
  11. Cheers! Blimey, his area is cheap. A 3 bed detached for £116k!?!?! Suppose having an *accused* rapist in the street knocks house prices down though...
  12. Hello fellow Latics fans. My first post here. I'm a long time lurker but felt the need to reply to this so was awaiting authorisation to post. My personal feelings are that there is a lot more to this than meets the eye. I post post my musings on the matter and make it clear that they are not the thoughts of the club or the forum. What do we know about the situation? * That Montano was on camera saying he would take money to fix a bit of spot betting. * Montano was dismissed for gross misconduct. * That Oldham held back a payment to West Ham for ' Non disclosure' of a serious offence. * Montano faced trial for gang-rape (potentially a re-trial too due to a hung jury). Now let's read between the lines, although I may be 'over-thinking' this as a former TU rep, this is my albeit assumed dissection; By the time the spot fixing thing hit the press, OAFC were well aware of the gang rape allegation, fearing being viewed as a 'club for cons' (Lee Hughes) they will have looked through details of his transfer, so he or WHU have failed to have notified of 'pending charges' so employment was gained on false grounds. If one lies on their job application there is no 'statute of limitation'. I suspect that he was asked about why this wasn't disclosed and he/his rep said they believed WHU would have told OAFC of the details hence why OAFC said they believed WHU sold him under false pretences and lodged a complaint. They needed evidence from somewhere. Storm in a tea cup. He has almost no employment rights off the duration of his time with us. He can rot in hell for all I care.
